Wonder if anyone else remembers this happening? It was in the wake of Tatgate and Paterno was at a press conference (could have been 2011 B1G Media Days) and he made a crack about Tressel knowing where to get a good tattoo or where to find a deal on a car or something lame. It was cheap and of course got a chuckle from several d-bags in attendance. I can't quite recall the exact nature of the joke, but I certainly remember my immediate feelings and reaction. It pissed me off, but it also made me wonder what Paterno was really like. Was he so petty as to kick a respected peer when that peer was down? Clearly he was and it made me like him even less. I never really cared for Paterno much and that wisecrack cemented my dislike.
Anyone else remember this incident? I would love to find the video, because to me it was a little look into Paterno's soul that showed what he might be like behind all the trumped up "honor".

Maestro,
This might be what you are thinking of. Not about a tattoo. Here is the article.

Paterno was a sanctimonious piece of shit for a loooooong time.
I had not heard that, but at this point it's quite obvious Paterno was a piece of shit.
not a fan of psu at all.....you have this comment....of course we know how larry johnson sr. recruits.... we all saw how they reacted to tat-gate.....we all know how their fan's threw urine bombs at the band....anyone seeing the trend?
Seem to remember him saying that with his lean over the microphone doing his half mumbling indecipherable voice and that shit-eating grin on his face. But that became the norm after a while. Pretty shady comment given what we know now.
@ PopeUrban, YOU DA MAN!!!!!
That was the comment. What a dickhead.
vacuuming sucks

People are saying that I'm an alcoholic, and that's not true, because I only drink when I work, and I'm a workaholic.

Just asking, but are we not being the same "assholes" for the way we are handling their problems right now? I mean not a day goes by where there isn't a new thread or two or eight dedicated to the mess that is Penn State. Who are we to cast stones when just a year ago we were so upset at others for doing the same?
I'd have probably laughed at that comment before the whole Sandusky scandal, but Paterno shall forever be known as JoePOS (like JoePa, with s on the end). Maybe Tressel could've used advice from JoePOS on how to cover things up better.
Class of 2010.
quite a bit diff when you are attacking a culture that had their students sell memorabilia. and another to attack a culture that was aiding a man to prey on little boys... ill cast all the fuckin stones i want cuz i think its fucking disgusting
mark may wins douchebag of the year... again
DMC, I'd normally be inclined to agree but, to put it lightly..."THEY STARTED IT!". I jest. I do...but seriously, the knuckleheads over at BSD really reveled in all of the stuff swirling around OSU and on several occasions, I remember reading comments comparing the cesspool in Columbus to the beacon of light in State College. They, as a group of fans, are so sanctimonious and have been for SO.DAMN.LONG. about how Joe always did things the right way. I'm man enough to admit I am enjoying Penn State's fans' suffering not because of how much they enjoyed ours, but because how long the "Penn State Way" was jammed down our throats by anyone and everyone who wanted to talk about it. I am not talking about the severity of scandals here, I'm talking about just how crushed those self righteous pricks from State College have to be. Nothing about this whole thing is enjoyable. The devastation of the Penn State fans is as close to enjoyable as it gets for me.

irony
Speaking of the 'Penn State Way', perhaps this could be used for recruiting purposes:
The best part of this thread is how ironic it all seems now. Not to mention, what about Paterno and Coach K with their round table discussions. To think the whole time I thought coach K was the shady one when I was watching that BS...boy oh boy how facts change things.

Whoa whoa whoa there big fella. Don't use that dirty F word when discussing Penn Staters! They don't believe in that black magic....
