PSU BS

I have no desire for OSU to obtain any PSU player due to the current situation just to set that straight. But my only hope is that every PSU player and future commit has someone other than a paid PSU administrator/coach/teacher etc. in their ear talking them into staying. Four years is a long time to live on the mantra "the hotter the heat, the stronger the steel" bs one of the BOT guys repeated from one of the current players. Understood for some current "student athletes" it will be in their best interest to stay. But for many, they will be stuck in a place that the mantras will quickly fade as the losses pile up. Who will protect Hackenberg if the starting tackle gets hurt? When Hackenburg gets blasted and put out of the game who will throw to Breneman? And the scenarios go on. Yes, they may be able to pseudo compete in a few games, but scholarship limits, injuries, attitudes and the like will quickly change the team into something no one knows. The talking heads at PSU want to talk these guys into something that for most is not in the PLAYERS best interest. Hope someone else is there to tell them otherwise. Am I right or wrong here?

They can choose to do whatever they like, but I suspect those who stay at PSU will regret it in the long run.

It seems that most of the kids who aren't there yet have their parents to discuss it with.  If one of these kids makes the decision to stay, they know full well what they are getting into.  For some it has been a life long dream to play there and it would be hard to give that up for any reason.

As far as the people currently there, I wouldn't be surprised if most of the upper classmen stay because that is where their friends and roots are.  The younger guys might be looking to jump ship though, we'll see.

Understood they have options. The thing they need is to be shown is the big picture of the potential disaster this could be in a year or two. PSU will present it with the "be a man and stay at PSU" approach. As opposed to the reality of it all. These are young guys that need to see all sides of this thing not just that PSU needs players and the rah rah of it is my point. Actually I think the NCAA should send in someone to go over these points in an arbitrary manner with these players.

Someone on here made an excellent point, if you are a top recruit, you want to play with other top talent to make yourself better, PSU wont have that, so that IMO is a massive hit

Lougroza, I agree. I understand the PSU football team members wanting to stay together, but the increased possibiity of injury cannot be discounted. I grew up in a MAC college town, and every year, a couple of starters on the team would be injured and out for significant time in a game against BIG or other similar national teams. That was one game. Can you imagine week after week getting hammered by overwhelming offenses and defenses, with injuries mounting? Especially if you have pro aspirations? No thank you.

Be a shame for them to get talked into staying and a year later feel like they made the most terrible decision of their life. Can they leave at any time during the 4 year bowl ban?

Think I saw now or after next season, those were the two options to bail.

Edit:By next season i mean after this coming season (the 2012-13 one) not NEXT season...you know what i meant

When told OSU set school record for 50+ games this year, UFM said "That's good. We're gonna break that next year."
