Will be interesting to see if an osu offer could come now or if they still wait till end of the season. The offense he runs is very identical and he seems to excell well in the offense. I think he would be the best fit of any 2014 qb we are looking at.
The kid can stiffarm the heck outta people, afraid to say it but he runs similar to a certain guy with the last name Tebow.

Was just going to post this.
A lot to like on this film. Has a very short, compact, and quick delivery which is a wonderful thing to have in your arsenal. It gives defense less time to make a break on a ball.
He showed a great knack for putting the ball in very tight windows. A few questionable throws were in there that I'm sure he won't get away with against stiffer competition, but more than a handful of throws where their was a very tight window to fit in, and he was able to get it there with accuracy and zip on the ball.
His offense does run the spread option. I would need a few full game films to see how consistent he actually was at it, but he made some excellent decisions on the read play that were in that highlight film.
You're not going to see him make a few throws you want to see just because it is a high school game. That is what the camps are for, so they should have a good idea on all the throws and how he performs with them by seeing him in June.
Hard not to see this kid as a great fit for this offense.
Impressive. Great reads on the run option. Nice throwing motion and some really nice throws.
He is the number one on my board...I saw him play as a sophmore when I was visiting family in KY. He is the real deal..and when I saw him at FNL it really sealed the deal. I can really see him flourishing in this offense, with Jalin, 'Zeke, Brionte, and I hope :D James Quick.
I dont always root for college athletics, but when i do (which is most of the time) I choose THE Ohio State Buckeyes.
He is the guy I am pulling for!
Throws the deep ball with a nice touch and appears to have just enough speed to keep a defense honest.
Looks like a good fit to me, wouldn't mind taking both Barker and Kizer, with a little interclass competition for the starting job one day.
:40 secs. Two great stiff arms...wow. But this kid seems to have great pocket prescence as well, and knows whether to tuck and run or stand in and throw. Probably my favorite of the 2014 QB prospects.
would love to see this kid become a buckeye
He's had my vote since I read about him on the camp circuit this summer. I believe this kid is a Buckeye when he is offered. He knows he will fit perfectly in Meyer's system.
He'd look good in Scarlet & Grey!!
Everyone from Conner I talk to rave about his athelticism too
Offer this kid...now.
"if irony were made of strawberries, we' d all be drinking a lot of smoothies right now."
I thought he looked too slow to run the read-option at the college level. Those stiff arms are impressive but remember that these are HS kids he's throwing down.
The arm strength is there as is the accuracy on the long ball, which if we have the speed on the perimeter we expect, should open up the field and keep the defense from cramming the box.
There's a lot to like, but I have to say that the lack of speed stood out to me.
I want him. He's no Braxton though.
@NOBUCK-I-INTEAM lol right but the kid has a ton of talent and is 2 back to back stiff-arms around the 40sec mark was nasty..
I'd agree he's not the fastest guy out there, but he's very mobile for a qb and can do what he has to with his feet when needed. Braxton is a very rare talent in his ability to have his speed at the qb position. If we recruit guys like zeke elliot, jalin marshall, gibson and others to put around your qb, you don't need your qb to do what Braxton does, you just need him to be able to get solid pickups on read option plays when the qb should keep the ball. I think Barker can do just that and he already has familiarity doing zone reads and throwing the ball in a spread offense.
Favorite Buckeye: Obviously BJ Mullens
Drew seems to be the perfect QB for Myer and his style of offense. He seems to make quick decisions on whether to run or pass. He has good mechanics as a QB. Drew is not the burner that Braxton is, but I don't think that is absolutely necessary for the QB. Just be the leader and make everyone else better.
Wasn't Tebow a 4.6 guy? He won 2 rings. Speed at the skill positions with a QB who is mobile is what makes Urban's offense work.
Tebow was a 4.6-4.7 guy. Your QB doesn't have to be a burner like Miller, Pryor or RG3. The Blake Bell kid for Oklahoma looks awesome running the football, and he was bigger than Barker in high school. I'd rather have a QB like Tebow or Bell, mobile but big enough so that you don't worry so much about them taking hits.
Barker is 6-3, 210... Coach Mick can put another 20 on him, so I'm not worried about him taking hits. A successful QB in this system has to be mobile when needed and be able to make the read option. From his film, it looks like he can do that. I think he is the best QB for this system in 2014 and could turn out to be better than JT Barrett. I'd like to have a good power back to go with Elliott that way they don't rely on the QB to run between the tackles. Still baffled about the Green situation.
Yeah Barker looks like the real deal. The thing you have to think about is what QB's excelled in Urbans offense. Alex Smith was great in this system and he is about the same build as Drew Barker would be. I think that is the most realistic comparison to him. Also Josh Harris at BG wasnt a burner either.
I think it's convincing. Yes it's high school competition, but his throwing motion, accuracy, and general route reading ability look solid for a kid coming out of HS. As some have said earlier, we OSU fans have gotten so used to our QB being the main running threat, that we have to remember other options. A 4.7 mobile quarterback can do serious damage when the defense is worried about your recievers and backfield.
WB
I agree with Derek would like to see a full game to get a gauge on his consistency but after watching those highlights there is alot to like about this kid. He may not be the fastest guy but looks to be plenty mobile for our system not to mention he runs with purpose and already knows to get out of bounds. He also has a great arm and pretty sound throwing mechanics overall. I believe this is the kid that will get the offer and commit cause i dont see watson wavering from his clemson commitment plus his relationships with other '14 kids doesnt hurt either.
JT Barrett is built like a running back. Multiple scouts have commented on how physically impressive and powerful he is. I'm not worried about him handling the physical side of running the ball. He's not Denard.
NYBUCKEYE id have to agree with the smith comparison if this kid can add 15-20 lbs and keep that mobility he could turn into a very dangerous weapon as he already looks to have better accuracy than braxton did coming out of hs
Am I the only one concerned about his delivery? Caleb Henderson seems to have a much quicker and more fluid release.
Having talented backups will be a new experience! I like what this kid brings. Miller is a freak but Barker is a better passer now than Miller was last season.
Literally looks like a Tim Tebow 2.0...Slow delivery and all
I have seen Barker play and those say ing he is no Braxton are correct. If you want a QB to be your leading rusher do not take Barker. If you want a QB with a dual threat to get 10-12 yd on a rush breaking tackles with a much better arm for accuracy and distance Barker would be a nice sign.
Drew Barker is so much more like Aaron Rodgers than Tebow or Braxton. He can run a bit like Tebow but he throws the ball soooooooo much better! There just seems to be a great drop on his deep passes that seem to float right into the receivers hands. and I am not talking about a floater, It has a great angle and then at the end drops right down into the teammate. Very nice looking ball. I have not seen Henderson or any of the other QB prospects but this kid would do just fine!
and he's a Junior!
Dude's throwing motion looks nothing like Rodgers....If this kid threw left handed he would be Tebow. He seems a little more polished as a passer than Tebow was in high school but obviously not as dangerous a runner
Here's another thing to remember, he looks this good and is only a junior. From the camps and stuff this summer he surely got some tools and pointers on what to work on. He'll do camps again this summer and get more stuff to work on. Cant wait to see how the kid looks when he's a senior.
The only thing this kid is comparable to tebow in is his running motion and maybe speed his motion is nothing even close. Tebow's throwing mechanics are more comparable to Randy Johnson than they are with this kid. He doesnt drop his throwing shoulder and elbow doesnt drop below his waist like Tebow hes much more compact with much better arm strength and accuracy watch those throws over the middle and down the seams and tell me Tebow is that accurate. This kid is very good for his age and still has another year of high school left IMHO the offer is between him and henderson whos film i would like to see from this year as well.
