Will be calling ESPN2 Noon games this Saturday. He will join Herbstreit & Spielman as former Buckeyes in the booth calling games on the ESPN/ABC networks. Congrats Joey!

Good for Joey I just hope he's better than spielman at calling games!

Eh? I always thought Spielman was one of ESPN's best analysts. I'd rather learn something about football from him than hear Matt Millen talk for 30 minutes about grit, determination and moxie.
The North remembers.
Just give me Nessler and Blackledge or Griese...Nessler and Herbstreit would be the best combo, though, in my opinion.

Spielman has come a looooong way as an announcer. Initially he was just a meathead in the booth that added little to the conversation unless it involved discussing a big hit or a guy "toughing out" an injury. The last couple of years he has spent more time breaking down schematics and has added a lot more. I am sure it helped that he was with Urban last year.
congrats to Joey.
I like Spielman in the booth too. He picks up on things that some other announcers don't. 2 years ago it was Spielman who noticed that whenever OSU was in the shotgun you could identify run vs. pass plays by watching where the fullback lined up.
I hate Griese! Started when he would call UM games and refer to his son as Brian. I understand its his son, but it just wasn't professional. I always wanted Brian to get injured (nothing serious) to see if Bob would start crying or just run out of the booth to check on his baby boy.

As a Lions fan, it gives me no greater pleaserure than to see Matt Millen in the booth every Saturday... away from any place he can ruin any more football teams.
The booth is a safe place where, even if you are an idiot, because no one checks your ideas or comments in real life, you can sound incredibly intellegent. Good palce for Joey to be, as long as he speaks clearly he can garner great respect.
I like Bob Davie. Does he still call games on ESPN? Like Speilman, he would point out little things that helped me learn about the game, and from his voice I could sense how pissed he was at a lack of effort, arrogance, or poor fundamentals displayed by a player. Makes me laugh.
Thank you STEENSN. If I were a more violent person, I would wish that the Packers organization hire him for something ;-) I know you shouldn't wish this on enemies, but just imagine.
