being a Cincinnati native I usually would know who is playing in it. All signs point to it not happening this year for some reason. I guess since we ran him out of Ohio he put an end to it!
I didn't see anything about that nor did I see many of the big Cincy schools matched up against national teams except Moeller plays 4 out of state schools this year and St X has 2. There are some pretty nice in-state matchups though in the Skyline Chilli Crosstown Showdown. There are a lot of NKY schools and a few smaller schools from Cincinnati on the list, but a Colerain plays Pickerington Central, Elder has Centerville, and St. X player Middletown. There will be some good matchups. I was hoping Conner would be part of it so maybe people could get a shot at seeing Barker play some at Nippert or on the Ohio side of the river, but now luck. Here's the schedule of events though.
yea it cancelled. ohio teams were getting beat around pretty good a couple yrs. herby ha these teams contracted yrs in advance with no idea what theyre team would look like i remember my alma matter(canton mckinley) played in it in 07, the yr prior they were no 1 in the st after the reg season and lost in the st semi but were one of the most talented teams in the st and they didnt play in it and the next yr they lost everybody and was a definite rebuilding yr but were already contracted with herby and got crushed by a team from oklahoma where the yr prior they wouldve represented much better guranteed
Ohio high school football is really down right now. Border states Ky In Mi and Pa all had good winning percentage last year. The All Star team was horrible.
Waycracken: How can you say OH football is down, especially against PA? As I recall, Ohio beat Pennsylvania again (4th in a row) this year in the Big 33.

It's too bad that Ohioans ran Herbstreit off. I read online that he was getting harassed at the grocery store for picking against OSU or criticizing them when they played bad. He is the most objective and honest analyst in college sports. He now lives down here in Nashville. Seems like Buckeye fans would've understood he had to be objective and call it like he sees it.
B_I_S: We have the largest fan base in the nation, which means we will have more than our fair share of lunatic fans. Unfortunately for Herbie, he lived right around a lot of those crazies. Hopefully, he'll move back to C-Bus one day; until then, I hope he can live worry-free in Nashville.

Go take a look @ JJHuddle.com for Ohio High School football. They have a preview of the top 10-15 teams in each division. Also have some message boards/forums that have some good info about area teams, schedules etc.
...and yes, please do not ever say that Ohio HS football is not on par with Michigan football. You have a few good teams here like Farmington Hills Harrison, Brother Rice, Warren De La Salle and Detroit Cass Tech but the fall off after that is fast and steep! LOL Of those maybe only one gets a national rating (Usually Farmington)
Irregardless of the final score. I watched the Ohio Pa all star game and Pa was winning 21-7 until 4th qtr put in there subs and ended up losing. Ohio looked slow in that all star game. Kentucky high school football normally doesnt come close to Ohio high school yet last year had an 11-10 record vs Ohio. Same year Kentucky vs Tenn record was 5-16 and Indiana 5-14. Opponents were mixed betwwen high profile and typical schools. FYI in 2010 Kentucky high schools were 7-17 vs Ohio, 2009 5-18.
Waycracken, have you considered the strengths of each of the teams playing interstate games? Have you considered that the same Kentucky team may not be playing both an Ohio and Tennessee team? You're stretching out quite a bit here to make your point.
As for the Big 33 game, there really aren't "backups," they're all all-stars. The bottom line was Ohio decided to get their sh!t together and Pennsylvania collapsed.
btw, "irregardless" is not a word. I normally don't point out grammatical errors, but that one is bad.

703 I gave you some data you choose to DISREGARD that data. I saw two games last year involving Ohio teams and in both cases I thought "How in the world is this team ranked so high (Moeller and Trotwood). Im just giving my opinion that Ohio HS football was down last year. My other point was that the Ohio All Star team looked slow.
"How is Trotwood ranked so high"? Um...State champs? Running back broke longstanding state record in champ game. Sent many players from that squad to D1 and still come in this year with a few players on the top 150 recruit list ... a few coveted by Mr Meyer himself ... doesn't sound like a weak squad to me. Bosco Prep? No, but I would not have called them weak. But I just may be a little biased lol...
A coworker last year was on a site, i think through USAToday or max preps that allowed you to "pit" different high schools from around the country against each other. I mean it's not a real on the field game BUT it did do a great job of comparing the schools trying to use info garnered from the strength of the teams they had played. Great for killing a few hours and starting a few office arguments LOL. Wish I could remember what the site was ... usatoday/maxpreps?...
Waycracken: I'm only disregarding your data because it is unspecific and poorly correlated. Like I said, how are you going to compare OH vs. KY and then KY vs. TN and surmise that Ohio is weaker than both? I highly doubt the same KY teams played both OH and TN teams. Heck, I could match-up the best teams in Wyoming and put them against the worst in Ohio; would that mean Wyoming is better than Ohio in football? I think not. The only way to truly judge interstate games amongst more than two states is to have each team play every other team involved. Otherwise your data is incomplete and your conclusion inferred.
I don't know how the heck you rate football teams, but Moeller and Trotwood are both very good teams.

If you use the examples of Trinity against Moeller and other Ohio Schools(st X gave them the best game they had all year) then yeah you may thing that. Trinity accounted for 3 of those 11 wins that Kentucky Schools had. Highlands, probably the 2nd best team in KY last year barely beat a bad Elder Squad.
I also look at Ryle, who was a pretty good team in NKY last year and in 6A and see how they got blasted by Colerain 37-0 and Warren Ball's St Francis DeSales came to NKY and blasted Ryle 42-7.
Those are just a few matchups, but considering the 2 best teams in KY, and 1 of them being the number 1 team in the nation accounted for 4 of those wins, I don't think it's neccessarily fair to say Ohio Football was down in comparison. I don't know who the other teams were matching up, but in general when NKY teams, even the best the Highlands, Cov Cath, or Boone have to offer, go to Cincinnati to play, they get their asses beat down pretty bad.
I can't find any information about 2012 games.

Too bad about the Herbie classic. Always good for Ohio kids to match up against guys from out of state in a real game situation.
I will say you guys are the bees knees, thanks for the skyline info
*Moeller? shivers...remember getting a spanking from them and Boone County my Sr year. Still trying to walk that one off LOL*

Yeah that was a horrible comment about Ohio football being down. Moeller, St. Eds, St. X, St. Ignatious are always in the top 25 on the country.
