The preseason rankings article (and Irricoir) got me thinking about how the conferences stack up against one another. We know the opinion of the media on the #1 conference, but what do you guys think? In order from toughest to easiest, how would you rank them? (don't let past matchups or "rivalries" dictate your decision)
Bonus question: Which (1) out of conference team would you most like to see on OSU's schedule at some point.

Totally agree with One Bad Buckeyes rankings.
I would like to see Florida St or ND on the out of conference schedule. Both would be big games against teams that are overrated year after year. Early in the season it would still be considered a big win before it is discovered that they are frauds.

I want to give the slight edge to B1G over PAC because while both conferences are top heavy, B1G's lower tier might be slightly better.
OOC opponents: Georgia, Oregon, FSU, ND, Oklahoma

EDIT* Actually looking at the quantity of quality teams in the conferences, I take the B1G second and have the Pac/big12 tied at third. I don't think the B1G leads those other two by much.
As a side note, looking at USC's Division: I'd put good money down that USC will be in the PAc12 title game every year for the next 5 years minimal.

I think the top teams in the Big XII (as a group) are better than the top teams in the PAC 12, but I would take USC or Oregon over anyone in the BIG XII
Texas, Oklahoma, Ok St, TCU, Kansas St, West Virginia > USC, Oregon, Stanford, Washington, Utah
I would like to see Michigan play LSU, Tennessee, or Stanford

Can we please get Tennessee back on the schedule?

I think the top 2 teams each season in the SEC are better than the top 2 in the other conferences. I DO NOT think the rest of the SEC is any better than the other conferences.
If you're asking about the top two teams I'd go:
SEC>B12>(tie P12 and B1G)>ACC
No point in including any of the others.
If you're asking about the rest of the teams excluding the top 2, I'd go:
(tie SEC, B1G)>(tie P12, B12)>ACC
If you're asking as a whole, I think it is tough to judge because the SEC has extra teams. This basically places the worst of the other conferences against a team that is a few slots above the very bottom in the SEC. It's not a fair comparison. Dropping the lowest two in the SEC doesn't make it fair, either. That is cherry-picking out the known worst.
I'm a little tired of Georgia, Arkansas, South Carolina, and Tennessee gloming on to the success of the true SEC heavyweights.
For the bonus, I see Ohio State as a true blueblood in college football- success over multiple decades. The matchups I like to see are with the other bluebloods not in the B1G; Alabama, LSU, Florida State, Texas, Oklahoma, USC, and (unfortunately) Notre Dame. We've played Texas and USC recently and scheduled Oklahoma. I want to see Alabama or LSU.
Oh, although I wouldn't mind West Virginia. Not a blueblood, but a successful team right next door that we've hardly ever played. I'd like to see a home and home with them.
I'll take a slightly different slant here. If you look just at the top 2 teams, Pac 12 might actually be number 1. I put B10 above B12 because I think both OSU and mich are better than Texas, but Ok is probably better than all:
1) Pac 12: USC, Oregon
2) SEC: LSU, Bama
3) B10: OSU, um
4) Ok, Texas
However, if you look at the top 5, Pac 12 falls way down:
1) SEC: LSU, Bama, UGA, USC, Ark
2) B10: OSU, mich, Wiscy, MSU, Neb
3) B12: Ok, Texas, WVU, OSU, TCU
4) Pac 12: USC, Oregon, Stanford, UW, Cal
And once you include the bottom half of the league, I think this is where the SEC opens up a bigger gap over the rest of the conferences considering that teams like UF, Auburn, and now Tamu and Mizzou don't make the top 5 cut.
@Ahh Saturday-
I see what you're saying. I don't think there is any way in heck Oregon beats Alabama or LSU though. I don't think they're at the same level. LSU beat Oregon 40-27 last year and Alabama was better than LSU. Oregon is over-rated. No way Alabama or LSU would have only beat Wisconsin by 7 in the Rose Bowl.
To me there is only one truly legit team in the P12 and that's USC. Oregon just doesn't cut it quite yet. They're Wisconsin's level- always good, sometimes in the great discussion, but never truly great.
Hey, where's the Big East? LOL!
