2015 ath eric glover williams

i know its way too early to be talking about 2015 kids but i'm so excited to see this kid play his sophmore season. he plays for canton mckinley one of the best programs in the state and country a program that has produced alot of buckeyes (and scum) over the years (kenny peterson, mike doss, se'vn pittman, steve miller off the top of my head). this kid only played in 3 varsity games as a freshman and looked like one the best player on the feild each time. the first varsty game he played was vs massilon washington in the biggest high school rivalry in the country. he didn't start since it was sr night and mck had a very solid sr rb but when he got in he made an instant impact. his first carry was 65 yd juke you out of your shoes reggie bush style run for a td, canton had been a buzz about this kid the whole week leading into the game bec of his undeniable talent. he had 5 carries for about 90 yds in his first varsity football game vs a very good tough massilon team and i thought he was going to break one every time he touched it. this kid is lightning in a bottle and he reminds me so much of reggie bush running style where the defender just looks stupid. he played in the 2 playoff games finsihing his varsity season with 3 games played, 17 carries, 194 yds 11.8 yds a carry and 5 touchdowns as a freshman. he did have a huge fumble in their loss to whitmer on the goal line but he was only a freshman. he also made the usa today freshamn all american team well as first team all american on max preps for his class, both write ups acknowledged his limited exposure to varsity football but said you could see how good the kid was when he touched the bal an they saw enough in the massilon game alone to know he's one of the best players in the country in his classl. he has already attended a camp at ohio st and performed very well so urban and the staff are aware of this kid. i know his family and he WILL be a buckeye (if offered, i'd bet anything he's offred) by the time he is a senior and he will be mr ohio his sr yr for sure. and yes he fits the system perfectly. yes i am a mckinley homer but this kid is the truth!!!!!!

Kid is going to be a beast. I went up to see him play during the season, mainly played for JV. he got on the field a few times with the varsity returning punts, sadly his first one was a fumble. He has great speed and is only going to get better.

this kid was mentioned in GSW's quick bits the other day and this little blurb(by bill greene, scout.com and stark county native) was in the canton repository today. he made stark county's elite eleven(11 best preseason football players in stark county, only sophmore.)

eric glover-williams Mckinley qb-db

strengths-he's probally the best sophmore in ohio....he was at ohio state's camp in june and they had him working as slot receiver. he was AMAZING. no one could cover him. what he plays in high school wpn't be what he plays in college. in high school he is devastating. since they moved him to qb a few weeks ago, they're a totally different team. i've seen him pitch the ball and then get out in front of the rb and deliver a big block. they could put him at center and he's play it. He loves the game.

weaknesses-his size is not ideal. he's 5'8. we will see if he can hold up at qb n db through ten games. we don't know that yet but he is a very tough kid. he looks to hit people and usually the person delivering the hit don't typically get hurt. he isn't going to take alot of hits on o because he knows how to avoid them. he is a major college talent because he is ELECTRIC with the ball in his hands. there is a place for a guy like that with out much size in big time college ball bec of the spread offense.-bill greene, scout.com

15 is extremely far away but i'm gonna be watching this kid most weekends this yr and i'm really excited to see him and as i said in my op i know some one in his fam (1st cousin) and he's all buckeye if offered which i think is a formality barring major injury

Keep in mind, he's 5'8'' beginning his sophomore year. Guys tend to grow later than girls, I was 5'5'' as a freshman, and didn't finish growing until I was a junior.

I agree he will probably do some growing. You put a nice slot guy in a college weight lifting program and many of these kids turn into your very best RB's. Your better coaches can tell what they can do with a recruit after they have them in a system. Not uncommon for younger players fumbling the ball their trying to prove themselves and need to learn the lesson that possession is more important than the highlight reel.

Fumbling is something that can be fixed, but that athleticism is uncommon.

Hopefully Meyer will jump on this guy quick then. Go Bucks! Did we ever have anybody commit as a Sophmore? I think J O'Neal did.

Im not too sure a sophmore will receive or can receive an offer.  Should not be allowed in any case.

They can receive an offer, but it doesn't tend to happen usually, and won't with this staff

Lane Kiffin offered an 8th grade qb last year.  UW offered a Jr high qb this year.  So, yes, a soph can be offered.

yea i def don't expect an offer soon or during his soph yr but when 15 offers start going out i expect he'll be one of the first to receve one

Call him “Instant.”

Whatever a high school football fan could want — instant offense, instant momentum, instant excitement — Eric Glover-Williams will provide, right now.

The sophomore’s monster game led McKinley to a 34-28 win against Walsh Jesuit on Saturday night in front of 8,000 fans at Fawcett Stadium.

It was Glover-Williams’ debut as a starting quarterback. It was Todd Filtz’s debut as McKinley head coach. It was a winner for both when Glover-Williams’ twisting, turning 88-yard touchdown run early in the fourth quarter gave McKinley  the final advantage in a wild game of momentum swings and big plays.

“The seniors wanted this game,” said Glover-Williams, a  160-pound 15-year-old who accounted for close to 400 yards of offense and four touchdowns. “A lot of the seniors remember last year when we played Cardinal Mooney (in the season opener) and we lost that game after halftime. In the locker room, they were focused and ready to go.”

Speaking of instant, Walsh led 14-0 six minutes into the game after Doug Lewis took the opening kickoff back 93 yards and the Warriors marched 76 yards in nine plays for another score.

After scoring 27 unanswered points, McKinley saw a two-touchdown lead evaporate quickly in the second half.

If Filtz was looking for some grit and mental toughness, he got it as the Bulldogs used Glover-Williams’ feet and some timely stops to turn the game back their way.

“The win is great,” Filtz said. “But there were two different occasions when our team could have quit, bagged it up and called it a night.

“But we fought forward, and a bunch of guys were playing for Canton McKinley. That’s the main thing we’ve been preaching from Day 1.”

Glover-Williams rushed for 264 yards and three touchdowns on 28 carries. A running back who was switched to QB shortly before McKinley’s first scrimmage, he also completed 8 of 13 passes for 133 yards, a touchdown and one interception.

Just when it seemed the game was slipping away, Glover-Williams had other thoughts.

“Coach called a quarterback counter, and he called it at the right time,” Glover-Williams said. “The linemen did what they had to do and the hole was there, and I just ran through it.”

It is when he gets through the hole that the excitement starts. Glover-Williams made at least five guys miss as he ran the 88 yards for what proved to be the winning score.

The Bulldogs scored on three of four possessions through the middle portion of the first half. Glover-Williams threw a perfect 34-yard TD strike down the left sideline to Chris Prowell-White late in the first quarter.

Midway through the second, Walsh Jesuit 280-pound defensive lineman Alex Conley had Glover-Williams in his crosshairs for a big loss. A moment later, Glover-Williams was weaving his way through the middle of the field for a 33-yard TD run while Conley wondered what happened.

A spinning, shaking 38-yard run later in the quarter helped set up his 6-yard TD run, giving McKinley a 20-14 lead.

“Eric’s a great player,” said Filtz, “and he’s going to continue to get better

canton repository and fridaynight ohio.com anounce him (EGW) the MID season stark county player of the year OVER some big time D1 prosect who are seniors including, michigna commit dymonte thomas, glenoak qb reid worstell (offers from akron and other mac schools) and michigan decommit gareon conley.

the quick write up reads

-just a sophmore and switched to qb just a few weeks before the season began, glover-williams averages 275.5 yds of offense per game and has put together a careers worth of highlight jaw dropping runs in just half of a season.

he also garnered top first half perfomance with 313 yards rushing and 5 td performance vs lake. the write up reads

-after glover williams rolled up 264 yds in his qb debut tying (nfl hofer) MARION MOTLEY for the 9th best rushing performance in mkcinley history, it shou serve as no surprise that a month later he would deliver the 4th best rushing performance in mckinley history. whats next?

He can verbally say he wants to be a buckeye without getting an offer. I'm game, get him on the team! Gotta keep working hard though. Fulfill the potential!

Kid is the real deal. Seen him play a few times, but Im from T-County, right below Canton. Watching this kid was like watching a quicker, thinner version of Jalin Marshall.

I believe Meyer will offer this kid sooner rather than later. This kid will be a Buckeye IMO also. I also believe he will be the first 2015 Ohio kid offered & prolly one of the first 5 offers to go out for 2015.

Could you only imagine getting big playmakers like Marshall in '13, Lattimore in '14 & Glover-Williams in '15!?!? Wow that will bring some elite athletes to OSU & keeping them all in-state @ OSU is very important. Will take this offense to another dimension, Meyer just needs to real them in!!
