I have no updates regarding the actual injury, but my brother was at practice today with the Army (the team did a tribute to the troops for 9/11) and said he couldn't get Urban Meyer's autograph because Urban was travelling to the hospital with an injured player.
With that being said, I hope it is nothing serious and I wish Dodson a speedy recovery.
Not really sure... I mean today was "Bloody Tuesday." If I remember correctly, Connor Crowell lost something crazy like 9 lbs over the course of practice last Tuesday. Obviously, they are working extremely hard, but you would think the staff would take the necessary precautions to prevent dehydration.
Not sure how someone designed to redshirt is worked THIS hard.
That said. Its not that hard to dehydrate yourself when working hard, despite drinking TONs of water/gatorade. It still happens when working extremely hard. If he's not taking care of himself the day and night beforehand, then no amount of in practice drinking can sovle the problem.
Didn't anyone else see ESPN's OSU Training Days? They showed how much they preach staying hydrated. They make them chug Gatorade/water when they have the players in front of them BUT if the players don't continue drinking Saturday evening, Sunday etc (when they have a little off time, then bloody Tuesday is going to be an issue...not saying some naturally have a harder time staying hydrated but I think this staff has been all over it...they also mentioned in an article a couple weeks ago that the team has been going thru more water than normal/expected.
I wouldn't put this all on the staff. Dehydration could happen from a number of reasons. Maybe he wasn't staying hydrated enough at night or when he is away from the team. Maybe his body just heated up too much and he lost a lot of sweat but didn't say anything and kept pushing himself. You can wake up one morning and feel right as rain, the next your body says there is a problem.
Sounds like it was taken care of immediately and he will be fine.
Staying hydrated is a full time job, not just something you do in practice. Yes, they have nutritionists on staff now, but the players don't have personal nutritionists following them around making sure they're drinking a ton of water. I run/bike for about an hour a day, even during the summer months. It's no big deal for me to lose 5-6 pounds of water weight after a workout in the summer. I can't imagine going through a bloody tuesday. Hopefully this doesn't happen again, but the odds of another player getting dehydrated are pretty good, especially in august/september practices and especially to freshmen who "don't even know they don't know."

Hopefully it's nothing bad.

It's good to hear that he is alright, but what is it with these guys and a lack of hydration? Don't we have nutrionists on staff now?
Time to fire the waterboy. But seriously, get well soon.

Good deal. I'll take that.
OSU just released a statement saying he suffered from a bout of dehydration during practice, but he's now stable and doing well.

D. Anthony
Coconut water. Best thing out for staying hydrated. I wish him well & hope to not see this become a trend with Tuesday practice..
