I kinda like the Illinois helmet --- their current helmet is so outdated.

For OSU, I've always wanted to see a special alternative uniform for night games --- maybe all black, or grey. Not a lot of teams have grey as one of their primary colors --- they should incorporate some grey unis, like the basketball team finally did again. The basketball grey unis look cool.

Eh, not my favorite. I appreciate it when we honor past teams. I like that  tradition and have no problem seeing that continue. Get some big buckeye leafs on them again...

yup, I'm a traditionalist. That's what makes The Ohio State University great -- we suit up and get it done on the field and not worry about how it looks. We respect and honor our past. All these other schools with their pretty little uniforms -- they are like a bunch of school girls getting excited about their prom.

This is football, man. Stop with the tweeting and checking yourself out in the mirror, and just hit hard, run hard, stay out of trouble, and win football games. I can't believe it's come to this. It just reminds me that I really am getting old :(

That helmet makes me want to throw up on myself.

I'm glad they're experimenting with liquid metal, but I don't like the diamond plate or the black stripes. I'm holding out hope that Nike desides to give us our own simple version of the Oregon Rose Bowl helmets. Liquid metal, our standard center stripe. That would be so clean.

I'm a traditionalist....I don't like it.  It kinda reminds me of something Gene Simmons would wear on stage.  There should be a ridiculously huge tongue coming out of the face mask...then it would 'rock'!

17 year olds like it. That's all that matters, all that should matter.

I'd love to see a matte gray or black helmet with a large buckeye leaf on the side, though an all chrome with single stripe would be nice too.

@CHAD - I think that would just be an awesome alternate uni, in general.  Matte helmet with one big buckeye leaf, or the old diamond "Ohio" logo.  Something timeless, yet unique; winking at our past, but modern enough to not seem stuck in it.

I actually like the chrome, but don't much care for the diamond plating.  It looks like a truck bed tool box lol.  I LOVED last year's helmet, but think a chrome one would be awesome.

No, sir. I don't like it. I love seeing the Buckeyes take the field in their traditional unis, which are, in my biased opinion, the best unis in any level of football.  Have to admit, seeing the scarlet and gray take the field as one unit, with all those silver and stripe helmets rockin back and forth gets me pumped!  

Chrome helmet, black (or red) facemask,  invert the colors on the helmet stripe, keep the buckeye stickers.

I personally would like to see matte gunmetal gray helmet with a moderate sized deep scarlet block "O" in the center, with a scarlet facemask.  Imagine how cool the buckeye leaves would look on the side.  You think anyone wants get hit helmet-to-helmet by someone wearing that bad-boy?....Forget about it!!

I couldn't disagree more with anyone who says these will look good.  Why change it...???  Nike should just stick with shoes or making Oregon's uni's.  I'm not sure about all of you, but Maryland's were horrible and I'm not a big fan of any of these alternative uni's.  Personally don't think OSU should use them, but then again...I'm not the one collecting fat checks from Nike for using these.  

also, i'm still pissed off that they took the gray sleeve stripes off the home unis. our colors aren't red and black. baseball, apple pie, and deeply-ingrained tradition: that's what america is all about, and i hate when people mess with what i love about the greatest goddamn country in the history of civilization. 

The main change to the uniforms should be that in the game against ttun, we wear scarlet and they wear blue, every game no matter where it is played.

I think making the helmet all chrome instead of grey would be fanatastic, especially with the stripe and buckeye leaves... I also think a black uniform would be crazy cool

I'm all for alternate uniforms and helmets but I don't dig this one much. Maybe I'll change my mind if I see it with a whole alternate uniform set but this just looks gaudy and tacky (not to mention a ripoff of some of the Oregon sets) to me. I think there's some better ideas; I like Chad's ideas mentioned above. I wouldn't mind seeing alternates with a logo on the helmet, either a Block O or a buckeye leaf or something. Like a chrome-ish red helmet with a gray block O or buckeye leaf or all silver chrome helmet or the matte as Chad mentioned. How about a matte red helmet with a chrome silver block O, stripe, and face mask anyone?? I also like the idea of incorporating some more gray and wouldn't mind incorporating black as an alternate.

@mastermiind - That's a very oversimplified view on it. No they don't win the "on the field" game...but they win many "off the field" games. Recruiting being a notable one. Kids like the "new and cool." This also increases exposure for Ohio State as it's at the least just another reason for tOSU to be a topic of discussion (much like Oregon's uniforms are often a topic of discussion just in themselves. Their uniforms have increased their exposure). The other off the field win of having alternate uniforms is having lucrative deals with Nike who is a name brand that certainly moves the meter for everyone in the world. Nike also provides the latest and greatest technology for uniforms, equipment, gear etc. which does help on the field and is also a recruiting draw. It's also a tactic that (much like pro bball players changing their numbers) gives new products for fans to buy, adding revenue which can then go toward keeping certain things like football facilities in elite shape as some of the best in the country. It's not a coincidence that after Kobe changed his number he immediately went to #1 in jersey sales...people want to have the newest and latest. This gives tOSU fans more merch/jerseys to buy....and they most definitely will buy.
