True college football fans that now have to come to grips that Bobby Bowden is the all time leader in wins. His stats are extremley sub par compared to most elte coachs at 377–129–4, 2 national chamipnships, with only 12 confrence tittles in 34 years. IMO he drug FSU down for the last several years of his career simply so he could get to the top of the wins board....

Joe Paterno was 409-136-3. Bowden could have gone 32-7 over 3 more seasons and had exactly the same record (i.e. 9-3, 10-2, and 10-2). That would have been three good seasons, but nothing close to a miracle. It's not like Bowden had a 50% winning percentage compared to Paterno's 75%.
I honestly have little respect for Bowden and Paterno, both. I'll just reference Eddie Robinson if people bring up the winningest coach.
Those who stay will be CHAMPIONS!

I saw a tweet from Dennis Dodd of CBS Sports who said that something like, yeah, Bowden now has the record, but the D-1A coach who has the record without an asterisk next to it, is Bear Bryant.
The conference title thing for Bowden is deceptive. Florida State was an independent for a long time, they didn't join the ACC till the early 90's.

His teams didn't finish outside of the top five between 1987 and 2000.
Thanks 703buckeye, I was just about to make that point. Free Shoes University didn't join a conference until 1992.
Eddie Robinson is the rightful owner of 'Winningest Coach in College Football History'
Bobby Bowden, though brash and somewhat obnoxious, produced some of the most dominating teams in college football history on a year by year basis. They joined the ACC in 1992 and won at leat a share of the conference each year until 2000. From 87-2000 they went 152-19-1. Won 2 National titles and 12 bowl wins. Produced to Heisman's for good measure. Bobby won his games in 44 years. Eddie Robinson in 55. If we are giving away titles like "Rightfull owner" I wonder why people are going straight to Eddie and leaving off John Gagliardi-who has a full 76 wins more than Robinson. Maybe because people haven't heard of him, don't like Bobby Bowden, HAVE heard of Eddie Robinson, and make their opinions heard. Bobby is tops for big boy football. Eddie won against lesser competition. Not only that, Bobby flat out dominated over a stretch of time no coach may ever see again.
4-6 seconds from point A to point B and when you get to point B, be pissed off
I can just hear Bobby Bowden at home right now with the thick southern accent talking the the Mrs all smug & gleaming over his newly found record: "Well I guess the tortoise won that race, huh?"
The world is full of kings & queens who'll blind your eyes & steal your dreams - it's heaven & hell - Ronnie James Dio.
Poison: Bowden was interviewed on ESPN, he doesn't sound happy at all. When asked about moving up to #2 on the D-I wins list, he said it doesn't matter right now. Remember, Bobby was friends with Paterno and probably truly doesn't care about the wins at the moment.

I imagine this is no way to gain a record & would not bring much satisfaction to anyone who got it this way. I was more or less just joking about the southern accent & his general demeanor. Little levity in the wake of all the craziness....

The real losere is Nick Saban. Bet he wishes he didn't take the Penn Stat job back in Jan. Penn State fans are pretty persuasive, though.
Bowden getting the record now is like, having the gold medal at the Olympics mailed to you 5 years after you earned it.

THE Ohio State University
Funny you should mention it. They have stripped a bunch of gold metalists for cheating very recently, and awarded the gold to the next person down. I guess they will be looking in the mail.
Speaking of real losers (more of the same):

I just figured that we all could use a good laugh (smh)
Personal favorite, student referencing Paterno:
"I still look at him as the same guy," Olson said. "I want to go into coaching because of him. He's a mentor and a person I look up to. There's no chance of that changing."
"Love my State, hate the football"
The REAL loser here are the teams that don't have the roster space for some of the defensive talent who are about to leave.
