I'm at the Springfield / Wayne game watching Thaddeus and Davonte James....42-0 Wayne at half. Springfield might be one of the worst high school teams I've ever seen. Thaddeus had one good reception on an underthrow but everything else his way has been intercepted or really poorly thrown. Davonte looks small. Needs to spend more ttime in the weight room because he can't get off blocks atall.

On a field that got 4 inches of rain Timmons only got 5 touches for 125 yds and 2 TDs and also an interception returned 50 yards. Probably the first game I have seen him play where he had to depend on his balanc more than his speed but with 2 men lined up against him and a safety gave him few opportunities   Just happy on a field as muddy as this one was nobody got injured

James Quick had 8 catches for 144 yards and a TD against rival St. X. Also, was voted as Great American Rivalry Series MVP.

Was listening to the game online and apparently his TD was an absolutely insane catch and run, broadcaster said it might be best run from Quick he has ever seen. Will post video if I can find it.

golden Buckeye. I agree about the comp level to a degree but also realize the reason he only gets 6 touches per game is because of the triple coverage he gets as a receiver opens up everyone else. When he lines up as RB  the entire defense lines up to stop him. My guess is that if he played for Moeller the numbers would be even better.

Eagle_Eye i hope that the recent decision of derrick henry to go to bama helps us with the Jalen Hurd situation as he is certainly is putting up ridiculous stats and seems to be a beast. It is a shame about Fields as i thought he hand reliable hands but if his scholie goes to Timmons than thats a chance i would certainly take bring him in and just find a way to get him the ball. I dont need to tell Waycracken that Timmons could def help us in the return game as i think he could thrive in it and give us a weapon there we havent had since TGII. Lastly, im pumped for this game today lets hope our boys play a cmplete game in all three phases! O-H!

Timmons team would run up 60 against Springfield and score against any other team as well. 4 players on his team runs 4.5 or less and a 6'3" 260 RB that runs 4.6. Not many teams anywhere would be faster than Franklin County. Im from Ohio and I know his team would be competitive with Trotwood. What speed and vision you see on that video cannot be duplicated. You have a kid that runs a 4.31 and doesnt lose a step with pads. I agree that he can make his comp level look like middle schoolers but thats what all the great ones do. I saw a game on TV with Trotwood and they looked like a Frshman team! So what!!!  Burrows is still a D1 stud!!

ODEEZ. I have been thinking that same thing but have refrained because I like Barker also irregardless of who they play. Talent and speed is what we should all be looking for. Its the hidden gems that are harder to find but can give the highest reward. Look at the NFL rosters. These coaches are finding players from all divisions and comp levels. Patriot teams are stocked with hidden gems.

Thanks waycraken. Will they face any higher caliber teams in the state playoffs? I'm assuming they are in different division than Quick's team? Does Kentucky have more strict rules about transferring than Ohio schools? It seems like most elite kids in Ohio tend to find a way to transfer to the big schools.

When Shaun Alexander was at Boone, Boone and Highlands where in completely different divisions.  Highlands may have won the state that year but it was in AAA.  Boone and Alexander lost to Trinity in the AAAA state championship game.

Highlands isn't in Conner's division either.  Conner is a AAAAA team this year.  Highlands is AAAA.  They aren't even in the same division in state play.  Conner doesn't play Highlands this year, and rest assured, Highlands would beat them.  Conner has lost to lesser programs this year so far.  Barker has still played damn good though, it's not his fault the defense sucks.

Timmons and Franklin County I believe are 5(A) which means they avoid Trinity, St. X, Highlands, and other power teams from other divisions.  I don'tk now who they will or won't play but, they'll definitely miss the teams in the playoffs that are best in state.

That being said, they are in the 2nd highest division in KY high school football so they'll surely play some bigger schools, but 4(A) and 6A have better programs.

Timmons team is in the same division as Bowling Green and John Hardin. Both of those teams could beat Highlands and Franklin County could as well. Bowling Green has already beaten St X this year. Offensively Franklin County could hang with any team in the state. Unfortunately Timmons team has the same problem as Conner (defense)and that is there weakness. Franklin County averages 61.5 pts a game.

I hear the same thing about Highlands every year though.  This team is just as good, or that team can beat them, then Highlands plays that team and hangs 50 or 60 on them.  The least Highlands has scored all year is 35 points, and it was against their arch rival in the area Cov Cath.  Last year regular season Cov Cath(Edit) hung with and almost upset Highlands, then they played in the playoffs and Highlands completely destroyed them.

I'll take Highlands over any school in Kentucky not named Trinity.

USA today's highschool site has Highlands ranked number 2 in Kentucky.  Bowling Green and Hardin are 3 and 5, Franklin County is 13th.  Consequently, Cov Cath, The team Highlands just beat by 2 TD's was 8th. Scott County is 10th and Highlands put up 60 on them.

Highlands is a great team. My point was Trinity and then the rest   BG beat StX i think about the same as Trinity. Franklin County is ranked near the top 10 irregardless of class the best they will play before playoffs is Anderson County, a team they beat I believe 49-21 last year. The last 3 teams they play this year have a combined record of 14-5. Against these 3 schools last year Timmons scored14 TDs.

I'm not knocking Timmons, I'm just saying they aren't going to be playing teams that will get the folks who say he isn't playing the same amount of competition as Quick satisfied.  I think there's exactly 1 team in Kentucky that would beat Highlands.  They've won a state title in their divsion, which has changed since 2007, and they are smacking fools again this year. Highlands has lost 2 games since 2007, 1 to a Kentucky team, the other to Colerain.  Until someone does it, I don't believe anyone in Kentucky beats Highlands.

I would say it's Trinity, then Highlands, then EVERYONE else.  I would love to see a Highlands Trinity matchup myself.  Trinity probably wins, but I'm guessing it'd be a pretty damn good game.  Not sure Trinity has matched up with the offense Highlands has.

Trinity scrimmage Highlands this year 1 week before the season began. If I remember correctly the score was something like 62-7 at half time and most said Trinity could have ran it to 100 if they had wanted. I know thats pre season and for real I dont think it would be that bad again.

Yeah, I'm not going to take too much away from a scrimmage though.  Only game Highlands will have a shot at losing on their schedule this year is Elder, but Elder isn't great and Highlands beat them last year too.  You know what they say about playing and beating up on a GCL team(I kid).  I'd like to see them play a real game just the same.  In the past Highlands has done well when playing the big Louisville schools, and they usually compete with the Elders and Colerains when they go over to play them as well.

They don't have a Timmons or Quick most years, but both Guiduligis were pretty good.  Smith and Lorenzon were freaks of nature, Brent Grover was good, Collinsworth's kid too.  They definitely have had their share of great players.  Definitely not as many as a team like Trinity, they have a much bigger recruiting base and higher payroll lol.

Kentucky definitely doesn't typically have great classes, but there have been quite a few notable recruits lately.  Last year Dixie Heights QB from here in NKY went to Auburn.  He's already been kicked out of the school, didn't even get to start the season.  We all know about Barker.  Trinity has a lot of kids that'll be going D-1.  Timmons, and many others.  Not sure if certain areas developed better youth football a few years back or it's just a flukey couple of years or what, but there definitely is better than normal talent coming from the Bluegrass state the last couple years.

You really have to resapect the efforts of this kid no matter what, he worked his tail off to get noticed by OSU.  Competition and schedules you cannot control, just perform and give 110% percent each week.  Really hope there is a spot for him as it is hard to overlook some of the offers he has on the table to date.

Do you guys see Timmons as more of a slot guy or could he be a #1 type WR? If he can play outside, then I would definitely want him, if we miss out on Quick. If he is more of a slot guy, then I can see why he has not been offered, since Jacobs and possibly Marshall would fill that role.

Ausmos. With coaching Timmons could become a #1 WR type. He is triple teamed so much that Im not sure of the answer to that question. His team uses him in large part as decoy because of the amount of coverage he receives. That is why he is only averaging 6-8 touches a game. His body type is beginning to look more like a strong RB than a thin WR. I think it is limit less on how he could be used.
