Raekwon McMillan Visit Update

I talked with Raekwon for awhile last night. He said then visit went very well and the coaches told him he was their top linebacker target in the 2014 class (not a shock). He also got to spend a good amount of time with Braxton Miller, Ryan Shazier, Curtis Grant, and Se'Von Pittman. I'll have a full story on McMillan later this week.

Would be a great start to the class.  Getting a guy like him to then go out and recruit other top players could land us a class like USC's this year for us next year. That would be an incredible boost in talent for OSU and Meyers future team.

So if he is the #1 LB target, I'm assuming Garrett and Booker are #2 and #3? Or #1B and #1C?

1. McMillan

2. Booker

3. Garrett

Also keep in mind McMillan is an ILB, while Garrett and Booker are OLB.

Miles,

Obviously it's way too early, but what are the chances that all 3 will be Buckeyes?  If not all 3, who do you think will not be a part of the 2014 class, and will Devonte James then come in to play?

I think Booker will be a Buckeye sooner rather than later. Probably 80-90% chance. Gotta like the Buck's chances with McMillan, as he seems very "pro-OSU". I'd say at least 50% chance with him, but Bama and UGA will be there until the end as well. As for Garrett, he seemed a bit turned off that he couldn't compete at FNL though the staff was just complying with NCAA regulations and took the time to say that MSU is still his leader. Right now...I'd put OSU at 40%.

These are all current estimates based on recent developments. However, it's still very early in the 2014 process and these situations are very fluid. The chances that all 3 don the S&G is probably low, for no other reason than it seems improbable to land 3 of the top 15 LB's in the country in any given recruiting season. If we land all 3, I'd be very pleasantly surprised. But...just have to be patient and let it play out.

If one of them decides to commit early in the process, I'd venture it'd be Booker because I've heard some people call him a virtual "lock" (I try not to think of anyone as a lock because more often than not, you end up disappointed). But McMillan will definitely get the full-court press from Urban and crew, so I wouldn't be all too shocked if he committed earlier than expected. Time will tell.  Keep in mind, I'm no expert though haha; I do try to keep up with all of this stuff though.

ChromeDome has it pretty much nailed it (though I think we still lead for Garret and that was just a bit of sour grapes).

If I had to out on percentages...Booker is at 95%, McMillian 50% (UGA and Bama at 25%), and Garret is at 55% (MSU at 40%, and I think Ill has a shot, but a slim one)

While the chances of landing three of the top 15 LBers is low, I thin we have a better than normal chance with these three.  I am loving the repitoire the '14 recruits are building with each other.  All it takes is one commit and I think we see a domino affect starting.  Like an avalanche the commitments will build on each other and will go after targets.  I personally think it starts with Booker and whoever the staff decides to offer first between Barker and Henderson and maybe Brown or Knox.  You build from there.

Cause I couldn't go for three

I cant imagine Garrett being that turned off because he had to sit in the stands. Once he sees how our LBs play this year, he will be more of a Buckeye-lean (whatever that means). The key is McMillan, if OSU can land him, expect Booker and Garrett to jump on board and call it at day at LB. I think Garrett would love to play along side both of those guys...long way to go but its nice to be up there with these stud LBs. Hopefully Meyer and Co and nab them.

^agree with the McMillan theory. If he comes aboard early, some of these guys will fall like dominoes.

It was a while ago, but I talked to Booker after spring game and he came across as pro-OSU.

He was at FNL.  He confirmed that to me, but didn't want to do any interviews, so I'll respect his wishes.  Booker said he just wants to focus on this season.

@Chromedomebuck ... He could've competed if he wanted to, but he chose not to. So because he wasn't competing he was unable to get down on the field. He "tweeted" something about having to pay $20 bucks to get on the field if you weren't competing, which I thought was funny because I saw pictures of Snodgrass on the field and he wasn't competing. Though the pictures may have been taken after the FNL was over. I think we have a fighting man's chance at landing them all because I think McMillian play MLB, and Garrett, and Booker play OLB. I know the idea of them all on the same team is being sold.
