Did anyone else see the MSU OL #66 (True Freshman Jack Allen) eye-gouge Big Hank!? It was after the play was over when there was a pile on the ground. I saw it clearly. ...Disgusting

B1G officials should review this and the kid should at least get a game suspension. Gouging someone's eyes could seriously injure or blind someone.
Im totally with you this needs to come with a suspension. Im no jackie chan but i did spend some time in the military and when your tought this move they make it very clear that the point of this is to jam your fingers into the eye socket and either literally pop out the other persons eyeballs or cause serious nerve damage either permanently or temporarily causing loss of vision. This dipshit little teenage kid thinks hes tough and probably thinks a football game is "war" and clearly has no idea what physical ramifications doing that could have on someone.
Well i like college and i like football...and im gunna keep doin em both cause they make me feel good!!!
I posted it immediately following the play in the forum posts under the live game feed. The ref saw it and came in to seperate them. No flag of course but it was in plain view of everyone. MSU is a dirty team for obvious reasons.
Saw it in usa today this morning. Its no secret. He will get punished.
What a piece of garbage. Hope this draws multiple game suspension, absolutely no place in sports for that kInd of disgusting behavior.

Looks like Nick Fairley was playing for Sparty yesterday. How disgusting.
"if irony were made of strawberries, we' d all be drinking a lot of smoothies right now."
Downright nauseating. Bring on the suspensions and the should be harsh
Anyone else see Hankins shoving his hands in the guys face too?
He was putting his hands on his FACEMASK. Not FACE. Huge difference. And that does not warrant EYE GOUGING.
It was hard for me to see on the film. Just looked at 2nd film saw it much better. Clearly with intent!
is msu the dirtiest team in the big? gholston punching and trying to snap necks last yr and now this. dantonio training scum bags

Nothing warrants eye gougging, even getting gouged. The facts are , Hankins was being dirty too... not just the MSU guy. We shouldn't act like they are dirty and we are saints, Dantonio isn't teaching them to eye gouge and to say so is pathetic.
looks like hankins palm is on the facemask, and he is not gouging. The things is, allen's was clear as day, Hank's is debateble. If you can honestly say that hank was eye gouging and completely dismiss the possibility of him just pushing him away by his facemask, then I will recant my statement, but you can't say that, because it is debatable. Allen's actions, however, are not.
Allen - He's a p#ssy
Good player's make the play's they're suppose to, great player's make the play's they're NOT !!!
Seems like Dantonio is encouraging thug play. I'm losing any remaining respect that I had for the guy!
“The minute we stop expecting greatness from our football program, we become Wisconsin.” Craig Krenzel
Well we've had our own guys get busted being stupid during games in years past. It's a man's game and things get heated, but this is clear as day and deserves punishment! I'd say the same thing if it was our guy and it was that obvious. Pretty simple decision there.
Hankins was jabbing his facemask before he started to gouge. Did he gouge because he thought he was being gouged? IDK, maybe maybe not. But from an OBJECTIVE point of view, for some reason a few people here seem to feel the need to conjure up reasons to make MSU, with direction for Dantonio, into some dirty filthy team that is being told to be that way.
Why? We won, there is no reason for us to be pissy about something that clearly looked like a tussle BOTH ways with on player going to far. Further, all this nonsense about Dantonio being evil, ruining his players careers by playing them too much, teaching his players to gouge eyes and break knees, knwoingly playing a player who was knocked out cold, and growing horns with poisoned tips he uses to spear kittens and then burn them on top of a swastika after eating their hearts... is getting to be total nonsense, pathetic, and doesn't show well for the fans here.
He has done little but complain about Urban not sticking with the old Big Ten traditions regarding recruiting that he liked (hypocritically). He has a grumpy face, all game. He doesn't seem like a guy you want to have a beer with. Ok, I get all that, but it doesn't make him or his team as bad as everyone wants to make it and it doesn't mean OSU doesn't do some questionable things.
It all seems unnecessary...
I do agree because he took it to eye gouging that it should be punished. We should stop there and stop taking it to far to pathetic levels.
It's a tough game thing like this happen but I agree their should be some rule in place to prevent it from happening

Certainly not blaming Dantonio for an eye-gouging. I would hope Wisco doesn't hold it against Tress for Rob Reynolds going for a chokeout on (I believe it was) Jim Sorgi. Dantonio does seem like a bit of a dick though. No skin off my ass, anyway. No one ever said the best coach has to win a popularity contest. Case and point: Nick Saban. He just looks like the kind of guy that kicks dogs to me.

Judging by the attention from a quick news search we'll be hearing more about this tomorrow. Looks like the national media could be picking it up which means ESPiN will have Mark and Lou sitting across from each other debating it and making everyone dumber.
Nothing like dancing on the field in 02...
Methinks Steensn is a Meatchicken plant. Member since May, favorite teams up north, and a lot of comments against the Bucks while defending such indefensible things like the obvious eye gouging incident. Clearly, Hankins was the victim there yet Steensn tries to turn it around as Hank's fault? I'm not buying your cover story dude. I also notice the multiple times you say "we" when referring to the "bad" things the Bucks supposedly do...like you are trying to convince us you're just one of us that sees it different.
I think you're just a clever little troll who will want to always be quick to suggest the bad.
Go away and report back to Hokey Pokey that you failed. You have been outed. Maybe if you hurry, you can get a seat at his buffet table before you're left with meatchicken bones.
Ugg... everywhere I go someone has to be a "you have to be a Michigan fan" crap. If this site is going to turn into the same delusional set of posters I'll have to bail here too. Just let me know if I can be objective or not and still be concidered an OSU fan. If I can't, goodbye...
I don't think Dantonio coaches his guys to be dirty but 12 personal fouls in 5 games against Michigan certainly begs questions about what he is coaching these guys up to do. I can speak from experience at a much lower level of football-coaches can tell their kids to play to, or through the whistle without actually saying it.
I don't think for a second Dantonio says "Go gougue an eye" or "Go take a swing at someone" or "Go twist a helmet". No coach at a high level gets to the point they are at with tactics like those. I do think Dantonio tells his guys to play very hard. And that word "hard" is a funny one. Means different things to different people.
I don't think he's a dirty coach, per se....but it does seem like Sparty is on the giving end of a lot of personal fouls, especially in tight, rivalry type games.
4-6 seconds from point A to point B and when you get to point B, be pissed off
Coach Meyer just said that the video of this has been "turned in" to the Big Ten.
Hankins' hand was flat on Allen's facemask, who knows why, but you can't say he was being dirty for sure. It probably didn't need to be there, but that's no excuse for Allen to eye gouge. I doubt Hank was being dirty, but I guess it could beg the question.
Class of 2010.
Suspensions will be handed down and not to OSU players. To all this and that about OSU doing this too....you're an idiot if you say that. OSU wasn't doing it and MSU did...I'm not saying they were instructed to do so...but they weren't being held accountable or those MSU players would have been sat for their actions during the game. They weren't which makes me side with Dantonio knowing it was going on...he's not a fan of Meyer so I can see him telling them to do what ever they had to...

Yeah, the Hankins facemask push was clearly after the eye gouging started. Sorry, Steensn, you're wrong.

Yep Hank was merely trying to get him away.
Sparty is the dirtiest team in the B1G. No doubt about it. At least 3 [called] unsportsmanlike penalties in the UofM MSU game last year, season opener against Boise and this past weekend's game are clear evidence that these aren't fluke incidents. There is physicality and there is dirty play; there is a big difference.
Eye gouging, trying to spear, and twisting facemasks/helmets are just out of line.
Those who stay will be CHAMPIONS!

Hands to the face happens. Especially in the trenches. Its a technique, that like holding, probably happens more often than it is called and it gives a distinct advantage to the player executing the move. I'd venture a guess that Hankins was doing it intentionally during the whistle to get Allen to straighten up and take away his leverage.
I'm not saying that act is right but it is one of those moves that operates on the shady side of football. This is something that can be called, DURING the whistle. If anyone wants to tell me how Allen's move was anything but malicious, I'm all ears. He was probably pissed that Hankins kicked his ass during the whistle and did it in a way unbecomming of a gentleman so he got pissed and aimed to injure.
Not excusing Hankins, but what he did was during the play and occurs during plays 90 percent of the game. Apples and Oranges.
EDIT-To Hail....Sparty flagged for 12 Personal fouls in 5 games against M under Dantonio. I know people here have a soft spot for the man but as I've previously posted, one has to wonder what he is telling his guys to do or not telling them not to do in tight, chippy games. If it looks like a duck...
4-6 seconds from point A to point B and when you get to point B, be pissed off
I do think MSU pushes the envelope between aggressive and being dirty/taking cheap shots. I get what they are trying to do. They want to intimidate and teams with agressive physical defenses often get too agressive at times and do things that are questionable or take shots at guys out of bounds and stuff like that. Michigan State would probably enjoy having that label though. Seems like that's the D they want, the kind with a nasty streak that people know they'll be in for a fight when th ey play them.
I don't like Dantonio at all but I don't think it's fair to blame him for a guy gouging the eyes of Hankins. The first time I ever saw a player go for another players eyes it was Spikes playing for Urban. Do you think Urban teaches his team to do these things? Was Tressel responsible for his player trying to strangle a Wisconsin QB??? Of course not.
Steensen you can be objective and still be a fan of course. However, calling people pathetic or their opinions pathetic probably isn't the best way to get your point across. Some of the stuff you and Cincy had to say yesterday I agreed with, but I think people react much more to the way you guys were treating people who disagreed with you more so than the points you were trying to get across.
Steensn, it seems you believe an "objective" view of that play/game/team is that MSU is not dirty. The issue is many others here believe an "objective" view of the play/game/team is that MSU IS dirty.
My point is whether MSU is dirty or not is a SUBJECTIVE view point.
So by all means be an objective OSU fan. But don't assume that any and all objective fans of college football would think that MSU is not dirty.
MSU fans are claiming that Ohio St. chopped this film up as well. It's really Big Hanks fault.
Tomorrow
To those who think Dantonio is advocating for his players to gouge eyes or play dirty in general - seriously? No chance he telling his players to do stuff like this. Lets call it what it is the kid is true freshman it was a big game, he either let his emotions get the best of him or he just is a dirty player. Either way true freshman involved here time to correct this and even if the big ten punishes him (which im sure they will) I really doubt that punishment will compare to what the MSU staff has him do. Think sand pit...
Fact of the matter is it was just a dirty play by a young kid. I dont think any coaching staff, at least in the Big Ten, is telling their players to do this kind of stuff. Especially a guy like Dantonio (recruiting whiner or not no reason to think hes dirty), that said he is clearly telling his team to play aggressive and with a chip on their shoulder. Which for some kids, like Allen, it is hard to figure out where the line is between hard play and dirty play. However, I have all the confidence that he will soon know where it is or he probably wont have a place on that team. Because, as this forum topic makes clear this kind of stuff reflects poorly on the program and the coaching stuff, which most programs have a very low tolerance for.
its sad that conversations on Reddit between multiple fan bases can be more civil than what I see here sometimes. *sigh*
Now that it has been brought up, something needs to be done. Otherwise, you have to allow this to happen more often. This is not uncommon in piles though...
No, an objective view is that "it happened" but that doesn't make the MSU TEAM dirty nor Dantionio teaching the players to do it. One can say it doesn't seem he has a heart to heart with them to make them stop, maybe a little complacency. I'm just drawing a CLEAR line here. I never said Hankins was eye gouging too and I clearly stated that Hankins didn't take it too far but the MSU player did. Please do not put words in my mouth. I am VERY clear on the line I think should be drawn here, and it is not saying MSU are angels. It is when we conjure up nonsense trying to make the whoel team and Dantonio seem like lamb mutilating vampires.
@BED
Maybe we are not talking about the same thing then. I don't see his fingers moving and gouging till Hankins pushes his facemask back to arms length.
I love good debate. I think the best debaters are those who can take an opposing viewpoint without insulting the people they are talking to...
Hankins was IMO definitely on the receiving end of a dirty play. I highly doubt it's taught (playing dirty) but I saw a team (MSU) that was hell bent on intimidating on Saturday at the very least.
