Timmons camped at Ohio State this past Saturday. He told me he got the chance to speak with Coach Meyer in his office and Meyer told Timmons, they were going to start recruiting him, "real hard." Meyer also told Timmons he was, "surprised with how good I was," and that he really like Timmons' speed, quickness, and route running ability. Definitely a name to keep an eye on. Timmons won the 100 M dash in the Kentucky state track meet this year.

is he 2013 or 2014?
Very interesting as he would be yet another speedy receiver in the mix for 2013. His 'best' offer right now is from Arkansas, but he is rated a 4* @ 247. Apparently he has won the 100m two years in a row now in Kentucky. Hmmm...

I've said it time and again, after camps and senior season is complete there will be a lot of guys who are "no names" right now that'll be stud recruits when all is said and done. Every year, there are a lot of guys that end up in the top 100 or 5 star players that weren't on the radar their junior year.
@GinnTroy 2013
BTALBERT - Your point is a good one, especially when it seems teams are pushing hard to get guys committed early. I can see why a school would want to get as many guys as possible committed early, but I can also see value in holding some spots open for the 'no names' or off the radar guys who may come out of nowhere and impress you.
247 lists him as an RB is he kind of a tweener type?
Rdubs - 247 has him listed as 'Athlete, Running Back' so my guess is that he is a 'tweener'.
Ohio State likes him at WR
correct me if im wrong but alot of high school coaches put their best players on offense at either qb or rb bcuz they handle the ball the most right? so it makes since there could be alot of guys that could be an explosive wr if given the right circumstance. antwann randle el kordell stewart michael vick etc?
mark may wins douchebag of the year... again
It looks like the staff are goin after stringfellow and foster for the pssession spot and gibson, baker, quick and now timmons for the deep threat..ANY 2 of those along with marshall at slot would be amazing..then add in barrett elliot baugh and we've got an incredible class of skilled players (close to one of the best ever)
Agreed.
So OSU considers both Stringfellow, and Foster as "possession" WRs. That tag is normally given to slower WR w/great hands. I don't know if I've ever seen a "possession" receiver with the speed of either Stringfellow, or Foster.
Bama - that's what is nuts about Urban's offense. Speed everywhere.
Class of 2016. Go Bucks!
think ryan timmons would be a very good get. couldnt get out to see any of his games last year due to working. my schedule has changed, i intend to take in some of his games this year. cant wait to see the kid play. the school is like a 10 minute walk from my house. he is also a very talented basketball player, and runs track. if i recall correctly, last year he rushed and caught the ball very very well. seems to have SEC speed and talent.
It will be very interesting to see who our WR recruits end up being on NSD...seems like Urban is leaving nothing to chance though by recruiting a bunch of guys very hard. Guys like Foster, Stringfellow, Gibson and Treadwell seem to be Plan A guys then there seem to be a lot of Plan B/C guys who all have a lot of speed that Urban will still be happy to land if he strikes out on the top choices.
JMO though. Not sure what Urban's game plan is on WR's right now at all...
Agreed buckeyeforlife20
Im originally from Ohio but have been in Frankfort watching Timmons since he was a Freshman. Believe me Ryan Timmons should not be anybodys second choice if that is what he is being considered at Ohio State. I can tell you this, Not only does he have the speed he also has ankle breaking moves and that sense of presence all the great ones have. This kid only touched the ball an average of 9 times per game and ran the statitistics that others take 30 touches to accumulate. Saw one game with 10 touches and 7 TDs that was against a better than average opponent. Their QB distributed the ball well and is part of the success of Timmons as well. Timmons IMO should go where he feels good, but is also wanted most! I would be surprised if anyone that saw him could name a better WR/RB. By the way I think he would be a Percy Harvin duplicate for Urban Myers and I would think after the work out Urban would agree. Arkansas sees him as a Joe Adams and wants him badly, even before the turmoil.
I watched the Ohio Pennsylvania High School all star event. Ohio looked terrible. Hopefully OSU didnt fill their roster with these players I saw in this game.
For some reason I thought I read somewhere that Ohio and Pennsylvania were not playing this year, but that it was Penn and Maryland??
Maybe I read wrong?
Edit: WOW this thread is old...had no idea lol go about your lives everyone, nevermind the idiot that can't read dates.
Timmons 100 touches in 12 games for 2482 yards and 38 TDs. For every 2.3 touches he scored a TD! Find anyone close to that and I will take back what I said earlier.
What is the level of competition he plays against like?
Favorite Buckeye: Obviously BJ Mullens
About the same as the GWOC. They would have probably won that league. Just like the GWOC they play against some good teams and some bad ones as well. Im originally from Ohio and on average Kentucky football does not stack up (Exception this year was Trinity and Highlands both beat Ohio's best), but I am telling you this with absolute certainty. Timmons would have been the man at any school in Ohio.
I personally consider Highlands, Covcath, Newcath and Beechwood as "Cincinnati" teams becase of their close proximity (5 to 10 miles to Elder HS, Anderson HS, etc) and they normally schedule Ohio Teams.
plan to take in a couple of games this fall and watch ryan timmons, from all i have read, he seems to be the real deal. stadium is a ten minute walk from my house, go flyers.
Sounds like Arkansas wants Timmons badly. Very impressed with their enthusiasm for college football. Most bloggers on their site agree with me that they see him as a 4-5* athlete. Great job Ryan you went from no stars to a minimum 4 * in less than 6 months.
Still not a 5* or a 4*.
Actually he is a 4 star on 247 and ESPN (who actually has him in their 300)
Sorry Urban, Woody is still my favorite
Ok well no where near a 5* and a 4* on two sites and a 3* on the rest.
Scout doesnt have anything about him correct. Even the local Scout dweb in Ky started the rumor he had a gray shirt offer. So in my opinion SCOUT has no idea. They do not list over half of his major offers. They chose his worst timed 40 to publicize at 4.45. So you tell me?
The other sites have his offers better but not complete. ESPN and 247 are much more on top of things than Scout.
Unless you are a predetermined name like James Quick coverage in Kentucky is not so good because of the lower population and importance of Football in the state. Resources are put into Texas, Florida and Ohio where the numbers which in turn means $$ is much higher.
He is a 4* of those who properly know him. He is ranked as the number 23 Ath and number 28 RB in the nation and the number 59 WR. Perfect combo for a Spread Offense wouldnt you think?
Only time will tell @Waycracken, I just hope if he does join the squad he doesn't get buried by the depth chart.
Give me Marshall and Foster and call it a day. Any of these extra guys like Gibson, Quick and Timmons is icing on the cake. Get Foster and go after Green, then our skill players will be done unless someone else wants in badly. We have a ton of young WR's with potential, I'd be way more than ok with Foster/Marshall. Then get a few O-Lineman and stock up on as much defensive talent as u can. Defense, defense, defense.
I agree with the D-D-D, but man Timmons has some pretty good lateral movement at full speed, which would not hurt our O at all.
Getting any or two of the following: Foster, Quick, Gibson, Timmons...would be a great WR haul, missing out on all would be a disaster
This kid is phenomenal. Just a few highlights says it all.

Looks very fast, but I'd be suprised if he was 5-11 -- he looks short to me.

I call myself 5'10" and he is about an inch taller than me. Has anyone heard if OSU is going to offer him? He appears to be wanted badly elsewhere so I would say window of opportunity is closing. Too bad, I would like to root for Ohio State as it was my favorite growing up, but quite frankly Tressell ball was horrible to watch living in SEC country. I am looking forward to Meyer giving OSU fans an inviting brand of football, and it would have been really nice if the hometown kid where I am living now was on the team.
If we don't land Robert Foster, I would be truly disappointed. Yes, I'm being selfish, but this kid is a must-have in my book.

Do you mean Timmons or Foster?
say what you will about the Recruitment of R.T. For those who never went through major NCAA athletic scholarship recruitment, this 7 month saga has been a good example.
I thought this was something new. It has been quite a ride.
How Firm Thy Friendship....
all i know is of all the kids at fnl he without a doubt was the fastest kid there... his stats are incredible imo the kid deserves a shot... if he chooses to go elsewhere best of luck to him
mark may wins douchebag of the year... again
and urban loves speed, maybe the competition he played against was not always the best, still speed is speed. but ryan has more than just speed, he has the right attitude, has good hands and is a very good student.
