Me and a friend of mine are going to Columbus this weekend for the Nebraska game. Where are some great bars to hit up near campus? Also, what are some must eat restaurants in town? I have never been to Columbus, so this is a first experience for me. I will be back for the Illinois game too, so hopefully I can visit some different places that weekend.

ive grown up in columbus and am now a senior at ohio state, so i hope i can give you some helpful advise. For campus area bars, out-r-inn, little bar, and the varsity club are the well known places. As far as general columbus resteraunts, i would say thurmans, schmidts, and katzingers deli (all in german village) are some of the best places to eat. Thurmans would be my first choice, they have one helluva burger.
Can't lose with Schmidt's. Was featured on Man vs Food episode along with Thurmans.
City Barbecue, except - I don't think there are any City BBQ locations right near campus, which is surprising

If you go to Thurmans, eat first. It will help you through your 3hr wait for a table. If you have a party of 2, you may luck out and get a bar stool. Man vs Food ruined Thurmans.
Bucktoooooooth, heeyaw.
Bucktooth, Thurman's was just as popular years ago as it is now that MvF had it on. I remember back in 06, my girlfriend lives in German Village. The only time we could get in without at least a 45 min-1 hr wait was if we went in on like Tuesday at 3 in the afternoon. That places has always had a cult-like following.
Actually, there will be a City Barbeque on campus this Saturday.
For breakfast, Jack & Bennys on High is fantastic. If you can't make it up there, The "Hangover Easy" (it pains me to write that. Dumbest name I've ever heard. Nick's Diner was classic) is a pretty good place for breakfast. Solid omelettes. The Blue Danube is pretty good for lunch. Off campus, if you can't make it all the way south to German Village, Brazenhead is always pretty good.
Go to Eddie George's grill and order a "Heisman." Spent most of my college loan money on this beverage.
SOX-
Your last sentence contradicts yourfirst sentence. It did have a cult following. Now it has a mainstream following and the wait has doubled. Plus, I heard you and the alleged GV girlfriend weren't exclusive anyway.

At the risk of typing another 1000+ word essay, I will provide you with some reference links instead:
The first link has the most current information, since there's a lot of turnover on dive bars on High Street.
Eskimo bros??
does anyone know if tickets still avaiable for the mi-shit-gan game??
Brutus is........The People's Champ!!!!
Thanks for all of the help guys... I was going to go to Eat Too, Brutus, but they ran out of the $25 tickets before I could buy them, so it looks like I will be bar hopping most of the weekend.
The bars recommended were out-r-inn, little bar, and varsity club. I'm a late 20's married guy and my friend is a 30's married guy... Are these good spots for us? Don't want to be caught in the middle of a bunch of college kids... Really looking for a good sports bar where we can drink before the game and watch other games.
Hangover Easy is god awful. Do yourself a favor and go to Northstar in the Short North or Katalina's in Vic Village for breakfast
Katalina's is terrible imo. Northstar is very good.
Zeno's is the best bar in Columbus.
Help is on the way.
