Correct me if I'm wrong, but I remember hearing Ohio State would unveil their 2012 edition of the Nike Pro Combat uniforms during the month of September; has anyone heard anything new since then? Any updates on when we may see the big reveal?

In the previous years Ohio State seems to be the one school whose pro combat jerseys always honor a past team. Wouldn't you think something more of a throw back then a futuristic chrome look?
With all due respect to the past teams, throwing something out there crazy and futuristic would be fun even though there is only about a 5% chance the majority of fans would actually like the design.

Last year's uni's had kind of a "future look". They looked like Ironman! I'm ok with having a once a season crazy uni. It's the kids that wear them, and I think they like it - it's a cool recruiting incentive, too. So long as it is on Nike's dime, we should keep doing it, and it give fans to pick up a different style jersey if they like them.
Personally, a shiny sliver helment would be a great exclaimation point for the "silver bullet" defense.

I wouldn't mind something a little out there just once. After the last 3 years they are pretty much running out of years to do in a throwback. Even the current jersey worn every saturday is more or less a "throwback" to the Earle Bruce years.

i'm actually pretty anxious about these b/c i always look out for them and order as soon as i can. i've literally heard NOTHING this year. Usually they at least have a website on nike running all of the release dates and everything but they have NOTHING this year..pretty confused

I wouldn't expect the players to say anything negative about them. Nike hooks them up all year with nice stuff, they are going to like anything that comes down the pike. The fans are the only ones who care about it, and a ton of them go out and buy the new jersies anyway. I loved last years pro combat uni. I don't really see it as any kind of recruiting advantage though.
Maybe some see-thru mesh belly jersey's with iron on high gloss numbers.... thats a true throwback. Make everyone wear giant elbow pads and neck rolls while we are at it.
Dustin Fox was our leading tackler as a corner.... because his guy always caught the ball.
I'd like to see a chrome helmet similar to either the chrome helmet Oregon wears or the new look Rutgers helmets. I think if we wore them with a black jersey with scarlet #'s oulined in gray with gray pant's it would look pretty sick.
Here's my hope...
Black on Black w/Scarlett piping...Silver Numbers...Matte Black Helmet w/Block O on the sides. This would give me a chub. I know people are going to say "Don't mess the uniform". I think for a game or two no big deal.
EDIT: Also would take said unis with a chrome helmet.

I'm all about changing the uniforms up for a game. Don't get me wrong I love the tradition we have with our jerseys, changing it up for one game especially if they have a cool look to the younger generation could only help us in recruiting.

Not new to the site, but new in terms of commenting/having an account. I saw this thread this morning and put in for an account to share this picture. I was on ebay and this guy sells Nike game jerseys and warm ups from big time D1 football and basketball programs. He had a Rob Sims jersey that I was interested in, and looking at his other stuff (USC, Oregon, UNC, etc.) I found this jersey labeled as '2012 OSU Pro Combat'. No big deal or hoopla made about it, and there was no advertisement other than that. Made it seem as if it wasn't supposed to be seen yet.
Now, I'm definitly a skeptic, I just figured it would be worth sharing and seeing what you all thought!

I would personally love to see like an all black uniform, all scarlet or all grey something to just switch it up ... and if it was a all black uniform make it a night game and have a black out in the stadium
I would love to see something what Georgia did a few years back. Keep it a suprise and bust the jerseys out game time against Meeechigan. That would get the crowd and the players fired up. Black jerseys with a chrome helmet would be pretty awesome.
if DRUMSONTHESIDE's picture were a prototype from 2008 or 2009, the #5 would have been for either a Sophomore (2008) or Junior (2009) Chimdi Chekwa or Taurian Washington.
The jesey looks nice, but would have to see the pants and helmet with it to know for sure.
I remember seeing thap picture back in 2009, it was the home jersey prototype of the '54 tribute jersey.

You know, I've honestly never seen it for sale (doesn't mean it's not though). The only things that I've seen for sale related to last year's Pro Combat line are the associated hats, shirts, and gloves.
I thought those tree bark base layers were pretty cool.
As Troy alluded to, it was confirmed by OSU that the jerseys would be unveiled by the end of September. So, one party (OSU or Nike) has delayed the launch, or Nike is BS'ing everyone. The lack of buzz though on the part of Nike is very, very odd.
I think the base layer compression fit shirts may only be available to players. I have not been able to find them anywhere(nike, eastbay, ebay, osu stores). That goes for all teams too. Just cant find them
I think an awesome helmet would be one that is identical to our normal ones (buckeye leaves and all) but instead of silver was chrome. Middle ground?

I wouldn't imagine you will be able to find the new pro combats (or those pictured above) until after they are formally introduced and we know what game they will be worn in. Even then, you may not be able to purchase one of the jerseys until after the game we wear them in
