How can he say all this stuff about not recruiting committed players when he got his biggest commit at Michigan State by flipping him? I like the coach, but isn't he being a taaaaddd bit self-serving at the moment?

When coach Mason left, he was still committed to Minnesota, somewhat, but I didn't know how strong,
Love that part...
Minnesota may be back to being a top 25 team a few years down the road, but it will have been at least a decade to 15 years after firing Glen Mason. I still can't believe they made that emotional, knee-jerk reaction to a blown lead against Texas Tech in a bowl game. I mean, it wasn't Mike McQueary's PSU offense -- it was Mike Leach's Texas Tech Red Raiders --- they'd put points on the board like a hoops squad...it's just what they'd do.
I don't know what the AD was thinking --- because, (esp. with OSU, Mich, Wiscy,) in the Big Ten -- I always felt Minnesota had a ceiling. Like 9, 10 wins was about the limit. Mason had a really good thing going there -- they were about as good as they were gonna get. Minnesota isn't exactly a hotbed of high school recruiting. The rest of the Midwest goes to OSU & Michigan as far as top-tier recruits go. So, I think Mason had them at their peek. He always had a solid running game predicated on strong Offensive Line play and very good RBs. Their Defense was decent, too.
Jerry Kill is a very good coach, but it won't be easy getting Minnesota back to the Glen Mason days anytime real soon.

I still hold a grudge against Minn for terry glenn's busted shoulder. so they can go ahead and keep being irrelevant.
I know there's a game saturday, and my ass will be there.
I remember that game, in '95. That OSU offense was rolling that year...so much fun to watch...Hoying, George, Dudley, Glenn & co.

I'll help you out with Dantonio... he's a douchebag. I know we like to give Hoke a hard time around here, but Dantonio is just as big a douche as Bielema.
Don't see the douche in Dantonio's bag. Am I missing something? Seems to do what it takes to be a winner. National titles as assistant at YSU, National title as DC at OSU. Turned Cincinnati around (which Brian Kelley took most of the credit for Mark's foundation) Has made MSU much tougher and consistent.
Dantonio was probably the best DC I can remember at Ohio State. I love Dantonio. Anybody that hates Michigan as much as him is alright in my book.
I agree Sam the eagle was a amazing def cord. His defenses were nasty and awesome, talking to a couple of his former players they still hold him in the highest regard. Man is just dry toast.
I will say that Coach Dantonio gives the best post-game interviews. They're always succinct, have a little life lesson in them, & most importantly, he decides when the interview is over by walking away.

@JOHNBLAIR: yes, Coach Dantonio's Defense the past few years is reminiscient of OSU's 2002 Defense. It does not have the same amount of NFL talent as OSU's did, but the statistics are similar

Predicition: MSU is next on Boise St's list ...
Count me in as a Dantonio fan. He is one of Ohio's sons, a true salt of the earth guy. He was the architect of that filthy '02 defense. He has taken a lackluster program in MSU and made it into consistent winner.
He was/is one of Tressel's most loyal friends. Plus, he hates Michigan. How quickly we eat our own around here.
How firm they friendship...
Not to mention the man has balls of steel as a playcaller.
@FLIPBUCKEYE --- amen...that fake punt call against Beetface Kelly & Notre was all-time ballsy

After he and Narduzzi were crying in February about Urban's aggressive recruiting I lost significant respect for Dantonio, but I'll always like that he hates Michigan as much as we do.

I think the complaining was actually coming more from Narduzzi than Dantonio. Dantonio has been straight by me although I am questioning his statements regarding Gholston and the eye gouge incident. Gholston was out cold and we can all see the eye gouge! Admit it and move on Dan! Other than that, I'm good!
When all is said and done, I like the fact that he hates UM, his defense while he was here was sick, and he's probably a decent enough guy. But that doesn't change the fact that he's an a**hole. And that's ok.
He played an injured player with a concussion...that says all I need to know. I don't want him back at OSU...ever. He won't come back anyway...it's a shame he's turned into a real dick. Wish him the best with his health but as a coach...I wish nothing but loses for him and MSU.

Dantonio - He's a p#ssy.
Good player's make the play's they're suppose to, great player's make the play's they're NOT !!!
What PROOF do we have that he played anyone with a concussion. We have nothing other than our own assumptions. After a player is injured, at any school, he cannot go back out onto the field unless the medical staff clears him to play. Coaches are not doctors and players get hurt all the time in football...you have to be able to trust what your medical team tells you. If you want to blame someone for letting an injured player on the field blame the MSU medical staff...it was their call to clear him.
