Obviously, I care less about what you nick name him, but, in my experience, if it's not a nickname he grew up with, you let the nickname come to him; not just decide to start calling him something you think sounds cool.
On a side note, Brent Mussberger called Vincent Smith "Devin" Smith at least 3 or 4 times on Saturday night. i guess he was obsessing over the catch.
