This is a few days old, but I haven't seen it anywhere on this site. I just watched an interview with Meyer on ESPN (Insider only), and when he was asked about how the team was looking he said he was still worried about the skill guys. No surprise there, but when he was talking about the injury to Jordan Hall, he mentions that Carlos Hyde and Rod Smith need to step up. I know Rod's been talked about a lot on here, but I definitely think that if he can get over his fumbleitis, he could be a darn good player.

done.
I thought Rod Smith looked really good and athletic last year before he started fumbling on the goal line and was yanked.
I hate when people assume that a coach is going to implement an identical scheme to their old job at a new school. Braxton will take exactly 0 of the "power running" responsibility. Meyer and coaches have said multiple times that with the tools this team has, it will utilize a power rush attack far more than any previous Meyer offense. Braxton will take spread type option runs. Someone else will step into Hall's role as the pivot type guy, most likely Fields or Brown. Hyde and Smith will most likely not see more than a small increase in total carries.
Remember that Brionte is ahead of Rod on the depth chart...he'll have to beat him out.
Actually, I don't think the official depth chart lists either one of them (Brionte or Rod), so where did you hear Brionte was ahead of Rod?
Just reports coming out of spring camp (who was running with what team), the open practice, and carries # in the spring game. Since Rod took reps behind Brionte, one could assume that Brionte had surpassed him. Which would make it Hall-Hyde-Dunn-Smith-Ball.
I just don't recall those reports. Also, Rod and Brionte were on different teams in the Spring Game. Rod played behind Hyde.
FWIW... In the ESPN interview Urban mentioned Hyde and Rod Smith filling in for Jordan Hall... no mention of Brionte.

done.
To your second point, "threat to run" is different than power running attack.
I am not a traditionalist who believes the power push has to come out the I, but designed for Miller will not be part of the power game in many cases.

11W staff, are you the ones ax'ing the comments with jerkness in them? If so, bravo. If not and the users are doing it themselves, double bravo.
When told OSU set school record for 50+ games this year, UFM said "That's good. We're gonna break that next year."
Yes, we edited some comments and deleted one each from Carolina Buckeye and Buck-I.8. It looks like Carolina Buckeye went ahead and changed the rest of his comments.
As I mentioned in an earlier thread, we are hearing over and over on our reader survey that commenting has become uncivilized. We'll be working to make sure that changes.
Hopefully you guys can clean this up on your own, but if not, we'll look into temporary and/or permanent bans if problem users emerge.
Very good, thanks Jason! I support the effort with enthusiasm

@Jason - Too bad it is even an issue. Your efforts will assure the site remains the best. Thanks!
Great Job Jason! Hate you guys have to babysit the message boards when that energy could/should be spent on more important topics.
Thank you Jason. Even the precedent of starting to remove some of them may help.
If I offended anyone on this board/post, I'm deeply sorry, and know that I mainly do not mean to do so. I understand I can instigate at times, but I don't see why I football disagreement should have to suddenly become a flame war. If everyone chimes in and people are too sensitive to have a rational discussion about the subject matter, I guess I will stop refuting any points that I don't personally agree with, but I really do mean to do so in only the most respectful fashion.
Mods, Thank you for using your discretion, it really does help us all to know how to handle these situations.
maybe an incoming freshman can help i personally was very excited to see armani reeves highlights on offense very quick and shifty, what does everyone think?
Buckeyes rule school up north drools!
HYPHER, I agree with you completely, and was surprised to see the staff seemingly commit him to defense so quickly.
Of course, I'm no expert, but his WR highlights were impressive, especially given our lack of depth and experience
I'm not sure how other feel about him but IMO Rod Smith has one year to get his act together on the field or he's done. If those fumbles in the Red Zone and in general don't get better then I could see a transfer from him. Because I can assure you, Fickel wasn't too harsh after yanking him after the Colorado game where he fumbled but got it back himself. Meyer will not let it happen more than once...you can guarantee that. I think Rod could be like Eddie George (like him...as I said...not really him). Heck I think Hyde could be like that...his run VS Nebraska last year reminded me of him. We'll see but Hall should be back before it matters against MSU or Nebraska. I just hope Hall is 100% if he comes back...

hypher and I.8 I would love to see Reeves on special teams.
It seems like it would make sense for Ball to RS. Is this going to be the plan?
