More Penn State denial!!!

Eh, we have some shirts for buckeyes we probably aren't all terribly proud of. I think it's time that we (media and other fan bases) take it easy on ole' Happy Valley. They can be in denial all they want for the next 4 years, it isnt' going to change what happened or what their punishment is.

Yeah, not gonna happen. I still remember this t-shirt.

Pretty laughable now, huh?

NC, you can't judge a man by his one mistake. Joe Paterno is a legend and a great human. All he really did was look the other way when his most trusted LT raped kids in Penn State facilities. The man made on mistake, but he built so many men up from nothing! I mean, do you think Courtney Brown or LaVar Arrington or Curtis Enis would have EVER made it out of their respective rough lives had it not been for Joe? I mean none of those future top 5 picks would have been able to play ANYWHERE else but Penn State because Ol' Joe saw them for the diamonds in the rough that they are.

Sure Joe saw Jerry Sandusky (best guess-%58 or a little more than half of the days that passed) 3000 times from 1998 to 2012 (each time counting as a mistake in my book), but Joe did what he was supposed to do-he took it to his 'boss'. He'll always be a legend in my book. Who cares how much money he made off of his connections to Jerry's charity. Who cares about some kids...Joe helped SO many more...like LaVar! oh and Franco Harris! A future NFL player could ONLY succeed at PSU and thanks to Joe's tutelage, he became a great player and man!

Besides, its WAY too soon to make an opinion up. Not all of the facts have even come out. Grand Jury Testimony and a report by some FBI guy don't do it for me. He's the FORMER director of the FBI anyway-who cares what he has to say. Its just too soon to say anything about Joe-We'll never truly know the facts.

Thanks Joe. I hope it is very, VERY warm wherever you are right now.

As many have pointed out, if it was a kid in his family being violated, everything would have been very different. Other than that Joe was certainly a guy that looked out for the welfare of others....

I don't think Happy Valley is in denial.  They can have anger at Sandusky, the NCAA and Joe Pa while being proud of their student athletes (football team) at the same time.  I'm pretty sure thats exacltly how most probably feel (ie, many different emotions).

We had the same feeling(s) 12 months ago!  We still hate ESPN and the NCAA for it.

Bukfan - I think you're in denial about Penn State being in denial.

Yes they are. OSU fans were angry but we as fans accepted JT's faults and understood they were real, not imagined. Penn State fans are militant in their support for Joe.

It is good that the fans focus on the kids though-at least someone is focusing on kids in Happy Valley.

Bukfan,

I never once hated the NCAA - in fact I smirked on the inside a little bit when they actually let us play our top guys in the Sugar Bowl.  I don't know if we deserved a bowl ban or not, but it's certainly debatable enough that I don't hate the NCAA for it.

Your'e certainly right that they can be proud of their student athletes...and maybe they can be mad at the NCAA, but they're clearly more mad about the NCAA and the punishments than they are the crimes!  I mean, calling the NCAA "Communists?????"  How about a shirt that calls JoePa et al "Enablers?"

It would be one thing if all these PSU fans were tamely questioning the Freeh report's validity and the NCAA's ruling, but they are going WAY beyond tamely questioning.  If they truly think the NCAA is a bunch of Communists (and what that has to do with football, I don't know), then why don't they push for PSU to no longer belong to the NCAA?  They're a bunch of babies that care more about football than what happened there.

Sorry for the long rant - no hard feelings to you a fellow Bucks fan.  I just feel the PSU fans are nowhere near the realm of humble or decent in what they truly seem to care about.

It sounds like everyone on this board paints all PSU fans as supporters of child rape because they cheer for their team, expect due process from the NCAA (which all schools have ALWAYS gotten, including us), some idiot makes an ill-advised freakin tee shirt (we had a parade for JT AFTER the sanctions!!!) , and a fringe still love Joe Pa (despite his faults)....You can love someone even if they made a grave mistake.  Just b/c some still love Joe, doesn't make them all nutjob members of a cult who support child rape.  I can't make that much of a crazy leap.  Sorry.

Go ESPN chat board....everyone in the country thinks "O$U players are paid"...is that true?  No.

You are comparing apples and oranges bro. The Tressel stuff doesn't even compare with the Penn State stuff. No, I don't think Penn State fans support child rape, that's absurd. But you haven't been paying attention if you think only the "fringe" still love JoePa. The overwhelming majority of their fans think he did absolutely nothing wrong. Ever. They are in denial and they are delusional.

Fans will be fans.

I'm more disgusted with the BoT and former players that continue to appeal and challenge the NCAA rulings instead of using their own power or popularity to do something good.

Give me a flippin' break.  They would have been just fine at any other large DI program that recruited them.  All Joe did is take people with a ability to play football and let them play football.  He wasn't Mother Teresa dealing with friggin' lepers.

Ha, saw this on Deadspin and was about to create a new topic...glad I checked the forums just to make sure that somebody else didn't do it already.

We as Buckeye fans probably don't have much room to bash someone who bashes the NCAA.  But considering the level of denial still going on over there, and the victim mentality going around when we all know who the real victims are here...this is pretty silly of them.

Sure, some, including myself, have thought a bowl ban for us was a bit excessive, but at least our fans understand that wrongs were committed, including by Jim Tressel, and that we probably deserved what we got from the NCAA.

Penn State fans should be thankful that the "Communists" actually worked with their university president and backed down from giving them a 4 year death penalty.

Class of 2010.

@Milk Steak

I could be mistaken, but I think there was heavy sarcasm in most of that post.  I think the OP is on the same page as you...

If you already knew that, then please disregard.

I will admit I hate the NCAA.  Those a**holes dropped the bowl ban as a birthday present to me, then when I read more about the "No-show" job DeVier Posey had, it seemed like he was there and working according to his co-workers, and was required to be paid greater than the NCAA max wage of $15 due to the fact that the job was a closed shop union job.  Therefore, (and I'm not excusing the stuff with the other players' real No-Show jobs) Geronimo did not do the incorrect thing with that one, because he obeyed Ohio and Federal Labor law by adhering to the contract he had signed with his employees' union that represented Posey for the duration of his employment.  Any actual law should ALWAYS take precedence over NCAA bylaws, even if the 5th amendment doesn't apply to them.

Feds probe possible Jerry Sandusky child porn ring:

If this^^^^comes out that JS did this on PSU campus...Jim Delany will probably make an example of them and say goodbye and kick their ass out of the conference.  I'm not for sure about what implications/responsibility can be placed on PSU if these pics and what not were taken on campus but I'm sure it's not going to be good.
