I just ran across this bit of info on twitter and then went to the source to read the article myself. Does anyone else know if this is just a cart load of bologna or if it actually has some merit? Man it would be sweet if it is true. But then again it would just be another shoddy excuse that #Walmartwolverines could use.

Considering the site, and the fact the the "source" is not named, I would say this is a load of BS...some two bit blogger trying to garner page views.
Plus, anyone with an experience with such things could tell you that maintaining a high for that long would be nearly impossible... you would have to be continually smoking through locker room prep, pre-game warm-ups, the game, etc. Particularly given that that kind of physical activity usually kills your high faster than if you are just sitting around.
That's not to say they didn't play like they were on something.
It's on the internet, it must be true! :)
Tomorrow
It's also been reported by unnamed sources on the internets that the Ohio State water and Gatorade supplies at the 2007 BCS NCG against Florida had been spiked by large quantities of quaaludes.
4DORR has it all summed up. Must be true and an excuse for the loss.
The usual source for Fisking all such stories -- MGoBlog -- is so incensed by this guy who calls himself "Ace Williams" (not a real name as far as I am aware), that they will not allow any posting on the subject. The guy has a track record of a few stray good scoops, and a whole bunch of awful screwups on false rumors.
I really don't know about this one. Just going off Ace Williams' general cred, I'd be tempted to call immediate b.s. But even lying rumormongers aren't always wrong. If he has a source, who is willing to be named and questioned, then that'll be amazingly interesting. If he has more than one source, it will be a big story. So far, he has nothing.
I'll add; a lot of larger media outlets would love to link to the story; and they'd love to do more. They'd love to have fun with this story in a slow news period for college football, especially in and around App State country. And yet nobody is touching this story. It's been posted on a few larger tv, newspaper and radio-type webpages, only to be taken down within hours because they, like, find out who "Ace Williams" is and what Chat Sports' deal is.
The whole story seems kind of a stretch. Of more interest to me was the following quote:
Is it possible that it wasn't just the Buckeye fans this guy managed to piss off in his four years with his antics?
Mike Hart might have been extremely obnoxious, but he was a ball player. Very tough runner, rarely if ever fumbled. He certainly showed up in the 2006 UM/OSU game, too. I'm not surprised that his teammates disliked him. More surprised that Jake Long and Henne failed to assert themselves, assuming that's true.
That is what I thought as well about the article. Did not know who the author was and why I did not want to make myself look like a douche and go blasting ttun on a bogus Article that this seems to be. I rarely comment on things like this do to the wonderful media not being very credible anymore. Cough Cough ESecPN & Internet Cough.
For the record M Man you have a lot of respect from this Buckeyes fan for your insight and how level headed you are when commenting in an enemy's camp. I would like to know more ttun fans like you. It would truly make our rivalry even more great and that much more fun.
O-H
Well he did mention that the source would be named when a book is released later this year, so we will know more at that point.
"Well he did mention that the source would be named when a book is released later this year, so we will know more at that point."
I've translated this as "buy my book and maybe it'll be in there with more detail. Or not."
That year when the Ohio State Patrol brought out the drug sniffing dogs to go over all the Wolverines bags when they arrived at Ohio Statdium doesn't seem so silly now in retrospect, does it? (hahaha)
I had some friend on that team and when I saw that story I texted them and they responded with: friend 1 - "I just made the team so I was being pretty serious, but I was partying Thursday night at Ricks there was alot of other guys out too. Heard rumors about this but generally dismissed them would say we were totally blowing that game off in the running back meeting we maybe watched one bit of film we were prepping for Notre Dame." Friend on 2 - "I was partying my dick off Thursday and Friday because I wasn't on the traveling roster so wasn't at the team hotel. I remember yelling at some kid outside pike that we were going to shit on App State. I have heard the pot smoking/partying rumors and they are probably true, but some guys still to this day smoke pot before games (****, *****). I know **** before ND in 09. Some ppl play better that way. I can say we didnt really take them seriously in the oline room and barely watched any App State film and went right to ND. **** **** and the other linemen didnt do any of that bullshit though, they always had their heads in the game."
Kept the names out but I can say there were a ton of elements of truth to the story, and that it was alot more true than someone would think....
Could there be a modicum of truth to this story that was then embellished upon? Perhaps. The article sounds a tad vindictive, many were thrown under the bus in this one. Bottom line, it is a lose/lose article for TSUN. Either there were a number of idiots on the team who had forgotten what it means to be a member of an elite and storied college football team (pained me to type the accolades, BTW), or, if the story is false, the team got ahead of itself, considered itself far superior to App State and got that superiority shoved down its throat. Neither instance is positive for TSUN. Ehh.
Was certainly a select few, neither of my friends thought it was a team wide issue or a program issues. Just a few bad seeds which inevitably happens in big programs gotta remember these are college kids after all.
It's the same way tOSU rumors started about the o-line being too hungover against UF in 06. Also had rumors that Troy slept with Gonzo's fiancee and the team was willing to play for him anymore and thats why we stunk.
Neither one of those are the reasons though, the better football team won, period.
Just like scUM and AppState, the better (1AA) football team won, period.
Yup Corveyer, I hear you. Was composing my reply and didn't see your post before I hit save. Dollars to donuts what your friends said happened is not at all unique to TSUN. It probably occurs with more teams than one would think/hope.
I was in the Corps and there were Marines smokinng. I smoked when I was in school and up to joining the Marine Corps. Corveyer, the reason for me to bring this story up was 1.) to find out if anybody else had heard about it. 2.) To find out if this clown called Ace is credible, cause you cannot truly trust a guy who roots for a skunk weasel and the ugly ace uniforms that they wear. 3.) To shut all the #WalmartWolverine fans up(if the story is credible, after reading your comments sounds like it is more truth than bs). I am tired of listening to trolls and wallyworld fans run their sucks about how our program/ Jim Tressel are so dirty and blah blah blah.
For instance the comments posted by the ttun fans under the article and how they attack App St and any other posters that do not agree with them.
I don't believe anything Ace Williams writes until I hear it elsewhere.
It doesn't seem too far-fetched, and it's possible, but that is no excuse. App State beat Michigan and they deserved it.
@Corveyer, not trying to discount your friend's account of those weeks, but they played Oregon the week after App St., not Notre Dame. Unless of course they were just that far ahead of themselves.
I'm sure that many big time programs don't give their week 1 opponents much film study or the time of day, let alone a FCS school. That may be an extreme example, but no one expects a typical week 1 opponent to be anything to worry about.
Those who stay will be CHAMPIONS!

Here is a video of all the scoring drives and important plays from the App State MEGA UPSET of scUM. I like to watch this from time to time because it fills me with joy.
True; and obvious, but apparently relevant.
And while the App State game was a frustration, with the Mountaineers playing a freakishly perfect game and us struggling in ways that make you shake your head, the next week was flat-out worse than Appalachian State. The ass-kicking Michigan took from Oregon is the single worst performance I have ever seen from a Michigan team. In my life. And I was there, in Ohio Stadium, in November 2008. If the defense had smoked pot before App State, I hope to hell they were on heroin for Oregon, because that might be the only excuse.
One thing that will require explanation, at least for me. My understanding is that Michigan football had long been on a random urine-testing program, dating back to at least 2007. It was a school policy, beyond anything required by the NCAA. How the guys avoided, or thought that they could avoid that, is going to require some explanation if this truly weird story has any merit, which remains very much in doubt.
Thanks pierogyjim that was awesome to watch again!
I think Shawn Crable might have smoked a doobie right before that final FG attempt. Haha. I forgot that Carr went for 2 twice and failed in epic fashion both times. Then again, App St did have a first an goal at the 5 with plently of time left. Fun to see what would have happened had they played out those few downs going for the end zone and not the FG.
All my Michigan fan friends said the rest of that year: "They would beat you guys too" (speaking of App. State)
Then I would say, "Dennis Dixon and Oregon brought a green and yellow sledgehammer with them to Michigan (they litterally did have a sledgehammer with them), and after the game, they hit the field of the Big House with it."
For a 3 year period, Michigan had no answer to dual threat QB's: Vince Young, Troy Smith, Armanti Edwards, Dennis Dixon and Drew Stanton. However they were able to top Tim Tebow.
Note that it was the California and Ohio guys that partied the hardest. Probably trying to forget that they play for Michigan. That will teach them to recruit in Ohio and California.
I don't know if I want to this story to be true or not.
Excuses aside...tTUN had NO reason to lose that game at home...just inexcusable and despicable. This was the best moment of my trip to Chi-town...well besides Wrigley and Mickey's OSU bar.
"There's nothing that cleanses your soul like getting the hell kicked out of you."
"I love football. I think it is most wonderful game in world and I despise to lose."

^^I can believe this part of it. F'n d-bag ol' 0-4 was. I figured Long and Henne would've been better leaders, though. #1 issue with 2007 TSUN - they could've been a very good team with some leadership and accountability.
Some of this story may be hyperbole, but I definitely don't doubt that TSUN completely overlooked App State, and did not take them one bit seriously. That's my thinking of this article - a story based in truth, with hyperbole added in for effect.
