I've read a lot about our OL guys being taught poor or archaic technique by Bollman and them having to completely relearn how to play offensive line in the NFL and being behind other prospects from other schools because of this. What specifically did Bollman do differently from standard technique that was so off?

We're still trying to figure that one out!
^you sir, won the internet tonight!
"Love my State, hate the football"
And I thank you! HA HA
Bollman knew techniques?
An angry fan...rooting for an angry team...led by angry coaches
Addition by subtraction... Heacock never impressed me either.
Honestly it's just a completely different system philosophy and way of execution....let's also factor in that when you run Dave into 8 man stacked boxes your o lines will look worse than they are...my qualms with Bollman weren't technique it was job as O-coordinator and that he recruited too few linemen because he believed in interchangeable parts....
If you don't like Heacock not sure what I can really say other than did you watch Ohio State's defense the last 8 years?????? I know there were some great players but ask anyone around the game the guy is legit
@ALEX - Heacock was a superb d-coordinator, but I'll admit that I preferred Dantonio's more agressive defense. I'll ask you this, if Heacock is coaching OSU's D in 2002, does Cie Grant blitz Ken Dorsey from the corner on 4th and goal? Personally, I don't think he does.
Heacock never impressed you? Wow, I guess having top 5 defenses every year isn't impressive. BIG expectations you have there.

Before the spring game, I heard Jim Lachey say he asked Warrinner (sp) if they were going to cut block. He responded yes. Lachey went on to say the good lines in B1G like Wisconsin and Iowa all cut block but OSU didn't. Also I saw a blocking sled in the All Access show. I can't speak for a center that can count beyond one, but I'll go out on a limb and say he can.
* Predictable play-calling set up the team and OL to fail from the beginning
* Conditioning was sub-par -- just look at how much fat the OL lost and muscle they gained between last year and this year
* As Alex stated, he didn't believe in specializing his players, so again, he set them up to fail
* Bad recruiter
* Did not believe in recruiting enough players for his position group.
So glad that clown is gone and it's no wonder Meyer fired him immediately along with Siciliano. Good riddance.
Things will be much improved once the guys get the system down. They actually have someone setting them up to succeed now. What a great feeling that has to be.
^ you hit the nail right on the head!

Hodge--I agree Dantonio vs Heacock---one is a head coach now for a reason....what was said was that Heacock never impressed him...to me that's silly
RAZRBACK16 Drilled it on Bollman but that also falls on the HC for continuing to keep him on the staff. I love JT as a mentor and an ambassador of the game but he isnt and never was my style of coach. Heacock isnt a scrub nor is he in need of bashing but I dont judge coaches on rankings, I judge them on how they perform against equally talented competition and in that respect the guy didnt impress me either and im sure some of that was not his fault (see Head coach for style and system) No one in the Big 10 has recruited anywhere near the same talent as OSU for the last 7 or 8 years, so getting an entire years defensive ranking against the Big 10 ( lets not act like we have explosive offenses everywhere you look) and some out of conference foes isnt exactly telling the entire story. I'll take Dantonio any day of the week and I know a lot of folks around here dont like him but im sure they wouldnt surrender that crystal ball from 02 either. I'll take the guy who overachieves with his talent over the the guy who underachieves everyday all day. and that my friends is the real truth of the matter, OSU has underachieved and under developed the talent they have recruited. But its over now!!!!!!!!!
The talent of our o-line the last 4 years should have made Bauserman look like a great player. The play of our o-line the last four years made us switch from Boeckman to TP because he couldn't run for his life fast enough. Bollman took great players and made them average.
"It takes a little something special to be a great player. We don't have enough great players. TO HELL WITH THAT! We don't want to coach average! I don't wanna be around ya, why be around average?! Did you push yourself to be great today?" - UFM
"Did you push yourself to be great today? If you didn't do it you lost a day. We ain't got many days to lose. We're going to push your a$$ like its never been pushed because what you've got in you were going to find out" UFM
