Or he could be saying he's laughing at him now...like "ohh, what's his name, that guy who turned down a chance to star at Ohio State to go play for f'n Maryland." Who the hell's going to throw the ball to him now?? Not that there was anyone worthwhile before anyway.
I don't know the original intent, but I did take it the same way you guys did on first glance.
Nothing poor in taste about it at all. Posting up some news is pretty normal on a football message board. And I get his point about Stefon Diggs. It was an obvious bad choice for his football career originally picking a nobody school like Maryland, and now it looks even worse, although he can't predict the future. Either way, hopefully it works out for Diggs in the long run.
Definitely would've had a better chance at Ohio State catching passes from Braxton Miller, though. Especially with Jordan Hall being out with that freak injury. Talk about every opportunity having been presented.
Exclaimation points make you seem excited. I don't know why he would be excited that someone went down with an injury, unless he was making a dig at Diggs.
The butthurt on this site lately is hilarious...When Diggs went to Maryland it was basically, "omg what a moron I hope he understands he ruined his career." Then, when it comes to light that he possibly has, "Dude, what's wrong with you, you're so insensitive." How does that work? Of course we are talking about a student athlete, but, what a double standard.
It may have been, but it is what happened. I'm not disputing that, I'm just noting how quickly opinions change and how fast we are to demonize each other.
Ya all are acting like children bickering back and forth. Obviously it was a bit of a dig at Diggs. No one is happy that ANY college athlete has an injury. Geeze...
@ BUCKIFAN- yeah...you're exactly right, sometimes people just let that lead to insults...we should be a family here. I may have come off the wrong way, and if I did, I am sorry.
I can't stand the sensitivities around here anymore. My goodness! We slam players all the time! This is a forum! That's what people do! I have more of a problem with people slamming other Buckeye fans then the players. Geez
i saw absolutely no problem with this post. He was not making fun of someone getting injured, just the plight in which diggs now finds himself in. that's all.
Everyone is far too touchy to be playing on the internet nowadays.
It's funny how things excalate by people telling others to cool off or stop being so sensitive. It almost has the opposite effect, just look at the wizadry of excalting post from mastermind, wow!
I'm not sure that another school's QB suffering a serious injury is the best way to mock someone for choosing that other school. An injury like this could happen anywhere to anybody. I'm not saying this is poor taste, but I question the logic a bit. I figure that if you want to dig him for going to Maryland, just watch their sucky football team, and their ugly ass uniforms, and that should suffice.
If Diggs is talented enough it won't really matter who his quarterback is. I mean Calvin Johnson did ok for himself at Georgia Tech despite having the putrid Reggie Ball as his QB. Would have loved to see him as a Buckeye, but I just don't see the point of all this animosity toward a kid that decided to stay close to home.
Diggs will make some highlight worth moments regardless of who his QB is...his potential is through the roof! Still very bummed, we weren't able to land him.
But I think he will do just fine at MD. And if he's happy there, then good for him, I hope he does well. I can't blame a guy for choosing his home school!
If you dont have anything nice to say about the poster, dont comment on the post, no body needs to be a PC cop...anyways, sad news for the kid, but Maryland was in below average shape before this, now they may be bottom feeders yet again, even in the ACC.
BuckIFan4Life, check your reading comprehension skills. I never said he's the next Calvin Johnson or that they were similar types of recievers. Was just using Calvin as an example of a talented WR that had success despite having a terrible QB.
So you used Calvin Johnson as the "example"? Why not use our very own Posey or maybe Brandon Lloyd when he played for Illinois or even in Denver with Tebow at QB? But no, you decided to use for example arguably the best receiver in the NFL. And I need to check my skills...
You obviously forgot just how bad Reggie Ball was as a passer. Posey's QB situation here wasn't that bad at all and Brandon Llyod played with Kurt Kittner at Illinois who was a very capable college QB (also Llyod got traded to the Rams midseason and didn't spend much time with Denver while Tebow was starting). For the third time the point I'm trying to make is that IF Diggs is as talented as some people believe he could be, he'll be fine even with spotty QB play.
Posey had a good QB in Pryor, Brandon Lloyd was part of Illi while they won the Big Ten in 2001 and had Kirt Kittner who set most of the Illi passing records. I think the point was to show a guy who, in spite of his QB, was drafted high and had success. He picked the most relevant guy who everyone could quickly relate to. Johnsons QB was Reggie Ball, who is by all standards a TERRIBLE QB and would have had worse stats had he not been throwing to Calvin Johnson. It is the most relevent best fit available currently. We could dig back, but everyone knows who CJ is.
If you wanted to dig, AJ Jenkins is a good pick for a comparison. Despite going to Illinois and having Scheelhaase as his QB he was drafted in the first round of the NFL draft last year. But his name isn't the first person you think of.
As a football fan who pays attention outside of our beloved Ohio State Buckeyes, Jenkins is a much better "example". So I'll try this for the last time. Calvin Johnson would make ANY QB look decent. Diggs doesn't appear to have the skill set to say the same. Maybe he will emerge as a good playmaker at some point though.
BTW: Pryor struggles as a QB. I strongly believe the NFL is over his head. Is Kittner even in the NFL? Tebow is nothing to write home about either and I don't believe he ever will be anything more than a fad. I think the receivers I offered were excellent examples also. CJ could make the posters on here look decent at QB.
The fact that you're sticking by your awful examples that were shown to be awful not once but twice (and by someone other than myself) confirms my previous suspicion about your reading comprehension skills. You keep trying to twist my original post into soemthing it isn't, it's a comparison of talent (potential talent really in the case of Diggs) in the broadest sense of the word, while you are looking at it as a direct comparison of the skill sets of Diggs and Johnson (which it never was).
Essentially he is making a RELATIVE example, not a ABSOLUTE example. You are trying to take it as CJ and Diggs would have the skills set, while he simply meant that if Diggs is good enough, he can shine regardless of his QB as did CJ. He never once made any indication he said he would be as good or shine as bright as CJ, to keep poking at that really makes you look like you have a bone to pick with him and could care less about what he actually said. There is no reason to ride him on this if in fact he has replied and said that was not his intent.
I simply do not agree with you. Since this is somewhat still America and hasn't been fully destroyed (yet), my opinion is what it is. I'm sorry if you cannot handle that. We'll just have to agree to disagree on this one.
Buckifan4Life disagrees with Big Swede on his own intent of what he said... huh? There is America, free to do what you want, which also means people have a right to be kinda dumb...
I get it, a couple of BFF's... I didn't know this forum was so sensitive. I didn't mean to hurt your feelings with what I still believe is a bad example.
Odds on Randy Edsall keeping his job after this season. I bet they wish they had stuck with Friedgen. Running off Danny O'Brien, and only having 3 QB's on their roster isn't a smar decision. I wouldn't be shocked to see a Penn State QB head there to play right away, like the McGregor kid.
Dustin Fox was our leading tackler as a corner.... because his guy always caught the ball.
This is in poor taste. And I'm being nice.
that athlete was diggs and what does that have to do with the poor qb who got hurt? does maryland not have another qb?
yes i know
Or he could be saying he's laughing at him now...like "ohh, what's his name, that guy who turned down a chance to star at Ohio State to go play for f'n Maryland." Who the hell's going to throw the ball to him now?? Not that there was anyone worthwhile before anyway.
I don't know the original intent, but I did take it the same way you guys did on first glance.
Nothing worng with reporting Terps QB out for the year, but the way this was done was definitely in poor taste.
Especially after O'Brian transferred to Wisky

Razr, it SEEMS like a "ha" post at Diggs, which is what everyone is saying is in poor taste.
Exclaimation points make you seem excited. I don't know why he would be excited that someone went down with an injury, unless he was making a dig at Diggs.
seemed like a "HA" post to me. so diggs went elsewhere, i dont see what the problem is with a guy wanting to play other places than our beloved osu.

highwire, was stupid to say back then and is stupid to mock him more now.

Thanks, that's exactly what I needed to hear.
Woodysglasses- I was not trying to instigate, but rather pointing out something that I have noticed...

For you debbie-downers: if you see a post you don't like, just move on to the next topic. No need to make insults.

Diggs is no Calvin Johnson. The measurables aren't even close. C'mon, Really?

Steensn gets it, and Jenkins is a great comparison by the way.
Yes, but I wouldn't expect anyone to dig up someone else just to avoid a CJ reference. I took it at face value as it was meant.
As a football fan who pays attention outside of our beloved Ohio State Buckeyes, Jenkins is a much better "example". So I'll try this for the last time. Calvin Johnson would make ANY QB look decent. I'll predict diggs will be out of school..or at least Maryland in a year or two. Dudes got prima donna written all over him.

Jason, you don't even know Diggs. It's extremely unfair to make accusations about him in that fashion.

Had he opted to come to OSU, would you still feel he'd be gone from OSU in 2 years?
