This guy is the key to us getting Vonn Bell. If your a Buckeye fan your a fan of every team Tennessee plays for the rest of the season. If he is fired I dont see Vonn going to Tennessee. The only scenerio I see him staying with Tenn is if Charlie Strong takes the job after Dooley is fired, in which case we get Quick. So lets hope Strong takes a job not Tenn and Dooley gets fired.

Im sure both coaching situations would helps us land Quick and Strong, but I don't think it'll be the only deciding factor. Plus I kinda hope Dooley doesn't lose his job, seems like a good guy.
Favorite Buckeye: Obviously BJ Mullens
Im not worried about tennessee winning. They wont.
I am concerned that a squirrely coach that wears orange pants could get a recruit outside of cheating from urban and ohio state

Bell may come to OSU because Urban Meyer is our coach, whether Derek Dooley is there or not. The Vols are not a top tier program right now, Dooley or no Dooley. I also don't know if Charlie Strong would be ready to leave Louisville quite yet. He has a pretty nice gig there, not a ton of pressure to win, a conference he can win on a yearly basis, also, L-Ville is a basketball school so even a down year or two won't really be noticed. It's a pretty nice place for a first time head coach to gain some experience, and prepare himself for the SEC grind somewhere down the road.
IF Dooley makes a bowl game and wins, he isn't going to be fired. If he misses for a 2nd year in a row then I believe he is gone. No matter what happens with Dooley or Strong I believe the product on the field in The Shoe and the coaching staff are good enough to get both Quick and Bell.
Bell will be a buckeye no worries just gotta wait til after the nebraska game
I really don't think Bell will commit after the Nebraska game. I think he will wait until the end of the season and see what happens with OSU and UT. After he sees how the programs finish out, I will believe he will make a decision. I could be wrong, but I don't feel like one game will get a committment.
Yeah my bad i wasnt referencing him committing right after but he will be a buckeye at some point after that although he has mentioned a few times in interviews about committing during the college season which is when he will do it expect a late october early november commitment if your going by his statements and that osu is his last official
If he really likes OSU he won't have to wait till the end of the season because everything is stable, and his mind would be made up. If he waits till after the season it could mean that he has Tennessee as his team. However, he would still need to wait until the end of the season to make sure everything remains the way he wants it.
Either way everything i keep hearing is that osu is more than in good position and to expect something by the end of the college season
i want bell over quick
I have read no matter what happens that DD will not get fired. He just signed a 3 year contract last year and the athletic department is in the red big time. Unless they lose every game the rest of the year I dont think he gets fired this year.
But if your Bell you have to be thinking if this guy is recruiting me and he could get fired in the next couple years I wouldnt go there.

I agree with everyone who says Tennessee is down. Bell likes them becauseits his home school(which means a lot as every fan knows) but if they go another losing year new coach or not, Tenn isn't showing production on the field and if OSU goes 9+ wins that has to be a real consideration, will he get the necessary coaching at the next level at Tenn would have to be asked. And I would never count out Alabama unless he scratches them off the list.
Wherever you are, there you be!
There is one thing Bell would get properly coached @ should he choose Tennessee: personal hygiene.
Do you guys remember this Dooley gem?

@OSUMU903... UT's financial problems end pretty soon. They pay off Fulmer and Pearl in the next couple of months. Plus... If you haven't heard, they started a slush fund to buy whoever they wanted a few years back. It was rumored that Gov Haslam was one of the donors. The only way they fire Dooley is if a big name coach comes out and says he wants the job. I'm thinking Jon Gruden, Bill Cowher or somebody like that. I don't think they would fire Dooley for Strong, Whittingham, or somebody from a smaller conference/school. Plus, UT knows if they start the "hot seat" talk that sets them back in recruiting. They fire Dooley and it sets them back another 3 years or so.
Disagree with the premise of the post. Don't think we should root for someone to be fired from their livelihood (Dooley) just so we can land a recruit. I want Bell to be a Buckeye in the worst way. But I want him to pick OSU because he can't imagine going anywhere else, not because his first choice fell on hard times and the coach he loved got fired. That's a lame way to land a prospect; do we really even want a guy who isn't totally sure he wants to be here? I want him to come to us because we're the best and he's too excited at the prospect of killing it with our guys for 4 years to imagine it anywhere else. Not because we're all that is left of his options because of firings.
When told OSU set school record for 50+ games this year, UFM said "That's good. We're gonna break that next year."
The Tennessee athletic department reported last week that it ran a deficit of $3.98 million dollars in the 2011-12 academic year. What’s more alarming is that the department’s reserve fund has dwindled to $2 million. The Volunteers can’t afford another rainy day. All of which makes me think that Derek Dooley’s hot seat just may be a media fiction. If Tennessee fires him, it would owe him $5 million that it doesn’t have. Would the boosters pony up? Would Tennessee ask?
Buckeye_in-sec.... That comes from Ivan Maisel back on Sept 7th in his 3 point stance so while we dont know the ins and outs it might be hard to fire him no matter what which I believe if they keep him will work out well for OSU to get Bell.

I think we have a great shot at Vonn Bell regardless of the coaching situation. He has said he loves Urban. He did 1 camp this summer and it was OSU's camp, which he participated just for fun. Also, Darron Lee and Vonn Bell were childhood friends and are still friends. He could be on the field from day one!
Bell's decision will be because of the relationships hes made with the coaches and u can thank urban for this one
