Wasn't sure if anyone mentioned or attached a link about this earlier today. Looks like Vernon Gholston is going to have a shot in St. Louis. Here's hoping James Laurinaitis can show Big Vern the ropes down in STL.

i always liked vernon and was shocked defenses couldnt use him to get after the qb
mark may wins douchebag of the year... again
This may be his last chance.
Tomorrow
Man I hope so. I was thrilled when he got a shot with the Bears last year. I figured with a great D Line coach in Marinelli and a monster in Peppers, Vern would be in great shape if he made the team.
4-6 seconds from point A to point B and when you get to point B, be pissed off
I really don't think it was a situation where the defense couldn't use him to get after the qb. I think it's a situation where ol' Vern could not figure out how to get after the qb using technique rather than brute strength. Style doesn't work when your 6'2" 260 in the NFL. Good luck to him though, I always enjoyed watching him on Saturdays in Cbus.
Step 1 for him would be an Urban Meyer mantra: going hard for 4-6 seconds every play. Lack of effort is a big red flag, and he's always had that problem.
As a Jets fan, I get a lot of crap from other Jets fans for the OSU players they end up with. Drafted Nugent in the first round (maybe early second) and he didn't pan out for them, Gholston was a massive bust, Holmes won't shut his mouth...Mangold is the only one I can fall back on. So it'd be nice to see him figure it out, even if it ends up being for the Rams.
When told OSU set school record for 50+ games this year, UFM said "That's good. We're gonna break that next year."
Too bad it's for one of the worst Defenses in the NFL...good luck to him.

"I love football. I think it is most wonderful game in world and I despise to lose."

@Hop...thats why its a good opportunity for him. Give him the chance to see the field and prove himself
Guy always had stiff hips, he's a true WDE in the NFL when teams stop trying to stand him up then they'll get his worth out of him
Everyone makes a good point..I think Vernon was a great Buckeye, broke Vrabels sack record..owned Jake long in that 2007 game. I never thought he was top 10 good..I think his freak combine numbers made him more appealing than his lack of motor and stiffness.
Teams don't really use him to his best ability as rural Meyer said..it's a shame really, hope he makes the most out of this last chance.
OSUBIAS: it's funny you say that because I live in long island now and Married into a jets family..so I always have to hear the stuff about Vernon as well. The Jets don't really draft well in the 1st round in general..Revis, Mangold, and Ferguson(overrated I think though) are really the only good 1st round picks the jets have made....team's a mess IMO. Oh well they have two great buckeyes in Mangold as Holmes.

They'll probably do well, but I hope they don't have to play in a BCS game.
(I kid because I love)
I got to meet Vernon when he was coming out @ the EASTWOOD MALL in NILES(Everything Buckeyes)....Got a pic signed and chatted.....Found out like me HE IS A RAMS FAN and has been for a long time....So best of luck Vernon !
Love it, I hope that he does well for himself and that no one ever tries to make the guy play linebacker again. What a waste of the guys otherworldly talent to take on offensive tackles one on one and get to the QB.
COme on Vernon, here is your shot! No other defense sucks as bad, this should be easy!
@BuckeyeJason, I feel your pain. The genesis of my Jets fandom was marriage, as well. Luckily she converted to a Buckeye fan as well, so we get along well on the weekends.

Ha! What a small world huh? I kind of "pretend" to root for the jets for their sake..but deep down inside I can't stand Rex Ryan, Taunenbaum..hell even Woody Johnson. I feel like they're all about shits and giggles..publicity, making "flashy" moves with the players they bring in..and dont truely know what the hell they are doing.

Not to mention Sanchez...ugh.

Sanchez, Mr. Soft serve. That's a guy who will get his career ruined playing for the NY Jets.
