With ross douglas, michigan will have nabbed 9 players from the state of ohio. With ohio state most likely finishing class with lewis(nc), mitchell(tx),bell(ga), &/or green(va). Can anyone think of a year michigan(or any school for that matter) that recieved more commits from ohio than ohio state?!?! Not saying its a bad thing, as this class is as good on a national level as any in the country.
well considering there are more than 20 prospects in the state of Ohio, I am pretty sure many MAC schools get more Ohio commits than OSU... its not the # of prospects, its the quality, and the top 2 are coming to OSU with Thompson climbing the rankings... Burrows and Marshall are 1 and 1a for Ohio prospects, as long as OSU continues to get the top players in the state, Im happy.
Who cares? Only 4 of those 9 had OSU offers and only two of those actively chose UM over tOSU (offered after commitment). UM has ALWAYS built their teams around Ohio players... plus we currently have 7 and could def add more (Munger, Gibson, one of the OL). It's not like we have 3 guys from Ohio and that's it.
Cause I couldn't go for three
Most of the Ohio players committed to M!chigan this year were not offered by the Buckeyes.

Michigan needs our great state (as far as recruiting) more than need the state of Michigan.
I'd rather get quality than quantity. Also, we have the best player on offense (Marshall), best player on defense (Burrows), best offensive lineman (Lisle), and best defensive lineman (Price) committed. I don't see a problem with going after more national players, so long as they're upgrades over guys in Ohio, which they have been so far.
I wouldn't cheer for Michigan if they were playing the Taliban.
I'd say it's something we'd better get used to. I see more Ohio players next year but not a whole lot more really, just look at the 2014 board so far. To win another National Title (IMO) OSU must recruit nation wide...which UFM and staff are doing a fantastic job of. I just hope the other Ohio kids that "go elsewhere" don't come back to haunt us...kinda like when Coop passed up (or didn't recruit real hard) a couple guys named Woodson and Howard (Fremont and Cleveland). Something I know I'll never forget...

Michelin has nabbed a few of the top players from Ohio. Meyer needs to put a stop to that.
"Here officer, hold my beer while I find my license."
Why should Meyer stop it, though? He's offering players who are better than those guys, and they're responding very well to Meyer's attention with interest of their own. We're getting a better team out of it.
I wouldn't cheer for Michigan if they were playing the Taliban.
Ohio produces lots of great football players. This year, Ohio wasn't deep in the positions of utmost need for the Buckeyes. Throw in limited scholarships and a coach who knows Ohio as well as Brady Hoke does, it's going to happen. Everyone should be proud of Ohio HS football tradition no matter where people end up.
There are basically two kinds of Ohio prospects who go to michigan. the first type goes there out of spite. They didn't get an offer, or they didn't get an offer as quickly as they thought they should. This type of player is not a loss. The other type of player who goes to michigan goes there to "be different." This is a kind of contrarian pathology that has its roots in genetic defects and poor parenting and really can't be helped by the time the prospect reaches his junior year in high school. In either case we'll continue to get Ohio's cream of the crop each year.
I'm pretty sure Michigan only has one spot left maybe 2. They are done recruiting basically...
Gotta get the best players. Doesn't matter where they're born. Recruit a bunch of OH guys for the sake of them being from OH and you get your ass embarrassed in 2 straight National Title games.
Follow me @jaythesportsguy
Exactly. You take the best players available, no matter where they are from. Sure, guys OSU wants will be lost to other schools but this notion that we have to get every player from OH and then move out is asenine. Give me anyone who can play.

Alex made the ultimate point for this rationale "We'll take Joey Bosa and you take Taco Charlton and lets see who wins". Hit it out of the park with that one.
Michigan has 9 guys from Ohio; OSU has 7
Michigan has 14 Players from other states; OSU has 8
Michigan has players from 8 different states; OSU has 8, as well
39% of Michigan's commits are from Ohio; 47% of OSU's are from Ohio
Michigan has 3 players ranked 95 or higher (Morris #1 at 98) 1 from Ohio
Michigan has 15 players ranked 90 to 94; 7 from Ohio
44% of Michigan's 4/5 stars are from Ohio
OSU has 5 players ranked 95 or higher (Bosa and Burrows T#1 at 96) 2 from Ohio
OSU has 6 players ranked 90 to 94; 3 from Ohio
45% of OSU's 4/5 stars are from Ohio
These stats are all from 247sports.com
The classes are essentially even in every way except for total number. Urban isn't recruiting any more nationally than Hoke, and from a percentage standpoint, has more players from Ohio. Michigan has 78% 4* or better and OSU has 73% 4* or better.
We've been seeing these arguments for months now, and it's so dumb. Every team is going to get the best player they can get, regardless of state. Some coaches have connections in places they've been before. Then you have hotbeds in OH, TX, CA, FL, PA, etc. Why do they continuously produce great talent?
Is it because of size (number of schools per capita), football culture that trickles down from generation to generation, a "cradle of coaches" type of situation where one great coach teaches several others to be great and it just multiplies, a pure numbers game, socio factors (the only hope a kid has is to earn a football scholarship so dedicates his life to being a great football player), or just a coincidence or stigma?
Those who stay will be CHAMPIONS!
~Bo Schembechler
We get first picks (usually) of Ohio players, and those vultures have to scavenge Ohio because Mi****an is talentless! The majority of any good out of that place is from Ohio!
Wherever you are, there you be!
Talentless? Hmm, I guess you know something Urban doesn't, Boom. Please tell me where recently offered David Dawson is from. Wyatt Shallman, Dennis Finley, Malik McDowell, Damon Webb?
Oh yeah, and then there's this:
http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootball/story/19345056/meyer-at-camp-in-michigan-vows-ohio-state-will-land-players-from-up-north
Vernon Gholston had a pretty decent time at OSU, too, wouldn't you say?
Those who stay will be CHAMPIONS!
~Bo Schembechler
777: M!chigan isn't "talentless." However, they aren't on the level of Ohio. Just remember, Big Hank is from Michigan, as was Vernon Gholston.

From a numbers perspective, Ohio is much more plentiful. We can agree on that.

Hail: take consolation in that ice fishing and snowmobile opportunities are more plentiful in Michigan.
Excuse me if talentless seems harsh!BTW Who won their last two Heisman awards! Ohio guys! They know where the talent is! There's not much up there.
Wherever you are, there you be!
Well the talent is everywhere. The whole point here is people get so animated when OSU loses a player from Ohio to Michigan. There certainly have been plenty of people OSU and M wanted that M ended up with but for the most part, the best players from Ohio go to OSU. This notion that we absolutley have to fill our entire recruiting class with Ohio kids is asenine.
4-6 seconds from point A to point B and when you get to point B, be pissed off
yea it really is ridiculous... urban has proven he knows what wins games on the field... and its not only guys from ohio... ohio does have great hs football... but so does florida cali and texas... and a few others
mark may wins douchebag of the year... again
Does anyone else think they past few years Ohio hasn't produced as much top talent in past years? Dang skinny jean kids. It seemed like you could look at any B1G roster and find a dozen Ohio guys, but now not so much.
Dustin Fox was our leading tackler as a corner.... because his guy always caught the ball.
While this year is not that deep, the last two years were great--especially at the top.
Kalis (Michigan), Washington, Pittman, Odenigbo (Northwestern), Bolden (Michigan), Dunn, Perry, Brown (Oregon), Stanford (Oregon), Dodson, McMullen (Nebraska), Ball, Mahone (Notre Dame), and Decker were all in the Rivals 250 last year. The year before it was Miller <Braxton>, Bennett, Walker (USC), Hayes, DePriest (Alabama), Grant, Hamilton (Iowa), Farris, Miller <Steve>, Vannett, Hardy (Notre Dame), Taylor (Wisconsin), Shaw (Indiana), and Sturdivant (Toledo)
15/28 went to Ohio State, and ones who played last year looked very good.
^^^ 2012 was an epic class for OHSF, but 247's recruiting data base shows 18 kids rated 4* or higher for '12 compared to 21 rated 4* or higher for '13. In any case the last three years going back to '11 have produced a tremendous run of Ohio talent.
Where did the last QB to lead OSU to a national championship come from again?
Class of 2010.
Whoa. We are talking TALENT here. Nothing about Craig Krenzel had anything to do with talent.
4-6 seconds from point A to point B and when you get to point B, be pissed off
Brewster - You're a Bears fan, right? Speaking of Krenzel, does this image (still) make you cringe?
This argument has been posted way too many times.
Tenn,
Not only does it make me cringe, it brings me back to his impossible 4 game winning streak. Bears fans are absolute dolts about QB play and would rather see a bad, late round pick start for their team instead of a good, first round QB succeed. Jay Cutler will NEVER be fully embraced by Bears fans because of this fact. The same group of fans who actually clamored for Calen Hanie to be our starter (howd that work out when it happened) were upset when Krenzel got yanked. Its an unbelievable dynamic.
4-6 seconds from point A to point B and when you get to point B, be pissed off
Talent or no - Krenztel was good enough for me. On players from Ohio - I like seeing them on the team & we will always have great Ohio guys at OSU. If UM gets some - thats fine. As long as OSU wins - That's all that matters to me.

The state up north has talented players yes Hail, but where did your Heisman winners in the last 20+ years come from? Debate over!

If UFM wants someone, he'll get them or flip them at a later date. Some offers aren't commitable anyway. All 3*'s recruited by UFM are closet 5*'s in this system. SEC coming to the B10 boys! Bucktooooth, heeyaw.
I was in Toledo one time and saw a Michigan Fan buy some pringles from a 7/11. Is this what you mean by 'invasion'?

That was me in Toledo. And the only reason I was there at that time was because we couldn't get Exploding Cheese & Chili Pringles in Ann Arbor.

Invasion. It's on, baby. First Toledo. Then, the Sudetenland and Poland. France will surrender; the British Isles will fall eventually. Russia too. Then, on down the Olentangy and the Scioto, in a pincer-style movement. You see where this is heading. We are gonna roll through Delaware County. Ohio Wesleyan is going to be shocked and awed. You oughta be worried.
but don't you guys have to conquer Canada before even getting to ohio?

@BUCKTOOTH
I do hope you're being sarcastic and don't really believe that.
@Bhop
Where is Eddie George from? Dumbest point ever made.
Side question...do you believe that Woodson, Howard, George or Troy Smith would've won the Heisman regardless of where they went to school?
Those who stay will be CHAMPIONS!
~Bo Schembechler
@HAIL - Smith and George would have been dependant upon their systems, though at the time he played George would have succeeded anywhere. Smith's the only outlier in that group, his '06 offense was as tailor-made as any of Tressel's offenses ever were to any one player (he literally gave up the I-form as a base set), not to mention that he refined the Hell out of his mechanics (leading to his outrageous efficency rating in his senior year). Woodson would have won anywhere, and as long as Howard's got someone to get him the ball, he'd have won as well.
Apparently we don't understand...Debate Over. I never said Eddie was from Ohio...nor did I bring up OSU's Heisman winners did I? I mentioned your two Heismans in the last 20+ years were from Ohio. Yes Eddie was from Cali...your point???? I agree with Hodge...the system helped...not to mention Braxton's new system will help too. We'll see if Denard wins one this year. What's your tTUN fan's thoughts on who's actually going to win a Heisman...Braxton or your one more year to shine Denard? I can say this with 100% assurance...if DR has more than 10 Ints (as he has had every year he's been a starter)...then you can count out another tTUN Heisman. That there should be NO debating...he's horribly inaccurate and makes big plays with his legs...not his arm.
Not to mention...I started my first blog with, the state up north has talented players....didn't I? Yep sure did...get over yourselves tTUN fans who come to an OSU websites to do exactly what you're doing now...looking ignorant and obnoxious over a 6 point victory...that probably won't happen again for another 8-10 years.

I'm willing to bet that neither Denard, nor Braxton, will win the Heisman. I'm also willing to bet I could give two sh!ts about the Heisman. Sure, it's nice to brag on, but I'd rather win the B1G or National Title than have any future Michigan player win the Heisman. Unless of course the Heisman winner leads us to a National Title (ala Charles Woodson).
Side question: Do you think a primarily defensive player will ever win the Heisman again?
Also, Eddie George isn't from California, nor did he attend HS there.
Edit: Banned*
Edit: You're one of the top 2 most obnoxious posters on here. I've never seen a Michigan fan on here (who was here more than a weekend) be obnoxious. Opinionated, maybe, but civil. But you keep me entertained on this slow work day, so thank you.

That's funny you're doing it right now...anyhow...debate over means I'm done. Keep going on if you'd like but we'll see in 120 days. Trust me...I CAN'T WAIT! Eddie George is from Philly my bad. I'm glad to ammuse you...you tTUN fans do that enough for me just being here.

76 - I bet more ppl here like Hail being a part of 11w than those who do not.
And you really want someone banned for pointing out the obvious? You act like Hail and others just come here to stir up trouble and start arguments...its quite the opposite. Most of the time discussion is quite civil until you, and others so blinded by their UM hatred, get involved.
I like Hail and will counter 76's vote to have him banned.

Why does anyone care if the players who come here are from Ohio or not? I'll take a team full of recruits from Siberia if it means we'll have a better team.
