PHONE'S RINGING -- IT'S URBAN ON THE LINE
What did the tweet say?
Let the recruiting panic commence!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Don't know about you guys, but Joaquin, Rory, Abagail, and I are ready:
There were a couple guys that tweeted at Mike and asked about Mitchell being 80%. Farrell told them it wasn't as high as it was at The Opening. He's also visiting FSU 2 days before he commits.
Yep, it was my tweet. Pretty interesting turn of events. But I dont think its a big deal.
I wouldn't be surprised if he gives Urban a commit on his visit if he likes it and them just goes public at Gridiron Kings (isn't that where he's committing?)
Sorry Urban, Woody is still my favorite
@Triv Yes but I dont know if he is for sure visiting. Maybe Alex can answer that?
Follow me @jaythesportsguy
Wait what?! This guy went from 80% buckeye, with only a visit to confirm, to not even visiting fsu lock in 2 weeks?
Girth where did you get that info from???
Hardly home but always reppin
Who said FSU lock?
At the opening I believe he said his dad already had the plane tickets purchased to Columbus, may have misheard tho
@Triv...maybe. Im gonna watch that video again and see what he said.
Sorry, was paraphrasing. Twitter feeds mentioning a fsu visit with no osu visit planned...........oops, my bad(gay robot)
Just found the video. At the opening he said his dad was going to book plane tickets for a visit in about a week or 2. It'll be two weeks this weekend so looks like he may not have made it up? Doesn't bode well but I'll keep the faith. In Urbz I trust
Damn ... Damn ... Damn ... I'm glad he is possibly having the change of heart now, PRIOR to committing rather then commit now, and de-commit later.
I don't think we are out of it he's just not the stone cold lock he was 2 weeks ago
I think you guys might be overreacting a little lets let this play out
In before the "he wasn't even that good anyway" posts.
This kid doesn't talk to the media very much, for all we know he already visited.
Favorite Buckeye: Obviously BJ Mullens
when will ye of little faith start to trust the one they call urban meyer?
mark may wins douchebag of the year... again
Alex just tweeted he is still hearing M.Mitchell to OSU, dispite the FSU rumors.
Still sticking with OSU....only reason he would ever be turned away is no room and we are definitely taking at least 1 LB....sticking w my guns and info here to say OSU
Sir Rick and blaze may I direct you to the last sentence of my post before you start calling me out for over reacting or not trusting the staff. "In Urbz I Trust."
FWIW Josh Newberg the FSU guy for 247 was asked on twitter what he thought his chances of Mike Mitchell ending up at FSU(about an hour ago) were and he replied "not good".
Really not to panic, whatever happens/happens, the talent Myers has brought in, in such a short time is out of site/sick! Lets face it we are already spoiled and second guessing Myers! Keep the faith and...........................GO BUCKS!
Nobody is losing faith in UFM or having a recruiting freakout... I was simply asking a question to see if anyone had info. I don't subscribe to Rivals so I only get my info from 11W and twitter.
triv, my apologies i was not trying to single anyone out... i was just meaning if he doesnt commit it wont be from lack of effort... and honestly after what he did at utah and bgsu ill just about bet urbz if he had to could find another diamond n the rough if mike says no... thats all i meant sorry for the confusion my bad bro
As Alex said, we're still hearing positive news on Mitchell.
Triv your good in my book we are all buckeye fans no harm no foul we all want the same thing TO WIN .....YEAH I'M STILL LIVING MY LIFE IN ALL CAPS LOL
Thank you staff for the updates.
Like the poster in the Urban - Rodgers funny quote contest, let me correct you before your buckeyecard is revoked.
Urban Meyer is our head coach...not sure who Myers is.
FWIW: On one of the videos previously posted on 11W, Mike Mitchell himself actually refers to Urban as 'Coach Myers'. BuckeyeJMA could have been making a joke.
Dudes, Mike Farrell just tweeted that the chiropractor who works on Mike Mitchell's next-door neighbor overheard that Mike Mitchell is now only 74 percent likely to go to Ohio State! Break into a cold sweat and tear up some panties!
Fair enough, my apologies if thats the case JMA!
I really hope Myke Mitchills commits, but more importantly learns the Coach's name that is going to mold him into an NFL superstar
Not sure why we're tearing up panties but I like where this is going.
Me too, usually when I get REALLY mad, the first thing I do is reach into my wifes underwear drawer and start shredding!
"I'm One Bad Buckeye, and I approve this message."
Sweet...thanks Alex and Derek. Appreciate hearing that...I really want Mike and MLB. He would be a force in the middle not to mention he can run sideline to sideline...which we've missed IMO since James L. left for the NFL & St. Louis.
As far as all this about Mike Farrell and his grandioso tweets...he was also the one who said Stefon Diggs was 100% Buckeye and then look what happened there. Personally IMO Rivals sucks...Scouts is about the best with 247 being pretty close in comparison. If you wanna follow anyone on tweeter for recruiting, follow Alex and the guys here or Bill Greene and Kruelic...they actually (at least most of the time;-) know what they're talking about.
"There's nothing that cleanses your soul like getting the hell kicked out of you."
"I love football. I think it is most wonderful game in world and I despise to lose."
Woody Hayes 1913 - 1987
There needs to be something pantie related at the next 11W get together.
Let this be another, of the many, many examples that we have of players being high on Ohio State one minute and then not so much the next...its recruiting...IF he makes his visit to Ohio State, I see no reason he isnt a Buckeye at the end of the day...we all know what an amazing place OSU is, lets just hope he plans to visit and lets reality speak for itself...
Careful what you ask for there Northbrook!....lol
Speaking of panties, Mark may is still wearing them!!
I don't always take names when I kick ass but when I do, they most often belong to a Wolverine.
Maybe this is one of the cases where they try to throw people off the trail so that it isn't completely obvious who they will commit to.
Dear Lord itsfav & company - can you please stop tweeting highschool boys? this whole thread is over a grown man pursuing a boys college decision over twitter...
Have we not learned by now that nothing good comes of this? Your not a scoop journalist, they are just brushing you off. I find it creep & would not want you tweeting my son...
The world is full of kings & queens who'll blind your eyes & steal your dreams - it's heaven & hell - Ronnie James Dio.
Dear Oakland Buckeye,
Many recruits retweet what people like them tweet. It only becomes creepy when you feel like you can hang out with them and try to become personal with the recruit. And you don't even know how old people are that are tweeting these kids. Yeah its kinda wierd if your 40 and tweeting a 17-18 year old kid. But it your like the same age or a little older thats not wierd at all. So before you start calling people out on it take this into account.
No, it's just weird.
Ok whatever that was a great comment with no support for the reason you feel that way. Good Job.
So your defending your right to "recruit" hs boys to tOSU? The above thread was started by someone taking credit for a direct tweet to Mitchell. Not a retweet (who cares). It has been stated exhaustively on here the damage it does to a fanbase's image (see the hate tweets to Alex Anzalone) when people hide behind a username persona & say whatever they want without repercussion or consequences. I'll guarantee you most people on this site will disagree with your thought of pursuing HS boys through social media. Case in point #2 - Eric Waugh. Also, it is clear the is more damage done to our singing hopes when immature imbeciles interact with these HS kids. I will also guarantee you Urbz would probably prefer we stay out of it - more harm than good. Again, Eric Waugh.
Seriously - leave the recruiting to Urbz & company & the reporting the the experts like Alex. FYI, my son was at the 2 day camp in June (class of 2015) - and I would not want anyone sticking their nose into our business about his future, much less harrassement or the verbal attacks Anzalone endured.
And yes Denny - it's weird.
"What's so wrong about tweeting a teenage boy?" - Jerry S.
"You win with people." - Woody Hayes
Yea im defending my right because I am 17 years old (the same age of all the recruits). There is nothing wrong with me tweeting one of them and saying "hey go to ohio state and bring home the crystal ball for urban". Again if your older yea its wierd but I reserve the right to talk to kids the same age as me.
@oakland buckeye I agree with you on the Anzalone part, no one deserves to be bashed for making there decision, its not right and if you do so you are a piece of scum
@oakland buckeye I didnt tweet any high school recruit. It was tweeted to Mike Farrell of Rivals. I have tweeted to recruits in the past but will not do it again...its wrong and pretty weird. Make sure you know the details before you assume though.
I have tweeted several recruits to wish them well and shoot down any negativity towards OSU.Some act as though all are childish. I am a 36 year old professional with several businesses in Central Ohio and do not consider my tweets creepy or childish. Jacobs stated in an interview just recently hiw much love he was shiwn on twitter and his appreciation. Its not that we can influence but we can show passion for our great state and university. Theres a fine line between belonging to every forum known and stating smart a&? Remarks about indivifuals u no nothing about, and those tweeting recruits or players. Whats the differences between bloggers and passionate fans? Dont say a living is made, alot of my time is consumed in the passion of OSU atheltics. With two children myself I believe I have taught them with a good moral compass and they could distinguish such on their own in regards to social media when the time arrises. Step off the high horses.
Good to know we actually agree -I based my comments only on what was said - "There were a couple guys that tweeted at Mike and asked about Mitchell being 80%"... response - "Yep, it was my tweet"
& sure Urban - if you are actually 17 (not disputing it) that's ok - but there's a lotta guys tweeting these kids who would like to appear that way and are not 17... Which i would dare to say 95% of this sites demographic are 20 or over...
Mike as in Mike Farrell from Rivals. Not Mike Mitchell. It was just a convo between me and a buckeye fan. No recruit.
What's so bad about "tweeting" the players? If that's frowned upon so much then way isn't going to see one in person play a game not looked at the same way? Like bucks4real stated we all need to calm down a bit, and step back. I don't do twitter, never was a fan of it, and I'll get all my information from the professionals, but if a 5* star player is playing a game that I can make I'm going to go watch him play. According to 247sports I'll have the chance to see the 6th, and 7th rated players in the country play this season. That's a chance to see two 5* play, and I'm going to see them too. So I guess that makes me weird huh ... Ahhh Well
word is Mike DID NOT visit FSU before Gridiron Kings....as mentioned earlier this week I like OSU's chances
Any word if he ever did make it up to OSU?
I just spoke to a good buddy of mine who is a HUGE FSU fan and has been all over warchant.com I think is what it's called. Anyway, he just told me that the FSU circles are saying 65% chance of Mitchell being a Buckeye but that supposedly they are trying to get Mitchell in for a visit but Mithcell hasn't said if he will or not... FWIW
"You're pissed because we went after a committed guy? Guess what, we got nine guys who better go do it again. Do it a little harder next time." -- Urban Frank Meyer -- I LOVE THIS DUDE!! :)
don't think he made it up to OSU....likely will after announcement if for OSU I would guess.....supposedly any Mitchell visit to FSU would occur after GK but that is if he does not announce
Is he scheduled to announce at GK? If so, what day?
I haven't seen an update, but last I heard, Mitchell was suppose to announce at Grid Iron Kings.
Gotta believe this is looking good for the Buckeyes.
He is SUPPOSED to announce there...my guess is Saturday?
For real Saturday or are you trying to drive up weekend web hits? Cuz you just did, at least from this guy.
If I hear it while I am there I will post it, if it's not already done.
hope Thompson and the boys are putting the press on him... come on MITCHELL
I hope Saturday is the day! His recruitment has been very quiet. Go Bucks!
Nice Alex...was wondering about him committing soon and not visiting FSU (if he passes on a visit to FSU would be huge indeed). He would be a GREAT addition at Mike LB. Thanks Alex for the info and Derek too;-)
.....what is tweeting? and what does SMH mean.... SOMEONE HELP ME!
Dustin Fox was our leading tackler as a corner.... because his guy always caught the ball.
www.twitter.com ...when you make a post on that site, it is called a "tweet". It is a social networking site.
SMH- Shake My Head
Okay Alex, do you think that there is a possibility that Mitchell ends up on Offense?
Thanks for all your hard work.
Not Alex, but no.
