I got a chance to watch most of the 7 on 7 at the Nike Camp this past weekend. I think Eli Woodard and Zeke Elliott are gonna be studs! Woodard was probably one of the better if not the best DB I saw @ 7v7. His ball covering skills really shined and this was against elite talent. I was really impressed with him and think we have a real player comming in next year. Zeke was probaly the 2nd best All-purpose type RB I saw at the 7v7 and he his quickness was very obvious. He has great hands and look to me to be the most elusive guy on the feild at times. Can't wait to get him in C-bus A.S.A.P !!!!!!! Hate to say this but unfortunatly I also noticed that Derrick Green will not fit our offense. He has no hands and is simply a north and south kinda guy. As much as I love the kid I am sticking by the idea of passing on him. IMO

Perspective* But yeah, I agree with all those things, still thing Green would be a good fit though.
Green could be useful in this class but we would be wise to use our schollies elsewhere IMO.. But wouldn't be upset with his addition either

^Agree completely
@BUCK-I.8 *think
I feel confident in our backfield currently and Elliott that I am not sure adding Green or Mizzell makes a lot of sense at this point. Like @BENGALERNST said, I think we can add depth at other positions with our limited schollies. But also wouldn't be the least bit disappointed if he joined the class.
My question I pose...I know the staff has gone cold on Dymonte and vice versa but if Green commits to TTUN does that change things for Thomas? Much like Green appears to be a better fit for TTUN, it seems like Thomas would be a better fit for Urban's offense.
If Dunn has a great start to his freshman year and Green commits to TTUN, I feel like that may at least open up the lines of communication between Thomas and the coaching staff
Isn't Dymonte Thomas going to be playing defense for UM? He's a safety.
Ah that is true so forget that Green v. Thomas angle....
I for one am in the camp that doesn't think we NEED playmakers necessarily.
With Marshall and Elliott on board and I think Hall (will be) fine this year when healthy and I expect big things from Philly Brown as well as my darkhorse for the receiving corps...Verlon Reed.
However, Urban says we need playmakers, so...we need playmakers ha!
That's why I posed the Thomas question, for some reason, I just don't believe his recruitment is over yet but Green certainly has no affect on his standing with TTUN
Anything could happen, but I seriously doubt anything changes with Thomas. He is about as entrenched in this UM class as Shane Morris.
We're talking about needing playmakers in the 2013 class, so Hall will be gone and Philly will be a Senior. Zeke should fill Hall's role nicely. Coach Meyer obviously wants players who stand out on the field, so we'll see what Verlon can do this Summer and Fall. He's listed as a backup to Evan Spencer for now. Regardless, I do believe we could use a couple more kids who can make things happen on the field.
Till Brionte runs for 1,100 yds and wins B1G freshman of the year =)
I think we'll be just fine at playmakers after landing 2 or 3 or Foster, Quick and Whitfiled.
Here Carolina...if you don't believe 11 W or Michigan fans, maybe this will help:

So, with regards to Green, did you mean Deveon Smith and not Thomas?
Those who stay will be CHAMPIONS!

@Hail...
haha, I've got the BH from BNuts. Don't worry, I am not sitting here thinking we're going to flip Dymonte and there is this undercurrent that nobody else knows about.
I know things between him and TTUN are on really really (read: damn near permanent) solid footing. I messed up on the Green comparo. I could be wrong, but I believe that in the brief time Meyer was recruiting Dymonte before he affirmed his commitment to TTUN, Urban was recruiting him as an offensive player and that was my assumption for TTUN, sorry I don't truthfully follow your recruiting once a player commits.
It was just a mid summer dead period what if scenario simply to pass the time.
I'm happy with Zeke as the only pure RB in this class. You can also use Marshall there. Only reason to take more would be somebody(s) leaving early. If we do take another I'd prefer Smoke or Williams.
Woodard getting all team honors is impressive and says a lot.
Cam Burrows also received All-Tournament Team honors.
Seems like all 6 of the buckeye commits did really well.
I asked about Baugh in another post, about his performance but my question now is, does he have an official visit scheduled?
Correct me if I am wrong, he stilll hasn't had the chance to visit campus has he? If true, that kind of scares me.
OOPS, I typed Woodard but meant Burrows. My mistake!
You're right, Baugh still has not visited. I'm not too concerned though, he seems to be all Buckeye.
i watched Dymonte in person quite a few times the last 2 years and i really cant understand why hes playing D in college. Explosive and shifty in a offense were the D knew who was getting the ball. Didnt seem to be much of a playmaker on D.....
I really hope we get Smoke Mizzell, too. The staff is looking at him as a receiver. Brionte, Zeke and Warren Ball, with Smoke Mizzell and Jalin Marshall occasionally in the backfield would be hard to stop. Throw in Robert Foster and we have an elite offense, easily.
I wouldn't cheer for Michigan if they were playing the Taliban.
I watched him in one game last year and felt he was more explosive on offense as well and really didn't do much on D. Their bigger back was more impressive to me though and wonder why he doesn't have a smaller D1 scholly.
im with tenn on this..baugh seems to be locked in..now that ive said that hell flip to usc tomorrow..youre all welcome
Well i like college and i like football...and im gunna keep doin em both cause they make me feel good!!!
@steensn, you talking about alden hill? he went to Tennessee.
I thought it was said that Baugh has some family here in the Columbus area and that he had been to campus before with his cousin? Anyone?? That may be the reason he's able to be so sure of his commitment without necessarily needing to revisit everything right now.
I think Woodard comes in and starts in 2014. I have a feeling the coaches will like him better then Murray and Reeves in a couple of years. I think he's another Malcolm Jenkins type. Similar size, not a burner but quick and explosive, physical as hell, from new jersey etc.
Run_Fido's favorite word is strawman.
I thought I had heard somewhere that baugh is planning on visiting in august. And the way him, zeke, burrows, thmpson and sometimes jt barrett go back and forth on twitter it would seems this class is pretty tight knit considering how spread out they are geographically. Really don't see any of these guys even mentioned in conjunction with any new offers or any kind of interest in any place other than columbus.
Pbucksfan, No, Thomas.
@BuckeyesMJ, you are correct about Baugh. He has been on campus, but it's been years. He does have family here, and he is planning to visit in August (as Luckynutz said). I'm excited that Marcus is part of this great class.
I think that The Opening really helped sure up Baugh's commitment (although it was already solid IMO)
@BUCKEYEFORLIFE20 - From what I've been reading, Baugh has been all Buckeye from the day he recieved his offer. I recall a story on the worldwide leader about his commitment: I mean, let's face it, it is something of an oddity to commit to a school on the other side of the country without so much as an official visit. I do recall him saying that he wasn't going to take any other visits, either. Gotta say, I appreciate the kid's dedication.
Yeah I think I read the same article and he said somethinng like when he was 12 after visiting with his family his dream was to play football at Ohio State. And that is what has motivated him over the years to finally earn that chance. Up until I read that, I was skeptical of his commit, but no more. Based on his comments I think he's as solid as granite.
Who was the no.1 all purpose back at the Open????
ESPN $ article: http://insider.espn.go.com/college-sports/recruiting/football/story/_/id/8142773/who-caught-our-scouts-attention-opening
Sounds like Ryan Green was the standout, but the article also mentioned Smoke Mizzell, Ty Isaac, and Kelvin Taylor. To be honest, I'm a little surprised they didn't mention Zeke as I thought he really proved himself (to the "experts") over the weekend.
thats fine let that chip on his shoulder get bigger
mark may wins douchebag of the year... again
As to Baugh, I think I also read that he has cousins in Columbus, a couple of them either currently attend/attended OSU, love it, and are super excited for him.
@Sir Rick, I agree. Regardless of what the "experts" might say, I'm very happy Zeke is a Buckeye.
Whatever school Mike Mitchell ends up at, do you guys feel like he might be a better fit on offense?
No, I think Mike Mitchell is exactly the type of LB Coach Meyer wants.
As far as All-purpose Back I thought Ryan Green was the standout but I really thought Zeke was in the short list right behind him. He definatly has proved that he belongs with the top 5 at that position. Mitchell didn't do much to wow me except for his workout stats which honestly only mean so much IMO. I'd like to see him in action but the kid is definatly the best athlete in his group.
If Mitchell commits then I definitely think he'll be a Mike LB for sure. 4.39 is down right flying for a LB. Should be similar to David Perkins who ran a sub 4.40 40. As far as another rb in 2013 class, nope. Simple equation: all other positions especially WRs
"There's nothing that cleanses your soul like getting the hell kicked out of you."
"I love football. I think it is most wonderful game in world and I despise to lose."
Woody Hayes 1913 - 1987
If Mitchell commits, I think you hold a scholly for Bell and fill the other schollies with WR's. We need to give Miller some targets to throw to.
I think we're looking at Mitchell, Lewis, and potentially Bell as future defensive commits. Assuming the class hits 20 that leaves room for 3, in which I could see any of 3 WR, 2 WR and 1 OL, 1 WR 1 OL and 1 RB/ATH, or 2 WR and an RB/ATH
Sorry Urban, Woody is still my favorite
