I thought it would be hard to pull him away from the Pennsylvania schools. If the NCAA decides to look into the Sandusky situation things could change (but I am doubtful it will happen).
Damm!!! To lose this kid to psu is really bad, Im not sure whats going on with the staff but I have faith UFM .. I think once the season gets going and recruites start to get a view of the offense TOSU is running we'll be alright but again losing this kid is messed up...

FWIW: From what I had heard Johnson felt an obligation to stay in Pennsylvania to be close to his family. For some time he has been the leader of his household without a father around, so he has helped his mother take care of his siblings. But, he did really like his visit to OSU and supposedly he was quite torn when it came to making his decision.
Hail - Rodgers doesn't currently have an offer from USC (although one could be on its way as he continues to do well at camps). Everything I've seen is pointing to him committing to Auburn.
Understand his personal situation but still hard to figure a kid committing to them for four years without knowing what will happen there. From what I read they are telling recruits it is past them and nothing is coming down the road. Talk about blind faith.
Penn State puts kids in the NFL, no surprise people would commit there. They may get NCAA sanctions down the road, but do they really sell kids on the dream of winning a national title at Penn State? How long has it been since they were a legit contender? 94? Maybe they are selling the guys on Joe Pa no longer being there so things will be different????
Something is also being sold to recruits regarding Urbz offense and offensive linemen. Not sure it made any difference in this case but it is happening.
Too bad we lost that one. As someone else said, on to the next one. It's going to take some time to fix our OL situation. First we've got to fix the national mentality that we can't develop OL at Ohio State (thanks Bollman), and on top of that we've got to contend with more negative recruiting from other schools saying that being an OL in the spread won't help you in the NFL.
I think we'll get it going, just gonna take a little bit of time.
It will take the first season of an efficient offense with eye-opening numbers. They will line up then. I am confident we have the pieces we need with the 2012 recruits included to get things accomplished. That will be all that is needed. If Herman and company did it with Iowa State linemen and personnel, look out. Have faith friends.
That actuallyl hurts big time, IMO. The list of clearly elite tackles is getting very short. Let's hope a few guys shake out their senior season that were not on everyone radar. I agree with the poster above that we are probably going to have to settle for some lower quality OL this year or hope for a Senior tackle to pop out of no where.
asked what impact the scandal had on his decision.
“The scandal doesn't concern me, because this is a whole new staff that I made a great relationship with,” he said. “They had nothing to do with it.”
I find it puzzling that Penn State supposedly cleaned house, but Larry Johnson, Sr. was still retained. He's a PSU lifer, who has been there since 1996. Possibly a coward. The other retained coach is Ron Vanderlinden, who started coaching at PSU in 2001, after Sandusky "resigned". But, he was part of this former staff of coaches who had to have known. You don't coach there for that long, have something like this happen, and not know. Those coaches are tight -- they're with each other in meetings all day. Also, how about the prank call by former PSU Linebacker Dan Connor, to a "former member of the PSU football family", who PSU wouldn't release the name of...hmmm...wonder who that was.
I know people say this is separate, and not an NCAA matter, so PSU should not be punished. But, it's a disgusting cover-up. I can't find a better example of "failing to monitor" & "lack of institutuional control". They should have some serious penalties, i.m.o..
It's difficult for me to see why the football program should suffer for non-football related issues... UNLESS they can show unequivocally that they covered it up so that it wouldn't negatively impact the football program. That shouldn't be too hard though.
The thing is, IF the NCAA does investigate and hand out penalties to PSU, that won't happen for quite some time, at least until after the government is done with the whole mess.
Therefore, although PSU felt the damage last year in recruiting due to the shock of it all, they probably won't feel anything else until the NCAA actually starts investigating.
Well damn...on the next one

Come on Khaliel Rodgers..
Very interesting considering the possible NCAA investiagation.
I'll give him credit though...not letting that stuff get to him.
Have fun Dorian :/
Wow. We just can't seem to break the ice on the OL recruits. Penn State is doing well considering....
I knew he was a longshot, it seems we're looking at 2-3 star projects this year. I think we've whiffed moreso under this staff than Bollman ever did.
Good get for PSU tho. Wish we could say the same.
Bollman whiffed because he never tried for kids he thought he couldn't get.
The North remembers.

Thought he was gonna choose Pitt..Didnt see him coming to o-state either way....
