Pay walled article on TOS has a header indicating 2014 top 5 DE and #1 player in MICHIGAN is a big Urban fan and even liked the buckeyes growing up. Gonna take a bit to pull him from up north, but it would certainly be funny to see the UM fans reactions. I can see it now...
Urban-"you take ohios number 2 player, we'll take your number one. Have a nice day."

that would be sweet if we can get him. what are the chances, on a scale of one to ten?
I'm not a VIP over at Bucknuts so I didn't read the article. But from reading the comments it's gonna be a Meyer Hoke battle all the way. This is the first I've heard of him being interested in OSU so I'm not really sure how interested he really is.
Sorry Urban, Woody is still my favorite
big urban fan and liked osu growing up?
Vernon Gholston ring a bell...just bc tTUN won some games last year doesn't mean he'll go to there bc he's from up north.

Can we wait and see how he does as a JUNIOR before we want him at our program?
Run_Fido's favorite word is strawman.
We will not get this kid. I honestly believe this is a ploy to make it look like more of a battle than it really is. There have been a lot of good kids come out of the state of Michigan (while note close to Ohio, still about 4-5 a year). In all those years, we have only got the one mentioned above. Those kids don't seem to leave Michigan too much.
TOSUman, Reid Fragel and Big Hank are also from TSUN.
McDOWELL is not coming here. He is almost a lock for scUM. Detroit kids are virtually all Michigan fans. With a few exceptions. He is not one.
@Bucksanity - How do you know this as fact?
on a scale of 1 - 10, I'd say "1," @stu...but that's 10%, which is higher than the chances of him going to OSU, IMO.
If OSU got MM or Damon Webb, Wolverine fans would riot. Lot more opportunity at Michigan if we're comparing current and future D lines.
Those who stay will be CHAMPIONS!

The state of Ohios #2, 3, 4, 5 HS recruit > state of Michigans #1 HS recruit .. in most cases..
Michigan HS football is poor, the competition level is not even comparable to the HS football played in the state of Ohio.
You'll see when Barrett comes Columbus having played against more talent by FAR in TX Hs football, compared to the lack of it in MI HS football in which Shane Morris has competed against. It's not EVEN in the same UNIVERSE.
You never see a great talent come out of HS in MI unless it's from Detroit Cass Tech or another Public school league in the city of Detroit. Obvious exceptions Gholston, Mike Martin, and Hankins. In Ohio, the wealth of quality, and very competitive football is widespread throughout the state.
Last point: Desmond howard, charles woodson, Bo, all from the State of Ohio.
I could care less about McDowwell... esp if it's to send a message to Hoke. Michigan is going to get players from Ohio .. that's just how it is when your state is blessed talented players year in and year out in HS football.
Malik is the #23 rated prospect in the country according to 247, I don't care where he's from if by some odd anomaly he wants to come to OSU we damn well better make room for him
Sorry Urban, Woody is still my favorite
@hail: 10% chance of osu landing malik. hhhmmm well ok. ty. well i need a nap now, going to go watch timmons scrimmage tonight. cant wait to see this kid.
Just my opinion, but you know how fluid the recruiting process is. He could be Treadwell part 2. I do know that he wanted to commit around the spring game and his dad told him he had to wait until his junior year...now I guess he want's to experience a bit more.
Those who stay will be CHAMPIONS!

Almost no chance with this one. The force is too strong
Didn't he show up to practice in Michigan St gear the other day??...
@CJZarecki I think I would take this kid over anyone in Ohio for the 2014 class considering he is on the verge of being a five star prospect.
@Tosuman Would agree, except that we're so deep at DL, I would pick Booker Jr. over McDowell if I had to take one or the other.
To all that chances stuff above...thought of this after I read it:-)
