I don't think there's anything to this investigation; looks to me like someone at Alabama needs to call the Waabulance, not the NCAA infractions committee.

I havent checked but Im sure the college football section on ESPN will be shut down for maintenance and be right back up as soon as the investigation is over and nothing is found.
It is suspicious that the kid transfers from a high school in Georgia to one in Auburn, Alabama, and he flips from Alabama to Auburn. I don't chronologically, how these events took place, but they seem, on the surface, to be suspect.
Unlikely anything will happen. If they can get away with paying Cam Newton's dad nearly $200k with admission of guilt from the dad, the NCAA won't do anything. After all it's the SEC where ESPiN will not give fair and equal negative coverage so I'm not holding my breath. :)
^^^ESPN actually gave a lot of coverage to the Newton "scandal". The blame here is with the NCAA and their belief that Cam knew nothing of his father's actions...although I'm not sure how Miss State got off the hook.
This seem ironic that Alabama is saying Auburn cheated to get the #1 LB in the state and country...when he lives in Auburn lol. This will amount to nothing...take it to the bank...

almost 100% of ESPN personalities had the same stance on the Newton situation- they all said let's wait till the facts are out before we make our opinions. They didn't do investigative reporting like was done at OSU.
There was coverage that there was a situation with Newton, there was no rush to judgment or possibility of coverup opinions given.
There was no recanting from "Mike and Mike" for their "go to Ohio State and get a free car" song they played and thought was the funniest ever.
John - ESPN did very LITTLE investigative reporting. Publications such as SI, CBS Sports, Dispatch, and Yahoo were the predominant players in uncovering the "scandals" here at OSU. ESPN simply reported(very irresponsibly at times) what OTHERS dug up. Aside from the lawsuit against OSU, ESPN played a very small part in the OSU situation. Did they cover our issues more? Of course, but ppl tend to forget that our scandals(plural) came in pieces over the span of 6-8 months so it seemed like it was constant coverage. Combine that with that fact that OSU brings in ratings and its a recipe for news...good or bad. Was ESPN guilty of reporting before verifying facts, ie the DMV issue? Yes, but if you really want to hate someone, hate those that actually did the digging.
Just another pay for play in the $EC, nothing to see here, move along
"You're pissed because we went after a committed guy? Guess what, we got 9 guys who better go do it again," said Meyer. "Do it a little harder next time."
@BUCKEYE76BHOP: That is actually the very issue he just moved there in the past year from Georgia, so it is a bit sketchy. Did Auburn arrange (read: pay) for his family's new accomodations? Not clear at this point, but that is probably part of the investigation.
@ John - Who cares if they had an OTL? They had one for Miami and PSU...will likely have one for UNC if this academic fraud scandal gains traction. They have had an OTL for A LOT of other things as well. And "confirming through sources" does not mean they were the ones investigating..again that falls on others. You can hate ESPN for a lot of things, but they are not the ones that did the majority of the legwork in digging up dirt on OSU.
oh boy. I can only tell you how I feel about it. USC, Florida State, Oklahoma, Ohio State, Miami Fla- have all had multiple player suspensions/NCAA investigations since winning BCS NC. SEC schools Florida, LSU, Alabama and Auburn....not so much. there is a reason why, IMO.
NCAA - Ok Auburn, Uh, Are you doing anything illegal with recruiting such as paying players, arranging grades, providing families assistance or any other actions that would violate NCAA rules and regulations?
Auburn - Nah
NCAA- - OK, our investigation is done here. Have a nice day.
+1. No question about it on the SEC schools. That is the reason you don't even hear about certain violations (LSU last year for example) until the committee has already ruled. When the worldwide leader in SPIN is in bed with a conference, they're going to get preferential media coverage. That's just the way it is and it is dead wrong.
I just confirmed with my source that came to me and he sounds legit that Pryor got his car for free. We didn't check it out, we didn't backcheck, but he says he works for OSU. Later when someone else does REAL investigative journalism they will find out he paid fair market price for the car and his mother currently makes the payments on the car.
There is a difference between parroting ANY new that comes across your desk and actually INVESTIGATING it, fact checking, back checking sources, etc. Spending 10 minutes calling a few people isn't investigative reporting. I know how much we all hate the dirt put out there on OSU by the Yahoo reporter, but that dude does REAL investigative journalism. Sources are double and triple checked, there is a paper trail or even pictures to suppor the claim, etc. There is substance, enough to go to trial on and win. ESPN couldn't get an arrest warrant...
What Foster should have done is silently commit to Auburn, while never decommiting from Bama. Just wait until signing day and fax the LOI to Auburn. That would have been hilarious, and great payback to Saban for all the kids he's f'ed over on signing day.
I talked to a buddy I work with who is from Auburn. There could be something with this investigation because this kid cant keep his mouth shut and supposedly there is a new car sitting in the driveway that belongs to this kid. I think if the NCAA were to find out anything came about this it would open a pretty big can of worms but I doubt they find anything.
I know it sounds like sour grapes, but I'm getting so tired of this shit. How in the hell is Auburn able to avoid 2 blatantly clear recruiting violations (provided they get nothing from this), yet the NCAA is still allowed to even hand down punishments that are acknowledeged from any other school? This is getting ridiculous. The Cam Newton thing was pathetic, the Auburn player from the 90s going on HBO and saying he got a duffle bag full of cash from Auburn to play there went without much coverage, and now this. All of the sudden, Auburn reaches out to Georgia to offer a woman a job who just happens to be the mother of the #1 LB in the nation? Bullshit. Absolute bullshit, and if Emmert lets this go, I don't know how he can keep his job.
They haven't avoided this one yet... The Cam Newton one was a technicality they gave to Auburn and subsiquently changed the rule so that it couldn't happen again. This one JUST started, no one is free at all yet.
Yeah from what I hear and this is just word around down here in the south but she has a nice new house and the boy has a car. Probably something but im sure nothing comes about it.

where there's smoke, theres nothing in the SEC
