Man I thought Meyer was going to attack the official after that flag.

That hit was incredible. That really got the OSU section going in the stadium. I loved it.

I suppose El Guapo should have just launched a shoulder into the guy, wrapped him up, and drilled him into next week.

It actually reminds me of the hit Big Vern Gholston laid on Chad Henne a few years ago.

I almost think Hyde looked like it startled when he realized the guy didn't call fair catch.  He was kind of flat footed and stopped then all the sudden it was like it clicked in his head that Oh Shit the guy didn't signal for fair catch, I need to hit him.  I don't think he meant to go as high as he did, but he still hit high.  Either way it doesn't matter I suppose, malicious or not he still got the penalty. 

The guy caught the ball just under his facemask and the ball is under his chin. That is where Hyde hit him not in the face but the ball under his chin. I think a bad call.

Fast/normal speed looks like a shot to the head, the ref does not have the luxury of slow mo.

I feel it's clean.  I felt like he may have been trying to knock the ball out.  The receiver caught the ball high and it's hard to tell at that speed.

The only reason it's a penalty is because Hyde went high with both arms. In other words, it could've been called "hands to the face" but it was pretty egregious and hard.

If he had gone low (helmet/hands/whatever), it not only would've been clean, but probably would have been a fumble/touchdown. I believe the reason that Coach Meyer exploded was becaue he thought the refs were going to call kick-catch interference (and that the refs had misinterpretted the MSU player waving it off as a FC call), and he even later admitted it was the correct call.

To the poster above me, he could have hit him in the chest rather than in the face, that was the other option. Like Meyer said today, Hyde doesn't have much experience in tackling since he's a runningback.

Not sure if people don't have HD or what but if you look closely enough, you'll notice that he hits in the chest, then the returner's head snaps back from the force of the chest hit.  But the refs made the correct call based on the apparent evidence in real time...

I thought the call was because the returner tried signaling 'fair catch' which was complete b.s. because he DIDN'T.  Now, if the call was because 'Hyde hit him in the head,' I'm okay with that, especially after watching the gif where you can see Hyde does clearly hit him just ever so slightly below the facemask - which, in my opinion, was rightly called for a penalty.

D5K, that's ridiculous! If a player takes such force to the chest, his head would 'pull'  forward. For his head to snap back like that, he would have to get hit from behind. Think about it like whiplash in a car accident. What happens when you take a frontal impact as opposed to a rear impact?
