Player of the game-Reid Fragel. He beat William Gholston up and down the field today. I followed a few MSU blogs on Twitter and they were all whining about holds, or lack there of. I didn't see it. Fragel kicked a future NFL star's ass today. Great game Reid!
Save for a long TD, tackling was much, MUCH better today.
Christian Bryant will give us heartburn as fans. He will make us smile, he will make us cry.
APB is still out on John Simon. I've caught some heat for my criticisms of him as of late, but to his supporters, watch for one thing-I've been saying it all year and today it was more evident than ever. He can't flatten out. Most times today he was beating his man one on one (A problem I said he had earlier this year) but was getting too far upfield whilst doing it. He needs to be better at moving parallel to the line of scrimmage once he gets by his man. He was a total non factor in the second half.
Finally, Jonathan Hankins could be the best DT in the nation. He murdered the starting C and made a mockery out of the back up.
All in all, great to see the defense man up. They bailed out a shaky, fumbly offense today but you know what? 5-0 is 5-0.

Good analysis. I agree, Simon was pretty disappointing today..def his least productive game of the season. Getting Hank in the 2010 class was pure gold! Hopefully Hale, Schutt, Carter or Hill can be at least half as good as him.
Run_Fido's favorite word is strawman.
I kept looking to see if Gholston was in the game or not. I was super impressed with Fragel's play. He definitely made the right decision to move to tackle. If he keeps his play up, he is NFL bound
I truly believe Simon is not 100% healthy (maybe shoulder). Maybe he is gutting it out and leading by example.
