Demetrius Stanley is so aweful

Not to beat a dumb horse but I cannot believe I still have to listen to this guy. I like hearing about the Buckeyes on the radio and there aren't other options during my drives so I don't know what to do. It's not just that I don't agree with most of his opinions, it's that he gets so many of the fact/non-opinion things wrong day in and day out. Can someone please get us someone else in there to take his place?

I don't live in the Columbus area, but I thought D Stanley was no longer on the air @ 97.1. Is he back or what?

Is he filling in for someone or back as a co-host permenently?

I know there's a game saturday, and my ass will be there.

Beau Bishop is the new co-host with Anthony Rothman. Demetrius is just filling in today.

GOOD,goodgood.   I'm enjoying the back-and-forth between Beau and Rothman.   I'm not really a stanley hater (fine if any of you are to each his own) but it was time for a change.  Got kinda stale.

Beau Bishop makes that show when he's there. I don't know if did radio before or not but he's right on the money, imo. Rothman's serviceable when Bishop is there but nothing can save that show when D Stanley's on. I loved the dude as a player but on radio, he is a trainwreck. He wasn't exactly Dan Rather on Buckeye Football Fever or whatever the pregame TV show was called either.

He has been filling in for a few shows lately. I thought he was gone but I hope that they don't let him back in the door. His sports knowledge and opinions are crap and he is just not interesting.

Yeah he's pretty painful to listen to, no question about it.

I think Biddle from Bucknuts has been very good too. He's guest hosted a few of the 12-3pm shows lately and has an excellent knowledge of all sports, not just CFB/Ohio State.

So what happend with Stanley exactly, I thought he got canned but then why would he fill in for people? Did he go to another station? Also I like Bishop and Rothman when they are on together it is a great show.

I may not agree with many of D Stanley's opinions, but I like the guy. I'm sure most of you would do so much better on the radio, of course...

He has a lot of OSU insight and I like that about him. Circle K has it too. Give Demitrious a break!

actually got 97.1 reception while driving from Findlay to Upper Sandusky, then back to Findlay today.  Heard the show with D. Stanley and he wasn't very smooth or insightful. It was the first time I had heard the radio show with D on it.

If you were talking with Stanley over a backyard fence about sports, after 5 minutes you'd want to change the subject.

Toss-up...Cowherd or D-Stanley?  They could throw him on with someone from 10-12 and if you don't like that then switch over to 1460 for Cowherd hahaha that would be horrible.

I guess he took a long vacation?? Who knows.  Bishop is a nice change for 97.1.  I like him with just about whoever he guest hosts with.

Remember how good the big show was about 5 - 6 years ago with Herbie & Hooley. That was the best show The Fan ever had. I would rather listen to the morning drive with Skip Mosic than listen to the logic of Dimitrious Stanley. I'm not sure who at 97.1 thinks he is good for radio.

I've been a loyal listener of 1460/97.1 The Fan since 2002.

Herbie and Hooley was probably the best straight sports talk show on 1460.

Hooley was very good until his one man attack on "The Vest".

Now, he's on some station up in Cleveland I believe?

Neft at night was okay but his voice got on my nerves at times.

Spielman on Sports has always been fun especially when Spiels gets fired up.

CommonMan and The Torg is pretty much always entertaining imho. I also enjoy hearing from

Circle K (Krenzal) on there from time to time.

I've only caught a few of Rothman and Bishop. However, I've liked what I have heard.

I'm a all-Cleveland fan so Bruce Drennan on Sports Time Ohio is what I watch pretty much everyday.  The only thing about Bruce is he only has the TV show (All Bets are Off) and he doesn't talk enough about the Buckeyes during the off season.  Luckily, I work for myself and I can have the TV on while I'm in the office.

@ 1BadBuckeye-

Does Mike Tribisanou (sp?) still pollute the airwaves in Cleveland?  I always thought Drennan was far superior to Tribisanou during their times on 1100WWE.  Until Drennan went to the Big House that is.

Torg and the Common Man are entertaining in the same way that getting food poisoning and the wet poops is entertaining.  Oh right, that's not entertaining at all.  Their "bitter white guy" schpeel makes Jim Bollman seem innovative.

My favorite on 97.1 was Ian Fitzsimmons.  He is down in Dallas now, and you can also catch him on ESPN National some evenings as a fill in.  He and Herbie were a great combo the year of the National Title.

97.1 should feel like turds about the way they ran Hooley out of town.  He wasn't the most entertaining host, but in retrospect, he was right about Tressel.  That's a tough pill to swallow, but the truth.

Hooley's refusal to play the part of the OSU loyalist was always going to get him into trouble eventually. Not that I think Columbus is any different from most markets in that regard, especially college-oriented markets.

I'm not in Columbus these days, but I find it hard to believe any current show can be worse than the Skip Mosic/Dom Tiberi/Eric Kaelin morning program of the mid-late '90s. Their relentless Cleveland-baiting was annoying, and of course Tiberi's entire career has been inexplicable.

The most "loud mouth, disrespect" poster on 11W.

Hooley didn't get fired because he refused to play of the part of the OSU loyalist. He got fired because he went way beyond being simply critical of Tressel and the football program. He thought Tressel was a terrible pick when he was hired by tOSU and it drove him nuts when JT proved him wrong. When JT went down Bruce could barely contain his joy. His comments after that went too far. Spiels criticized but never in a mean spirited way and he never gets personal or name calls.

Correct me if I'm wrong or if I'm "misremembering" this, but did Hooley not call for Tress's head/job in so many words on a daily basis during the height of tat-gate?  That had to have helped him out the door.

Pam you're right, what I can remember clearly is Hooley's enthusiasm and almost glee while ripping tress apart on air.

I know there's a game saturday, and my ass will be there.

Yes, I am pretty sure he wanted him gone as soon as the story broke. He compared tatgate to SMU and I think that was the comment that got him canned.
