Updated with Kyle Trout and Matt Miller
I haven't heard much about Drew Barker in a while. Alex, do you think he'll be offered if he throws decently in camp, and do you think he'll accept the offer right away?
"Paralyze resistance with persistence." -Woody Hayes
MUT---yes I do think he'll be offered...don't think he'll accept on the spot but OSU would be right up there
Man, it would be rad if we could get Thompson and Burrows down here on the tenth to bond with Bell...work some "ultimate-DB-class" recruiting magic.
Thanks for the update Alex.
BTW: Why is there an advertisement right now on this page for some drug called Lysteda for "having lighter periods without the use of hormones" ?
On a Barker-related note.. Do you think he will be higher on our board than Deshone Kizer?
Added Nick Richardson, 2014 OL from Westerville Central
I think Barker, William Crest, and DeShone are the three early favorites of the staff...
And the ad you are being served is probably google ad sense and is targeting you based on demographic/psychographic or something else
Is Ezekiel Elliott coming up on the 23rd?
Updated with more names..Elliott coming 23rd...Hill already came this week...Munger is likely not coming this weekend per Bill Greene
I didn't realize Hill made a mid-week visit. Any news on how it went?
updated for some more 2014 prospects 21-23 weekend....
Hill visit apparently went very well...kid doesn't do much talking though
@ Alex, I can't get any read on the Munger recruitment. How serious is Urban about him? How serious is he about the Buckeyes?
@Alex
Nice to know that Hill doesn't talk much. That means TSUN wont recruit him, they only recruit the best shit talkers of the nation.
"if irony were made of strawberries, we' d all be drinking a lot of smoothies right now."
Munger just doesn't seem that interested.
@ grayskull,
regarding s** talking, I believe a distinction should be made to biggest and best. The michigan recruits seem to me a good example of the former.
ha Munger is VERY interested :)
updated again with a few additions and move Dorian Johnson's visit up a week
Kahliel Rodgers and Dorian Johnson visiting at the same time now...hopefully they can hit it off together. Would love to land both of them!
Munger hides it well.
He just likes to play the game, same with Treadwell and Michigan
Sorry Urban, Woody is still my favorite
Everything I've ever heard on Treadwell was he was going to AACC. I've never heard Munger was for sure a Buckeye. But Alex has his ear to the ground so he must be interested.
What time does the camp start?
Capn, Make It So...
I've heard Munger is more than interested in OSU but we will see
Just looking at Michael Julian's tape... intriguing, I'll be interested to hear what the staff thinks.
Who was #11 though? Made most of the big catches on that film. I was starting to wonder if Jeremy Eberts had snuck down to play some HS ball on the side.
updated again
updated again with Chris Durkin and some links
What position would Munger play? Would we take both him and Hill?
At least to me it seems like the 6/21-23 camp/visits will be a lot more interesting than this last weekend's camp. I expect quite a few offers to go out then (maybe Barker, Horton, James, or Booth).
It seems like Hill would certainly play DT (fast dude, fits well with the SEC type defense mantra) and Munger would play guard (although he might want to play DT).
I don't see any way urban could take two more DL with the limited scholarships
Sorry Urban, Woody is still my favorite
I agree the results from the camp later this month will be very interesting. I'm guessing we're not going to get highlight videos of these camps...
I think Munger would start on DL but could play OL if needed....I think they may take both
Bass that isn't allowed unfortunately
Alex, I figured, but thanks for confirming that.
updated with more links and names
I see they had a Kicker visiting yesterday. Interesting.
We could always use some competition at kicker.
"if irony were made of strawberries, we' d all be drinking a lot of smoothies right now."
Alex what are your thoughts on Taivon Jacobs? He looks REALLY good on film, and has speed to burn. I like him more then Devon Allen, and he is a bit closer as well.
You can't have too many good kickers.
I also just noticed the Kicker (Wogan) is from NC. He doesn't have many offers, so I'm guessing he'd be offered a preferred walk-on spot.
Alex, can you eleborate on the influx of linemen camping at tOSU? I'm personally wondering if it's a sign of desperation to get linemen, a complete considence, or it's Urban just stirring up some competition?
Alex, when is Friday night Lights?
Capn, Make It So...
July 27
thanks
Capn, Make It So...
Johnson and Rodgers still going to be in town tomorrow?
Do we have a list of FNL prospects? Obviously not needed now just interested to see who's coming
Sorry Urban, Woody is still my favorite
updated for Reggie Spearman
@Fav, no Rodgers per his Twitter
updated with visitors and links
Alex, was the TN reciever Malone on campus at some point this week?
Josh Malone, yes I believe he was...will update thanks
updated with some more revisions...CJ Reavis and Mikel Horton out...some new names added
Do you know if Billy Price is going to try to go to camp? I know he's stated that he's open to moving to the OL if he's needed there (even though he prefers DL), but you've got to think that camping as a DT could show the staff what he is capable of.
I think the staff already knows what hes capable of at DT or else they wouldnt have offered him a schollie at DT
Favorite Buckeye: Obviously BJ Mullens
I think he meant, to emphasize that he's worth it as a one-sided lineman, since he seems to want to only play DL
^This. Thanks Buck-I.8 - I mean for Price to remove all doubt that he belongs on the defensive line only and end all speculation of otherwise.
The speculation could be simply created by observers when in reality there is no doubt among the coaches about where Price will play.
don't think Billy is camping but I will check...I know the staff has told him he will start on DL.....he is OPEN to OL and I know that for a fact, although his preference is DL
Updated again
David Williams coming to FNL
williams looks like a burner. Would OSU take him over Green?
I would still take Green over Williams. Green has elite speed and size to compliment it, Williams lacks that size. Though, I wouldn't be upset if we landed Williams instead of Green.
"Attack the Strong, Trample the Weak, Hurdle the Dead!"
-Former OSU S&C Coach Lichter
I would take one of Green/Mizzell/Williams and be happy...the latter two fit Meyer's system better but Green is a better compliment to Elliott and gives us somewhat of a power game
Just added some more names enjoy today kicks off camp
Since we have Brionte Dunn, are there any power backs for 2014 that look good that would allow us to skip Green and take Williams or Mizzell instead?
@Hayze, don't forget about Warren Ball. The kid is built like a rock right now, and has room to put weight on a 6'2'' frame (according to Scouting Ohio), and in my opinion has the same mix of size and speed as Green. Maybe Green is more of an elite prospect, but I think people aren't giving Ball enough credit. 247 doesn't rate the two very differently
Can't wait to see the results of the QB camp. Hopefully Henderson blows them all away, gets his offer and we have our first commit of 2014!
I'd rather get Clifton Garrett actually.. With the number of quarterbacks interested in OSU, I'm not worried about getting one of Henderson, Crest, Barker, Kizer, or even another top-level prospect. Garrett seems very interested in OSU and is the type of player that you build a defense around. Also, he and McMillan are good friends so that could help.
That being said, I'd love a Henderson commit too.
Why don't we just have Henderson and Garrett Commit. :)
@BuckI.8 ... I thought I was the only person that thought that. I like Ball's game ALOT, and he actually seemed a bit more explosive than Dunn.
more updates
Warren Ball is a consensus 4-star with a tape a lot like Deveon Smith's, minus the fact that Smith plays against horrible competition. We're getting spoiled if we don't appreciate that kind of depth
Will Dante Booker be visiting the Buckeyes this summer?
When Dante Booker told me he would not be at camp in June because of a conflict, he did mention getting back to OSU this summer. I would imagine that would be to the Friday Night Lights camp July 27th. A
Also, Cass Tech LB Will White did not end up camping at OSU these past few days but will be at the Friday Night Lights camp next month.
Sounds good Derek. Thanks for the info. FNL will be important for 2013 but it's looking to be even more important to 2014, getting elite kids to come and develop relationships with them.
Thanks man for the answer and welcome to the site. I am no talent evaluator, but that kid looked pretty sick as just a soph.
Clifton Garrett informed me that he would again be at Ohio State for Friday Night Lights on July 27th.
Unsure if he would compete but would definitely be there for the visit.
This continues to trend up for Ohio State.
2014 CB C.J. Reavis of Chester, VA also will be at Friday Night Lights.
Waiting on Buckeye offer and said if it happens they will be very high for him.
Good to see Clifton Garrett at FNL, like our chances more and more if he keeps visiting.
Favorite Buckeye: Obviously BJ Mullens
any shot Raekwon makes it back up here?
Landing Garrett early in the process would certainly be nice to start off our 2014 LB class which we NEED to be a good one.
Maybe I missed it on the list, is Garrett for sure coming? Thatd be good news.
I didn't edit the original post, sorry. Posting from my phone makes it a bit more difficult.
I talked to Clifton Garrett last night and he will be there. Just not competing most likely.
Updated
No worries, thanks guys. Very good news.
@ Bucknutz I think Raekwon has something else football related that day, but I think he said he is going to try his best to make it if he can. If not, he is for sure visiting a couple more times with one visit being The Game.
Raekwon was in talks with Garrett about going (via Twitter), both were considering going but not competing.
Orlando Brown jr. on campus today?
AGL - I don't think Brown is on campus today. I know it was said he planned to come the 9th of July but a recent tweet (like in the last day or so) said he 'might be coming to OSU this week for a visit'.
Joey Bosa in the house for FNL
Good to see Bosa visit again and maybe have a chance to recruit some of the 2014 kids.
Favorite Buckeye: Obviously BJ Mullens
Brown moved back 7/15
Marion, OH RB L.J. Scott will be there.
There are a few backs like Scott, Jackson and Horton from ohio being mentioned, who do you think is the best from ohio in 2014 at this time?
Favorite Buckeye: Obviously BJ Mullens
I havn't seen any of them, but Mikel Horton seems to be getting the most interest.
Staff,
I know it's early, but could you guys envision us getting any 2014 commits at FNL, specifically one of the LBs (Garrett, McMillan).
so was rob foster invited to fnl?
Billy Price is going to Friday Night Lights....I was told by a good source he will be there.
Updated list...Billy will be there
SweetBabyJames- there are no official invites it is open to anyone....if Rob wants to come and pay/sign up they can't stop him
Hayze- I don't think it will happen but I do think OSU will get into the driver's seat with some....my opinion could change in a few weeks but we will see
Alex,
Not sure if this is confirmed yet but seeing reports that Josh Mcneil has delayed his commit to got to FNL.
He is going to FLORIDA's FNL.....
Updated again with some Core 6 athletes going
For those who aren't familiar with Core 6, here's this:
http://www.core6athletes.com/
Alex, do you think we have a chance with Andrew Brown?
I wouldn't cheer for Michigan if they were playing the Taliban.
Brown seems to be going slow with the recruitment process. It's hard to tell right now. I heard some scuttle he was considering going to FNL though, and if so, OSU would have to be considered a player at this time.
updated once more
Is Cam Burrows going to FNL? I thought he was going to gridiron kings which was the same day?
Favorite Buckeye: Obviously BJ Mullens
Any word on Mike Mitchell making it up?
Mike Mitchell is going to Gridiron Kings, so I don't think it's possible for him to make it for FNL.
I'd like to see those italics come of Raekwon McMillan's name. A visit to FNL could put us back out in front of UGA.
I'd love for us to grab Garrett and Jamarco Jones and get that core6 pipeline flowing. They put out some crazy talent
Buck-I.8- I totally agree.
If only we had grabbed Pocic, getting Jones would probably be easier. But he seems interested, and God knows the Illini have no priority with the core6 players
I think we are in a good spot with Clifton Garrett....he has said he won't decide soon but hoping we can do something about that at FNL
The thing I have seen with Pocic through his twitter convos with other Core guys like Garrett is that with recruiting he was pretty much waiting till he received big time SEC offers. And he's telling them to just wait and if you're good enough the SEC will come calling.
I can't wait until the delusion that the SEC is the Gold Standard passes. Bama offers should be coveted, yes, but so should UM, OSU, and USC.
I agree, I'm so tired of hearing the biased SEC is GOD talk ... However I can't really argue the point because they are winning what matters, but I'm hoping USC, or Oregon are able to do something about that this year. I'm fairly confident OSU will be doing something about it in the years to come. I think we follow the Alabama model ... Big-Time coach goes to Big-Time school, w/unlimited resources situated in a fairly talented region w/a home state that puts out great talent. I hope Urban will mix John Cooper's national recruiting w/The Vest's dominance over UM ... I think all would agree J.Cooper should've had at least 2-3 National Titles ... Some of those teams he had the talent level was sickening ... I think had Tressel not had an undying allegiance to the "Walrus" he could've won 2-3 titles as well ....
The SEC isn't winning. The top SEC teams are winning, and giving the whole conference this reputation that it doesn't deserve.
added Kc McDermott who will be in Cbus 7/26
Not to get too ahead of ourselves, but it would be awesome for OSU to get the likes of Demetrius Knox, KC McDermott and Jamarco Jones as OT's for 2014.
Well the SEC is winning more then any other conference, they normally win most of their bowl games versus other conferences, they've won the last 6 BCS titles, (which is what matters most) and right now they have more schools in the top 10 of recruiting then any other conference. I don't like the SEC, but right now they are the dominant conference which means the SEC is winning.
We're in a good spot for OLs next year.
So far it seems like Knox is all Buckeye and Jimmy Byrne, the best in state OL is all Buckeye as well.
Plus we have interest from the likes of Jamarco Jones, Sam Mustipher, Damian Prince, Orlando Brown Jr, Kc McDermott, and Mason Cole.
I read somewhere that Mitchell is going to visit in the next week or two. Sorry if this is a repeat, but does anyone know if that is in stone? I thought he was going to try and make it up prior to FNL. Hoping the bucks can capitalize on his momentum from the opening.
@Oregon
I think the plan for him is to visit to osu to make sure it's what he thinks it is and then if all goes well during visit he'll be committing at Gridiron Kings.
Favorite Buckeye: Obviously BJ Mullens
Mitchell is supposed to be at OSU before Gridiron Kings like previous posters have said. I would expect a commitment during the visit or at Gridiron Kings. It is difficult to say when that will be because he is not a talker.
Raekwon McMillan will be at FNL, obviously.
Ohio State is in good shape with a lot of 2014 kids. I would say to slow down the optimism from Knox. The tweets from him have been pro-OSU and nice but I really would not assume he will be in the fold at this point from my talks with him.
@Derek, do you think Knox is favoring Alabama and Texas at this time?
Favorite Buckeye: Obviously BJ Mullens
Yes, Derek, what has he said that gives you that impression?
Does anyone know what the chances are we can get Derrick Green signed up? Does he have an offer at this point? Is he someone we are going after very hard? The kid isn't very tall but he is extremely fast for his size.
Yes there are two Buckeyes in Ann arbor on this site!
I think Knox favors OSU.....
Couple things:
On Knox: From my talks with him it seemed that OSU would be in the game but not emerging at the top. I'll change my stance a bit after talking to him some more and hearing a few things from sources. I'll say this without 100% conviction but I think OSU should like their chances with Knox.
On Derrick Green: I just spoke to someone that has been reliable up to this point that things are trending back to OSU for Green. I think we will have a better idea after FNL though, where Green will be in attendance. I think Ohio State has a scholarship or 2 more to play with if Green is indeed in the picture.
I thought Glass was coming for FNL? Not the few days before. Could be wrong though but I thought him and Raekwon were making the trip together.
Sorry Urban, Woody is still my favorite
I will try to get Glass on the phone tonight to confirm. Trying to time it right since he is at South Carolina for camp and don't want to intrude on his time.
I have heard 24th-26th though.
Talked to someone that felt Glass was 85% committed to UGA FWIW.
85 is better than 100 I guess. Someone bring out the "so you're telling me there's a chance" meme ;)
Sorry Urban, Woody is still my favorite
that FNL list is getting better and better...
When a player is officially "commited" to a school but is really only 85% commited, then thats good news for everyone but the school he's commited to.
I posted this is another thread, but I just don't understand why these kids just don't name leaders instead of commited so early and then still considering other teams and taking visits.
It's a little early to "hold a spot" persay but if numbers are right a kid might commit to have their spot held because that is their current favorite but they just wanna make sure. I'm ok with glass committing to UGA early and decommiting over to the good guys
Sorry Urban, Woody is still my favorite
I thought Cam was doing Gridiron Kings?
^Meant to ask about this yesterday. Thompson is on the GK roster too I believe
Can we be on the lookout for 2014 commits after FNL?
I would not take seriously the commitments of any oos '14 prospects this early, especially after such a hype event as fnl. I hope all our '14 targets in attendance have a great time and bond with each other and start to think seriously about becoming a Buckeye. A decision this early would seem rash and impetuous.
added Munger, Joe Henderson, and Kizer
Added Nick Richardson and Brian Allen
Glad to see Munger will be there.
added Tinashe Bere of Sycamore, 2014 LB
Is Tyre Brady still coming to FNL?
Denzel Ward (OT) out of Chicago will be at FNL. Huge frame.
Tyre Brady is not able to make it anymore. He and his mother just recently moved to the Houston area from Florida.
David Williams and Tony Brown out...Andrew Brown tentative
Are Nick Glass and KC McDermott still on for their visits this week?
Barrett and Thompson (Gridiron Kings) can't make it....
How about hand?
Is Green going to be competing ?
I believe Green is just visiting.
"Attack the Strong, Trample the Weak, Hurdle the Dead!"
-Former OSU S&C Coach Lichter
Hand is 50/50.
updated again
Shelton Gibson will be at FNL giving him a chance to talk with the staff. Who knows, he may commit to us after FNL depending on how the meeting with the staff goes and his grades. Watch out for this one.
F--- Michigan!
Go away, Drew.
"Attack the Strong, Trample the Weak, Hurdle the Dead!"
-Former OSU S&C Coach Lichter
Gridiron Kings seems to be hurting our attendance for 2013 guys. I wonder if FNL will continue to have a focus on juniors or if it wil be moved to earlier in the calendar.
I think it's better to focus on juniors. It will make more of an impression on the recruits that haven't been through the process enough to be leans anywhere.
Seconded 703. More old/obvious/worthless information.
Nick Glass couldn't make it and will come for a game instead
updated
Chris Worley not coming now via twitter
