Per ESPN, Urban is keeping in contact with Alex Anzalone. I wonder if this has anything to do with Mike Mitchell not being as close to a slam dunk as everyone once thought. Would he take Anzalone and Mitchell if it came down to it?

I posed the same question yesterday... I think it's a waste of time. I don't believe there is a chance at all that Anzalone becomes a Buckeye... I think we should focus on flipping McMillan from FL and the other LB commit from Auburn that has interest.
I wasn't on the site yesterday, and didn't see your post. I just looked at it, and yeah, I'm pretty much in agreement with everything said there. Doesn't hurt to keep the communication open, but I don't think we get him.
Coach was able to make calls as of Sept. 1st, so he called to say he understands everything and he'd have a home at tOSU if anything ever happened with ND. I highly doubt Coach Meyer is failing to call other LB recruits because he spent too much time on the phone with Alex.

You have to remember, this is a guy Urban built a personal relationship with in the recruiting process, up until and after his commitment. He probably cares about how AAs senior year is going, and takes actual stock in his development.
AA had reportedly asked Urban to stop recruiting him in the past (before committing to ND), so I'm sure this is just a courtesy call as Buck-I.8 says. Even if Notre Dame loses every game on their schedule from here out I wouldn't count on this class falling apart.
squash the Anzalone talk....Alex said he gladly spoke to Urban and appreciates him checking in and on his family, but doesn't plan to change his mind
Personally I don't want him after the drama from earlier... Please let him go on.
What in the world has happened to Mike Mitchell?!?!
@scarlet_buckeye He's pushed back his decision date a bit until he's gone on his OVs. Alex thinks he'll be a Buckeye after visiting OSU. That's good enough for me. Just one of those things HS kids do during the recruiting process.
Mitchell sounds like a diva to me. i understand he's a kid and that's what kids do, whatever but appears to me that he likes the attention.
I disagree. Everything I've read about the kid says that he's not, he's a pretty quiet, Christian kid who blew up on the scene after The Opening. The big reason a lot of these kids seem like divas is because the recruiting sites literally follow everything they do, so we hear about it all. I think that he's still the same as he's always been, an OSU visit away from committing. He just hasn't had the opportunity yet to get out here (rumors also swirling that his dad wasn't too keen on the idea, but he's since said they're headed to Columbus for an OV). I mean, he's gone on record saying that he almost pulled a Marcus Baugh and committed without even seeing the campus.
Danman, I have no idea what you're talking about. If anything, Mitchell has been pretty quiet about his recruitment. His Dad convinced him he needs to at least visit a school before committing. That's not a bad thing, imo.
Yeah the kid's a diva for wanting to take his official visits to find the college that he'll be attending for the next 3-5 years......
Haha seriously the kids the complete opposite of a diva.

Wrong topic...
maybe diva was the wrong word. wouldn't be surprised if we dont get the guy that was an "80% lock" two months ago.
Why would the parents look into jobs in Columbus? Their sons will only be gone 3-5 years. What happens when they make it to the pro's, parents can't follow them around their whole life.

Mike would be here 3-5 years and Mickey (2015? bball) would be here at least 1 yr. I can see why they'd wanna move closer. If my kids go a far distance away to school and are elite athletes working towards the next level, I'd love to be able to move closer. If they got the money to do it, do it. Wonder if thats why Mr. Mitchell keeps delaying on scheduling a visit. Can't find work close maybe?
Just noticed wrong topic! Long week.....
The 2 things that I was thinking is man urban must really think this kid is a special player to keep recruiting him after all the drama and the other thing is how good must the florida LBer commits be to not accept AA's commitment.
"Mitchell sounds like a diva to me. i understand he's a kid and that's what kids do, whatever but appears to me that he likes the attention."
I strongly disagree.....he hasn't been running around playing the recruiting game....why would you commit before you visit....kind of like buying a car without test driving it first!!
A diva, oh brother. We stalk him trying to get all the information we can and call him a diva when he doesn't just decide when we think he should be ready. We poke, we prode, we force him to give us the latest inclinations so we can predict his decision. The kid is making a pretty big decisions and has said he wants to take official visits before he decides... sounds like SOUND judgement to me. If that is what a diva is I hope more people are like that.
Facepalm post...
