Best B1G Team Following Week 1?

Just wanted to get everyone's take on how they would rank the B1G teams following week 1. I think this is going to be a very, very average group of teams this season. My take:

1. Ohio State/Nebraska

2. Nebraska/Ohio State

3. Michigan State

4. Wisconsin

5. Michigan

6. Northwestern

7. Minnesota

8. Illinois

9. Purdue

10. Penn State

11. Iowa

12. Indiana

I really don't think I'm making a homer pick when I say Ohio State is the best team in the B1G right now. If the pass D can improve, I think this team can be great.

I think the ACC is better than the B1G this year. sad

I thought Nebraska looked pretty good and they will be tough to beat. MSU has potential to be pretty good once they develop a passing game. Wisconsin despite winning a close one looked pretty solid at times. I think they have a pretty well balanced offense and the defense is about like last year. Michigan lost big to BAMA but I think they will bounce back and will contend. If I had to rate my top BIG 5 teams it would be: Nebraska-OSU-MSU-Wisconsin-UM. P.S. watch out for Illinois and Northwestern.

Illinois will win the Leaders division (if that is our division... I can never remember what division we're in). Beckman is a good coach.

Ohio State @ Michigan State is going to be a great game --- for all the right reasons.

Indiana @ Penn State is going to be a great game --- for all the wrong reasons.

The Big Two are just getting back on their feet, and the little ten has been weak for some time now. Not sure what's so surprising...

Too many people are writing off MSU. Their defense is legit. LeVon Bell is legit. The rest of the offense is suspect.

OSU and MSU are at the top of the B1G with Nebraska, Illinois right behind them.

Minnie should be right there with Indiana at the bottom.

Agree totally with those saying the B1G sucks. We are the ACC right now.

Since I don't care about the rest the conference, this is fine. If Meyer gets us where I think he'll get us then we can pound everybody in conference by forty, beat somebody good out of conference, then go to the BCS/eventual playoff.

it would be nice if TSUN, Sparty, Wisconsin, and Nebraska could up their games so we'll have some strength of schedule. What would be nicer would be if we could somehow get Texas and Oklahoma to join (not happening, I know).

dont put tsun down too far because of what happened saturday night..as its been mentioned the BIG pretty much sucks this year..and i think it would have been a very similar result for just about every other team in the confrence, maybe the country, against bama. still gotta have them at 2. if they win the confrence that will just look awful. maybe nebraska at 2. just dont put too much into the fact they got throttled by bama, just about everyone in this confrence would

Well i like college and i like football...and im gunna keep doin em both cause they make me feel good!!!

My top 5 are:

1. MSU- There defense is pretty awesome and Bell isn't bad

2.tOSU- we loooked ok but MSU beat the 23rd team and we beat Miami(OH)

3.Wisc- Only because of Montee Ball

4. Nebraska-  They didn't have Burkhead for most of that game

5. Mich- they looked bad but better than everbody else

Hard to judge after just one game but my picks from the start would hold for now:  Michigan St, Ohio St, Wisconsin, Michigan. I wouldn't change just yet but give Nebraska and Illinios credit. It would be ok with me if one of them would win the Big Ten this year since we can't! Either way I'm just thankful that football is back!!!

Nebraska looked the best.  Easily.  That Southern Miss team wasn't a gimme.  MSU second best, OSU 3rd, Michigan 4th.

Wisconsin, Iowa, PSU did not look good, at all.

Everyone else, somewhere in between.

Clearly, week one isn't the best benchmark to rank a conference.  I think Boise and MSU, and Nebraska and Southern Miss, and NW and Syracuse were the games that were pretty good tests.

I agree that Week One performances aren't the best benchmark for ranking the conference, BUT if that's what we're using, I don't think Michigan can be in the top 5. Yes, I know they played the best team in the country, but it is what it is. They looked BAD. Now Alabama can make anyone look bad, so getting drilled by them is not even close to being as bad as losing to Ohio U or barely beating Northern Illinois or Northern Iowa. I do expect Michigan will rebound and look much better in the weeks to come.

Obviously, I hate the loss.  And I hate the thought of scheduling big games that we lose.  But I think the risk/reward of doing that will trump beating Western Michigan or UCONN 31-7.

I hope the players look at it the way I do in that, yeah, maybe that had their A$$ handed to them on a platter, but they had some flashes of success against bama.  I know they're not the same defense, but Michigan gained more yards and tied for the most points scored against Bama last year by any opponent.  Not the best measuring stick, but it's something to learn from and benefit from.

I think ESPN & Rittenberg ranked OSU 5th today in their B1G power rankings.
