Doesn't sound like the future Buckeyes are fairing too well today. Midwest team is 0-2, Zeke and Marshall not making a ton of noise. Also heard that Woodards just looks good not great, and Burrows has had several receivers get the better of him supposedly. Hope they come out tomorrow and play a little better.

S Morris isn't throwing the ball to Marshall or Elliot much its not all there fult .
To be fair, Marshall is performing about as well as usual considering he is still very raw at route running. Apparently Morris has found him a few times though, and he's shown good quickness.
Also, Elliott won't shine as a pass catching rb on a team with Mizzell, the king of 7 on 7 on the same team.
They won 1
THE SKY IS FALLING!!!
Some people need to stop putting so much stock into these 7 on 7s. There's much more to football than 7 on 7s in shorts and t-shirts...
Where did I ever in my post sound like panic? I stated that our buckeyes didn't have the best day. They were 0-2 at the time and our players were not playing the way they have at other camps. I even said I hope they play better tomorrow. Not once did I say that they won't be good because they had a rough 7 on 7
Sorry Urban, Woody is still my favorite
Better than some dude at TOS who has a conspiracy theory that Shane wasn't getting Elliott and Marshall involved because they are Buckeyes.
Those who stay will be CHAMPIONS!
~Bo Schembechler
Shaq Wiggins is talking trash, said something to Jalin today too "Urban Meyer's gonna take your scholarship"
Most people on Bucknuts are idiots.
Also gotta remember these are essentially pick-up games, these guys don't player together all the time. I doubt there is bias unless a kid selfish enough to let his team lose which I doubt, they're all competitors. Probably just tough goings.
Wherever you are, there you be!
From what I've read, Burrows has had a terrible day today
From what I saw Jalin Marshall had a great day.
Yeah Burrows didn't have his best day and Eli did OK. Not worried about it at all but it wasnt an amazing preformance from them. Jalin looked GOOD when he got the ball but he's still working on his route running. 'Zeke didnt get too many passes thrown his way so not much to say about him. I'm just happy we have this many kids participating, says alot about how good this class is.
It may not matter, but it does mean something. 7 on 7 is a show of athleticism against other top talent. How players perform is a good indication of their consistency as athletes. Does a bad performance mean they all te sudden suck? No, but it is a good indication that they either have work to do or their athleticism isn't as high as others. Both Woodard and burrows shined at other 7 on 7 games so it doesn't mean too much in the negative, but another good performance would have shown some clear consistency for both of them.
No one in the thread acted as if the sky is falling... So no need to exaggerate what ppeople has said.

Sweet Catch by Marshall
Sounds like 3 of the 4 DBS for the midwest were Buckeyes. Southeast ate tthem up...
Also seems like zelenograd and marshal werent given much looks on offense.
Here are all the boys together
It was a 7-7 Two hand touch football game. No line on either side of the ball, no running game, the RB where only catching the ball. Plus it was at least 100 degrees on that football field they where having fun and clowning Anzalone that was best part of the weekend.
I will say this that Whitfield speed is amazing he had a nice 80 yd grab and no one was even close
Zeke is going to have to catch the ball in our offense...hope he works on that
Zeke didn't get thrown to
He may have just had a bad weekend (or may be it was just the QB...). He made a hell of a catch at the Opening (too bad it was just a shade out of bounds) but also made some other catches in bounds. You should watch his 2011 Jr. highlight. Makes a few nice WR type catches in that (a few for TDs;-) He'll be fine...not even done with his senior season yet...he has time to work on his game.
@Buckeyeforlife20: Couldn't agree more...they're not even in pads. Too much hype is put into this 7-7 but it's the new/old popular thing and has been since about 2000. My HS team did it in 1995 when it really started. Now it has interests of college coaches, tWWL of sports and Nike and on and on. Hype hype hype...all it is. We'll see how good these guys are...(hmm hmmm) like the QB's when they have multiple 6-5 250-290 lbs monsters coming at them full go. Then we'll see how good they really are.

same thing can be said for Shane Morris as the Buckeyes ..it was 7 on 7 and it was 100 degree heat........Im not defending him understand but it can't be one way for one and another for another.............
Battles are sometimes won by generals; wars are nearly always won by sergeants and privates. Football is no different, the guys down in the trenches win the games, not the coach.
I'd take shane Morris. He's gonna terrorize the big ten for 3-4 years.
I watched the GK final game the Midwest Vs. Southeast, I didn't think any of our players looked bad at all. Woodard, and Burrows were hurt most often by the safety being out of position, because they ran mostly zone coverages. Zeke got no burn at all, I absolutely love Marshall's head fakes, and juke moves, and it seems like his hands are coming along nicely. Shane Morris looked good, he has a nice arm and made some nice throws seemed to get locked onto RB though.
Offense always has advantage on 7 on's. Bryce Ramsey who had been down at other 7's played tremendous. SE went more vertical than MW, like Buckinbama stated Morris hit Rb's often and also telegraphs his throws.
Zeke hardly got the ball so tough to judge.
Cam Burrows didn't have great showing, but believe he will be a great safety @OSU. Just think he will out grow DB
Jalin will be hard to handle at the slot with other tragets surrounding him, right now he is competing on athleticism alone. Wait until he absorbs some route schemes and techniques.
Woodard straight up lockdown instincts beyond his years. The bad thing for great DB's are you are going to get burned, but it is a game of averages, and odd's are in his favor.
@BUCKINBAMA - I watched the GK final game the Midwest vs Southeast, I didn't think any of our players looked bad at all.
Not sure what you were watching then. Cam Burrows looked pretty bad at CB. There were a number of times he was either out of position or "burned".
Now...granted he was playing CB and most fully expect him to end up at Safety.
The MW defense only ran cover 2 and cover 3, and again it's 7on7 take it with a grain of salt.
@Scarlet_Buckeye ... MW mainly ran Cover 2, and Cover 3, I didn't see too much Man. Add to that the QB had 4 seconds which is an eternity to find an open man in zone, or man defense. I stick to what I said in that Burrows didn't look that bad to me. Alot of the plays he was in the picture but the safety was either out of positon, or late arriving. Don't discredit B.Ramsey either because he was making some good throws. He was killing the Cover 2 throwing in the hole between the CB, and S. Now if you really want to know who was beaten like a drum it was the LB's they seemed slow to be quite frank.
I'm a little afraid of what I'm hearing about Burrows. Don't want him to be another Jamario O'Neal.
Game is on espnu right now. Lots of zone from the Midwest D
The Midwest linebackers are awful in coverage
Ramsey, GA QB commit, flat out outplayed Morris
Marshall almost pulled down a fantastic catch in double coverage. Morris threw a wobbly duck and he out jumped the DBs, but couldn't quite hold onto it when the DB ran into him and he went to the ground.
Marshall is every bit as athletic as advertised. Morris started looking downfield late in the first and forgot his underneath routes. Has a strong arm, but not the most accurate past 20 yards. Marshall would've been better served in the slot.
Yeah, i thought ramsey outplayed morris. I also thought morris telegraphed a lot of his balls and locked on to treadwell way to much.
The kid has a live arm with power though.
"We have always had the best damn band in the land, now we have the best damn team in the land"- Jim Tressel 1-03-03
Woodard looks good. Have seen him not hesitate to help others in coverage to break a pass. His man is normally taken out of the play. Good instincts.
Burrows doesn't look comfortable in cover 2. Seemed confused about his assignment at times. They seemed to target him for longer passes when he would hesitate and the WR would get behind him. Decent recovery speed, but isn't displaying the route instincts you'd like to see. With the small sample size of this game, I'd say he'll end up at safety where his size/athleticism combo will better serve him.
Anzalone and Reschke(spelling?) are awful in coverage. The safeties and CBs for the Midwest are constantly looking in the middle of the field because the LBs are ineffective. Makes them lose their assignments on the edges.
DMURDER:
Agree. Smoke and Treadwell.
The safeties are constantly looking middle because of those LBs.
Morris had a nice touch ball to Travis Johnson. If he configure that out consistently then he'll be impressive.
Midwest D is definitely not on the same page. Some are playing man, some are playing zone, none are on the same page.
Morris locking onto Smoke and Treadwell just cost him as McQuay read him all the way to Smoke and got the pick.
6'4" WR Tony Stevens just out jumped Burrows in the corner of the end zone. Ramsey put it perfectly between Burrows and Blanding.
There is another thread on here that talks about Tony Stevens is considering decommiting from FSU. A lot of speculation that the staff might make a run at him.
The Southeast D figured Morris out at the end of the first. He took the Midwest O out of this game. Looked deep about 60% of the time and does not throw a good deep ball. Does not know how to spread the ball or look off defenders.
OJ Howard has abused Reschke (MSU) and Anzalone.
Ramsey looks on a different level than Morris. Great progressions and reads, knows when to unleash a fastball or put some touch, uses the entire field and knows how to look off/set up the D. Patient and intelligent. He spread the ball to everyone all game and never looked uncomfortable. The game was truly out of reach after Morris locked onto and forced a ball to Smoke which became a pick.
Game over. Not a good day for Burrows, Morris, Anzalone, Reschke. Burrows was picked on a lot more than any other CB. Morris showed the best of what Michigan fans say about him and the worst of what Ohio State fans say about him. He has a high ceiling, but is not as polished as other QBs I've seen. I'm not surprised he didn't make the Elite 11 final. The South's skill players were better than the Midwest's, but had the better QB throwing to them.
Thanks JD!
