this guy has been a 'lock' to michigan for months and yet he hasn't committed. now that lsu has offered he is entertaining other visits (gosh that feels familiar, remember that lewis neal guy?). i think we can chalk this one up as lost for michigan at this point unless i'm missing something. can't say i'd be disappointed.

Green and Treadwell will likely take the last two spots for them this year.
Hail?
The world is full of kings & queens who'll blind your eyes & steal your dreams - it's heaven & hell - Ronnie James Dio.
Treadwell is one of the guys in this class that plays the recruiting game (so does Green), he has ever since he visited Columbus last spring. Not a shock to me that he hasn't committed yet. So I don't think that you can chalk it up as a loss to Michigan, that said if I was a TSUN fan I would certainly be nervous, and get more nervous the longer this drags on. If he does not commit during or shortly after his official to Ann Arbor it might be time to really worry.
Hail, or other Michigan posters, what have you guys been hearing? And how long do you think Hoke will wait, all the way till NSD?
I think there are worries up north that he still hasn't commited, but he has said all along that he wants to take other visits, which Hoke does not allow once commited, AND he continues to state on an almost weekly basis that Michigan is his clear leader.
So I'm not sure how you get to him being "lost for michigan."
/hail
I almost feel bad that they're saving two spots for Treadwell and Green. They might be two of the top five guys who can change their mind any day, and have new schools come out of nowhere
green got the full court press for three days and didn't commit. the longer both of these go on the worse it gets for michigan.
the fact that Hoke threw EVERYTHING at Green last weekend and came away empty handed is telling to me. Green thought about it, but I think whoever gets the last visit gets Green. That's the kind of recruit he is.
Treadwell baffels me a bit. I think he goes up north in the end, but puts the fear of god in everyone by visiting LSU and giving them a glowing review
Cause I couldn't go for three
These guys know UM is saving spots for them, and they can drag this out till Signing Day if they want. It certainly gives them longer to play the game.
Is it "playing the recruiting game" if you take your visits and say you like the school after the visit? These guys are 7 months from signing day, they haven't even played their senior year. I know the recruiting cycle starts earlier every year, but seriously there's a lot of time for these kids. Why commit now when tomorrow LSU or Bama or Oregon could make an offer. I would rather have a kid commit after he has all his information and can compare Ohio State to other schools and know that he wants to be here. Some Guys like Marshall know Ohio State is the place for them and that's fine, but why wouldn't Green or Treadwell want to hear out LSU, or Auburn etc?
If I'm a top 20 type of player in America I'd pretty much see as many schools as I could, and make my decision after I digested it all.
ohio state has 5 spots left, michigan has 2, just seems like your options become that of 'backup plans' for schools later on in the process. that's why i would commit earlier.
I would still give it a 75/25 chance that Treadwell ends up at Michigan. They have been his leader all along. They're holding his spot so there is no reason for him to rush. As for Green, as said above, he could go anywhere. I'll follow the notion that he ends up at the last school he visits.
@ BTALBERT, I think you nailed it. If you're a top recruit and have the ability to take officials to schools like LSU, Auburn, Oregon, Stanford, etc... you'd almost be crazy not to enjoy that experience. Don't get me wrong, I have total respect for those like Burrows and Co who commit to the school early. As a 17 year old, I'd have loved to have been wooed by some of the top programs in the country, especially Miami, I hear that was a great place to visit.
FWIW: I don't disagree with you guys. I wasn't criticizing them for wanting to enjoy their recruiting experience. Some enjoy the recruiting thing more than others. Clearly Green and Treadwell enjoy it, and that's fine. I don't have a problem with it. It is what it is.
Green and Treadwell will both be Blue and top off the number 1 class in the country. Urban better develop some of our middling prospects, cause Michigan killed it in recruiting in 2013.
"You'll be proud of our young people in the classroom, in the community, and most especially in 310 days in Ann Arbor, Michigan on the football field."
Treadwell and Green both said early on that they weren't going to commit until after their seasons, likely at an all-star game for Treadwell and possibly NSD for Green.
Treadwell has since said that he may be moving his timeline up to before his season, and could drop at any time. Like many have said, I think he's just playing the game. I'm confident he ends up at Michigan...for now. If he doesn't, we likely bank the scholarship.
Green was blown way out of proportion because he was there for an extended visit. He was never supposed to commit, it just seemed like the planets had aligned just enough where people were throwing out numbers like 60-95% chance he committed over the weekend. Most feel Michigan is in his top 2 with Auburn. The latest speculation is a RB who just decommitted from Oklahoma is heading to Auburn and they will be full. Many still think Green ends up at Michigan eventually. I say it's 50%, at best.
Remember, both of these guys have said they want to get their teammates more exposure. That's probably not going to happen if they commit before their season.
I'm tired of the games. These kids need to make a decision 6-7 months before NSD and before they play their senior seasons. Who do they think they are? Michigan's class should have been full by the end of July. But thanks to these guys...NoooOOO. /S/

I'm not so sure they should commit before their senior seasons, lots of kids improve during their senior years and earn more offers, often time from bigger programs.
if i was a star recruit, i am taking my time, i am gonna take all my visits, i am not signing 6 or 7 or 8 months before loi day.
It's a hard game to play on recruiting. Commit early and draw a better class by being a recruiter or jump in the best class at the school you like at the last minute. If I had any football talent at all I would be more of the committ early and recruit type of players than the later, just my personality, but alas I was not afforded that. Neither one is better than the other, but I do think that an early committ and a super recruitting effort to make a killer class has the most potential.
Nobody is signing anything before national LOI day. None of these guys are ACTUALLY committed. Any of them are free to be flipped by the time Feb rolls around. Verbal commitments hold no weight.
Personally, seeing how much of a circus this is, I'd "committ" early just to avoid being bothered by other coaches, random fans tweeting me, etc. But then, some of them like the game. To each his own.
When told OSU set school record for 50+ games this year, UFM said "That's good. We're gonna break that next year."
Very valid point, generally speaking, Steensn. Look at Burrows and Shane Morris committing early and helping to recruit others in the class. At this stage, irrelevant to Treadwell and Green, but I would prefer the early option, as well.
They may be enticed by solidifying a top 2 recruiting class. If not the best in Michigan history, the best in quite some time.
@1033 I don't think we leapfrog USC unless Treadwell gets a 5th star or other Michigan recruits move up a lot. I'm happy with top 5 for pride, purposes.

We can't say verbal commitments hold no weight, most kids who committ end up with the team they committed to first. They hold some weight, but not 100% like the signed letter on NSD.
@Steensn, I meant they hold no weight in the sense that other teams don't have to stop recruiting the kids. Most do, especially if the kid says he doesn't have any interest anymore, but they don't HAVE to.
Verbals hold weight with the kids, but not with the people I was talking about not being bothered by. Like I said, I like to think most coaches bow out if a kid verbals and says his recruitment is over, but any time the door is cracked they slide back in, along with the lunatic fringe fans tweeting them every minute of the day.
When told OSU set school record for 50+ games this year, UFM said "That's good. We're gonna break that next year."
If I were a star recruit I would probably want to take my visits too, but I would know all along that I was headed to Stanford.
THIS:
Treadwell at The Opening:
That M looks like Minnesota's M. The Golden Gophers are getting a good one.
scUM doesnt let there commits visit if they are commited. That is most likely why they havent commited.
I feel both will be tTUN unless Green pulls his MO and goes elsewhere at the end (he loves to play the recruiting game). I see them both going up north in the end though. Green out of spite and Treadwell bc they impressed early on. IMO of course before it gets shredded by our lovely tTUN fans that come to a Buckeye website to hang out and chat about opinionated crap...(I throw up in my mouth when I see that sunshine and sky color on this site).

Whenever I see that M it always reminds me of this. I think they just committed to Xavier.
If you commit early and something better comes along and you decide to change your mind, you're trash.
If you decide to take your time and be sure of your decision, you're trash.
Lose-Lose situation.
Good for those that don't commit to "be sure" of their decision.
@1033....give it a rest bud. Nobody likes a troll, especially not John Simon. Let that one roll around the head for a bit
"They don't know what they don't know." - Coach Mick
I'll be darned if I know the origination of that "M" hand signal. I think it predates Shane Morris, but when, and by whom, I couldn't say. It has become the unofficial gang-sign of Michigan's 2013 recruiting class.
By the way: this business of Michigan's counting on Derrick Green and Laquon Treadwell in the recruting "win" column might be vastly overstated. The term I used for both of them is "unsurprising." Not "for sure." Some Michigan recruiting guys doubt that we'll get both. They both fill positions of need; I think Treadwell is more critical, but also more likely, and perhaps even less predictable (if that isn't a contradiction) given his other offers and possibilities.
looks like treadwell "finally" got that florida offer and "really" wants to go see them. he recently told espn that he was expecting sec offers to come in, low and behold here they come and the longer this goes on the longer michigan's chances get.
let them go to Michi....whoop...just realized what I about typed and threw up in my mouth..anyway..let them go ahead and play for the team up north and see how well they do against our deffense..
I would agree with that sentiment if he weren't the #1 rated WR in the country (Rivals).
Still feel pretty good about him. Not overly concerned with Florida or LSU, but you never know. And of course there's always a chance of Auburn breaking out the $ bags.
