Kind of meh..hilights. Can't wait to get him on campus for some good coaching. Decision making was slow and he needs to read his coverages a bit better. Not coming down on him at all and I never played at the pro level, just some things I saw on the video. The pure passing isn't what he is used to at the high school level. He will need some adjustment time in college. Where do we think he is as a passer compared to Braxton when he was at the same level?
I don't always take names when I kick ass but when I do, they most often belong to a Wolverine.
Unless Braxton goes foregoes his senior season (which i think is unlikely) then JT will redshirt his freshman season, giving the staff PLENTY of time with this young Padawan.

With how unpopular Cardale Jones is with the staff (0 snaps in spring game), I could easily see him transferring. If he does, and JT becomes one of only 3 scholarship qb's, I don't think it's a foregone conclusion he redshirts.
Hootie, this seems like a pretty weak reason to transfer. Guiton won't be around much longer, and he knew Braxton was the starter to begin with. Who's to say that he doesn't just redshirt himself, and hope to win the job for his 4th and 5th years?
Also, Meyer doesn't really care who the 2nd string is. For him, spring is finding out who the starter is, and it surely wasn't going to be Jones, who just got there. Meyer's spring is for finding out who can contribute now, but who's to say that Jones doesn't beat out Guiton sometime this season?
Yeah, I was kind of dissapointed in what I saw. People have been talking him up and this was really the first film I've watched of him. His accuracy seemed off and I noticed a lot of the same things Irricoir did. Is this just a bad selection of throws or was his performance off compared to what he's usually capable of? He did have some nice spirals though and I feel confident that Meyer & Co will be able to get some good stuff out of him.
He's obviously going to be raw. Main thing is he's an intelligent player that wants to be great. He's not a bad athlete either. If Jones is still around next season I think Barrett redshirts..I don't see the need to burn a year if Miller, Guiton and Jones are all ahead of him.
well now it makes sense as to why Barrett hadnt been getting much pub during the Elite 11, and why other QBs are surpassing him in the eyes of the recruiting analysts... still think he is going to be good, but man, hes going to have to step things up...doesnt help seeing Zaire moving up the charts
For not having D lineman in his face and being 7 on 7 I wasn't impressed. He's still young, and we know Urban can work wonders with QB's. This Elite 11 camp is for more of a traditional drop back, pocket passer QB. JT wasn't able to showcase what he can do with his legs. But the kid still needs to work on his accuracy, especially passes over 20 yards.
Thing to remember about this highlight is he's throwing to WRs he's not familiar with on routes that they haven't practiced together. He's also confined to the pocket with 7on7 rules.
Lol at Jones building a "tebow-esq stature". Totally different body's..I'd say maybe trying to bulk up to the level of Cam newton..but Tebow? No.
Nothing to worry about with this kid guys..it's a stupid camp, not a real football game. He won't really need to be ready to start until the 2015 season anyway..baring any thing dramatic.
really interesting in Cardale Jones, hope he gives the coaching staff a chance, who knows he may be the heir to Braxton one day, it wouldnt do him any good to transfer IMO

Agreed. I think he can be phenomenal.

I agree, he can be good. I also heard he understands the rivalry and was already messin with scums Morris. Getting started already, love it!
You have to hate losing more than you love winning! GO BUCKS!!

It's 7 on 7 can't use his legs, which adds a whole new aspect to his game.

I wouldn't overlook Cardale. He's bulking up to a Tebow-esque stature (he's said his goal is 6'5'', 240), and with a cannon of an arm...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6W6zxtCTsGI This kid is still an absolute monster don't get too discouraged from a couple shotty throws at a camp

Saw Mike Farrell's "awards" piece on Rivals from Elite 11.
FYI: JT Barrett is mentioned at the bottom of the article.

Yeah these are some pretty crappy highlights, but let's give it a few years.
Yikes... this kid has a looong way to go. That was VERY UNimpressive.
