We aren't a great team..but doesn't mean we are going to lose. Braxton's running ability keeps us in games.

Thank goodness the rest the B1G sucks.

Seriously, even with our inconsistent offense (talk about either great or horrible) and our crap defense, there isn't a good team to worry about in the B1G this year.

Michigan State has a pretty good defense and a good running back. They're beatable. Easily.

Love UFM but he should have never kept fickell as a co-dc!!!! You have to as hard as it is make a clean break with the past.. Fickell would have gotten on somewhere else and been better for it but all the good will from last year he accumilated will be gone by next week if not already....

What Fickell did last year proved that he deserved a CHANCE at being the coordinator. Urban made the right call at the time. But he hasn't made ANY defensive adjustments. Next week is the biggest test. I thought the D played reasonably well today, didn't give up a TD, but the easy yards are killing us.

Fickell, hapless performance last year did not earn him a chance at DC. Urban, aware of tradition, aware of Rich Rod's ignoring tradition and it's result, retained Fickell for continuity. Fickell never performed to the level of  deserving a big job at a place like OSU. He is absolutely not up to the task of DC or even LB coach at OSU. The talk that he will be a head coach somewhere soon is ridiculous. Who would hire him...based on what?? Also, Kerry Coombs is not showing me much. The guy is a glorified HIGH SCHOOL COACH. Sure he is loud and animated but what HS coach isn't? It covers up for the fact that they don't know much. We were 103rd in pass defense BEFORE being torched for over 400 yards by UAB for Christs sake! The talent is there, the performance is not. Urban did himself a disservice by retaining Fickell. We can afford the best and should go out and get it.

and its fine to be pessimistic about this team..but we should all be stoked out of our minds about the schedule..the big is the worst aq confrence by a mile..maybe at mac level..maybe

So if we go unbeaten in the worst Big Ten ever, without being able to play in the Big Ten title or national title game..whats the point?

You hit it right on the head about Braxton! Great runner but average QB at best.

I'd like to agree but have you been watching MSU today? They look really bad on offense. I'm mentally prepared myself for 3-5 loses months ago so I'm not expecting much. MSU will win a close one 21-17.

Why would MSU beat us? They haven't shown much either, not to mention they have Bausermen Jr at QB. I hope we have the sense to load the box, play man, and make their QB beat us. We've been playing extremely basic defense, and that has nothing to do w/missed tackles.

For all the talk by everyone (myself included)  and the coaches about how we have good CB's, show it!! No one can seriously tell me that UAB had better WR's than our CB's? Put them in man press and lets see. Have we played any press at all this season? If Roby, Howard, Grant, Barnett, Bryant and Johnson cant man up against the likes of UAB, Miami, UCF and Cal, we have SERIOUS issues......

That's sounds like another QB we had that did pretty good. I'll take it T.Smith didn't come into his own untl the middle to end of his Jr year.

pretty simple..im confident for next saturday because when you look at both teams whole body of work we have an offense that can put the ball in the end zone and sparty does not

I feel that the coaches are limiting Braxtons runs and thats why hes taking the first read on the option, handing it off the running back everytime. He might be afraid of what will happen if he does run it alot. I wish he would honestly, even on tv you can see a wide open lane because they disguise the handoff and run so well. If Braxton tucks and runs, hes gaining 10-15 yards easy.

Everyone knows Braxton is way more of a scrambler than passer. He is a great runner and an average passer. I know they dont want him running it 20 times a game, but damn, he is our only piece of offense that is able to produce a big run.

Preparing already...and based of the last three weeks...it does mean we can lose.  We very well may if the coaches as well as players don't step up considering this will be the best team OSU's faced so far.  Bell creates an issue with the way our defense has been tackling...we may see a bunch of this. 

^^ ahh the "I knew we'd lose to MSU all along" buckeye fan. Well unlike a majority of people on this site, I'm gonna actually have confidence in our team. We have less losses then MSU, Nebraska, and Purdue. That's not a guarantee we win, but IMO cal is very similar talent wise to UCLA who beat Nebraska, and UCF would wipe the floor with directional Michigan. Bucks beat MSU 20-16, Nebraska at home at night will NOT be a blowout, and that's a guarantee. 

Beat down?  Have you watched MSU the last two weeks?  lol

I don't know how you guys are so sold on MSU? They don't have Kirk Cousins anymore. Maxwell has a lot of growing to do and will not do it against this defense! I am not sure what jaugernaut team you guys think MSU is and what pushovers you think OSU is, but you guys seriously need to get a grip on yourselves. You guys would probably be upset as LSU fans who just barely won 12-10 over a weak Auburn team. 

I mean, OSU is only 4-0 with a heisman candidate at QB! That is horrible! 

MSU doesn't look good. OSU certainly doesn't look good. Should be a pretty ugly game. I don't see either team being able to "Beat Down" the other.

He looks kind of big Fido! Can he fit in the shirt pocket of your inmate oranges?

Jason, I didn't say at one point in my post about who would win the game, so I don't believe I will be served crow if MSU wins. Others can have it! I just don't believe it will be the slaughter that this post believes it is!

Step back from the ledge, my friends.  We knew this was going to be a rebuilding process going in--but I think that Urban and the rest of the staff's frank demeanor on every facet of our team gave us a lot of confidence heading into the season, perhaps too much.

I honestly believe that our league is bad enough for us to have an outside shot at running the table, and I have so much more faith in this staff than I did in last year's.  Last season, I saw no improvement week-to-week, whereas I have faith that we're going to see marked improvement in our team's performance over the next few weeks.  I'll be interested to see what we look like as we head into the meat of our schedule here, because I'm sure that Urban has been keeping some stuff under wraps.

Cal hurts the Buck's D with speedy little scat back type runs.  UAB hurt us with passing.  MSU has neither, Ohio State wins a close one.

I don't think anyone is getting killed.  Hell MSU last year which was a better team didn't KILL Ohio State.  They dominated the game sure, but the end result was pretty close.  MSU isn't as good and OSU is better than last year.  Don't think it's going to be a blowout by any stretch.
