Just watched Desmond give his always slanted view of any game his school plays in. He was citing the inexperience of the Bama defense along with touting Roy Roundtree and Devin Gardner at receiver as if his team had the advantage. Good point about the defense but to bring up Roundtree who is just coming off of a knee scope and Gardner who is no doubt a terrific athlete but is a QB by trade with basically zero game experience at WR as an answer for the defending national champion defense loaded with talent? He was asked how he thought the Buckeyes would do in Columbus with Urban as coach. He proceeded to say that Meyer did win two NCs BUT he left Florida "because it was too stressful for him, it caused him physical problems" (exact quote) then went on to say "he has put himself into a pressure cooker, they love their football in Columbus and I don't think it will be ANY EASIER ON HIM IN COLUMBUS THAN IT WAS IN GAINESVILLE". In other words he left Florida because it was too tough there so he came to Columbus for an easier gig. Urban is really stupid isn't he? Wow. Then he ended his expert analysis with "the expectations are always high, despite the fact they are under sanctions and cannot participate in a bowl game" just for the extra rub all the while never answering the question as to his thoughts of them doing good, bad, or otherwise. Really? Have watched him do the same before when asked about OSU. He refuses to give them any props. Be a professional and if that's not possible, have the balls to say they will suck if it makes you feel better but don't skate around the question. Always thought the guy did everything he could to play up his allegiance but he needs to disguise it at least a little. Herbstreit sometimes tries too hard to be unbiased toward his alma mater but he is at least good at what he does and speaks well. The alternative is marble mouth Desmond. There has to be someone better to replace this guy with. Hell, put Andre Ware in there, at least he can speak well. Anyone else, please.

I still remember during College Gameday in Columbus before The Game in '06, ESPN trolled OSU hard: Ohio natives Desmond Howard and Nick Lachey stood atop the 'Shoe and sang "Hail to the Victors" to a resounding chorus of boos.
Still don't understand why they did it, just seems silly to me.
In ESPN's eyes, he's doing his job by making people write 500 word essays about him like this one. ESPN isn't a credible journalistic entity, and I don't think anyone expects that of them anymore. They tune in for the game content, and to love/hate the characters that the analysts present themselves as.
It's funny that people rip on Desmond for being biased towards his alma matter, and then rip on Herbie for not being biased towards his own.
we dont have much wiggle room here. Joey Galloway is pretty one sided when it comes to talking about us...
Is it just me or does Desmond have 108 teeth in his mouth?
Desmond is front and center. Along with appearances on college gameday. Galloway is no where close to being as exposed. This is more about being professional than anything. Although it was expected for this to be turned into something it wasn't. I think Herbie does a great job of being objective. To the point of getting hammered for it. Maybe that is Howards way of remaining a hero to his school and fanbase while Herbie took the professional route which is much harder to do. So Des is taking the easy way out....Maybe Urban should talk to him and get a plan for himself.
I'll agree that Desmond is slanted in his analysis. That being said, I enjoy listening to him. He seems like a smart guy and speaks well. I think I would have a slanted view as do many analysts from their school. Herbie is an anomoly to me for being so neutral. Why do you think he gets so much hate from Buckeye fans? You get criticism whether you are too neutral (from your school's fans) or too slanted (from other fans).
at least Desmond acknowledges OSU. Kirk Herbstreit acts like OSU doesn't even exist! They ask him who will win between OSU and anybody and he looks like a deer in the head lights!
Mark May! Mark May thinks OSU is the worst program in the nation! The way he talks about them, you would think he was talking about the correctional facility league champions who just learned how to play yesterday! I could have sworn Mark May actually said, "Ohio State is my favorite pee wee league team!" Then he procedes to place his mouth on Lou Holtz left nipple and procede to suckle!
There are many worst than Desmond Howard being a homer!
Desmond, despite his collegiate background, is nowhere near the bottom when it comes to espn analysts.
Desmond is horrible. It's amazing that him and Mark May still have jobs.
Class of 2010.
Herbstreit is a great analyst - sometimes I think we need to remember that he's working for a national network and not an Ohio State fan site. He still brings his kids up on the set in Buckeye jerseys when Gameday is in C'bus, and during the Natl Championship game in '03, I remember him and Eddie George going nuts on the sidelines when he wasn't on air.
As for Desmond, I think he's annoying, but not awful. When it doesn't pertain to OSU/Mich he has some good thoughts to say. But the video currently up on the espn gateway with him and Pollack talking about how Michigan is so morally superior for suspending Toussaint is a bit much. Dez goes out of his way to bring Tat-gate into his comments for comparison. Let's not forget that this is a DUI we're talking about, and that Tressel suspended Bellisari back in 2001 for the same offense when he had his "guarantee" to back up.
David Pollack and Mark May are the worst.
"You win with people "
I kind of like him as an analyst. Call me crazy, but I have heard him give OSU props plenty. I think he truly loves the rivalry & respects OSU due to that. Yeah - he played for tsun & did that awful pose years ago, but I like him on TV. I also appreciate that he is something of a homer & it shows. I like it when a guy is not scared to rep his school which I think he does without going overboard with it..
Edit: Mark May on the other hand, should not have a job...
Edit edit: yeah I just watched that video of Desmond comparing tat-gate to this situation, which is horseshit IMO. This guy endangered lives & broke a law. There is no comparing the 2 so that was kind of a dick move right there...

I don't mind Desmond either. Honestly, his comments about Urban are a concern that I have too. I mean, the pressure will be greater at Ohio State, and while everything is great and perfect right now, Urban hasn't coached a game yet. Things were great at Florida, until he lost that game to Bama in the SEC title game. That'll be the true test. How will he handle losing a game like that in 2013, 2014, or 2015. Let's face it, that was the first time he had a team primed to win a title and it didn't work out. I think a tough loss like that one will be when we really really need to pay attention to how Urban reacts and guage whether or not he really has found balance in his life.
Absolutely respect your opinions on the matter. Just the way he (Howard) puts things sometimes is blatantly homeristic. And when he made the statements this morning it was for a purpose, if you can at all read people. I can go on ESPN, as bad as I would be, and do that garbage. Always thought it was a professional gig. With all the ex-jocks employed there, it would be a complete circus if they all chose to "report" in that manner. I would have to guess it would rub Urban the wrong way if he were to hear it himself. He put in a way to say Urban ran away from the SEC, it was too difficult, and what he doesn't know is OSU can be difficult too and by the way OSU is in trouble, don't forget. Really juvenile in my eyes.
Desmond Howard=Worst Announcer Ever
Hadn't seen this til now. Prime example of what I am talking about. Scumbag. This was straight from regular free page.
Skip forward to about the 2:00 minute mark. What does tattoo gate have to do with a DUI and a possible felony from his guys?

News flash, Desmond Howard went to Michigan. ESPN employs people with a history in sports with alleigances that will never go away. Honestly who cares what Desmond Howard says, I do not.
I believe you have misspelled Anal Cyst!
GO BUCKS! BEAT MICHAGAIN!
@LouGroza
I honestly believe it is a bs punishment in the first place. The only reason he jokepotamus did it was for an excuse for the loss. The two situations Des compares are like comparing redheads girls and blondes hotties. No offense to redheads just do not have any interest in them. It was a DUI for pete sakes, not selling some of your own hard earned memorabilia for some tattoos. If it was Urban Meyer the kid would have more than likely been suspended for at least 5 games if not kicked off of the team. So to hear these two morons spew their garbage is why I quit watching ESlanderPN anything college football other than the games themselves. Then I mute the televison and listen to the game on the radio. Let them spew their hatred all of this season since they will not have anything to say about us after November 24th. When we stick Fichigan's dick in the dirt again and put them in their place! Muck all of ESecPN in my honest opinion.

What does Desmond Howard contribute to GameDay? Fowler, Corso, and Herbie have always done well enough on that show. Desmond could get fired tomorrow, and honestly, who would miss him? He is clearly the least knowledgable of the analysts. He's the guy in the group that nobody really likes, but tolerates when he's there. He needs to get off the Mich teet a bit - yeah, it's nice that Hoke suspended Touissant, but it's not like Hoke is the only coach that would ever suspend a player for a DUI. See...erm...the coach you just took a shot at - Jim Tressel - how ironic is that? But I don't even care about that. Take away the bad analogy with Tatgate, and the whole singing of the TSUN fight song in the 'Shoe - he's just an annoying, fourth wheel announcer on a show that could easily survive with three analysts. Add the anti-OSU stupidity - the guy not only is a bad analyst, he's a douchebag. If he disappeared forever from TV, I'd be glad.
