Ohio State has offered 6-6/275 Detroit (MI) Cass Tech OT Dennis Finley (class of 2013) after seeing him at Sound Mind Sound Body camp this week. Speaks volumes that they offer him over Kyle Meadows, Sam Coverdale, Sean Welsh, etc. after seeing them all in camp. His sister goes to MSU and they have offered so many feel they are the team to beat, but Wisconsin, Illinois, Cincinnati, Indiana, Purdue, Syracuse, and others have offered in addition to the Bucks.

Can't teach that frame. Kid looks athletic enough to learn good technique and succeed.
vacuuming sucks
Is he really that much better than Meadows, Peterson, etc, or is this part of Meyer's plan to break into the Cass Tech juggernaut? I suspect a little of both.
I think they like where he can be in 3 years better than all of those guys...you can't teach size, but everything else you can....they see potential in this kid that they don't see as much of in Meadows, etc.
That's good to hear, but it also won't hurt to strike up a recruiting relationship with Cass Tech. They produce an insane amount of BCS talent... at least 5 I think for 2013, and I've heard about at least another 4 or 5 coming up in 2014. If even one of their top talent guys can be diverted away from Michigan, it will be a big win for Meyer. While Finley wouldn't be a big head to head recruiting win (no Michigan offer), it would be a good start.
Got to be a blow to Meadows and others who had hopes of an offer after the camp. I suspected that the recent OL campers were not up to standards after reading about a punter over an OL offer. Recruiting sure is brutal.
What COMMANDHEAD said.
Finley will go to MSU.
So is he the 2nd best linemen on his HS team?

Sorry Commandhead, any Cass Tech guys that Michigan wants, they're going to get. MSU might get one every once in a while (Richrod era), but Cass Tech is the definition of pipeline or funnel, as far as Michigan is concerned

Big Vern go to Cass?
AHH: You are correct, Vernon went to Cass.

They must not have wanted Gholston. They probably wanted him even less when he stomped all over them
@ BuckI8 - I'm only talking about Cass Tech. Gholston went to Southeastern.
@HAIL - I can't think of a sinlge Cass Tech player in recent memory that went to MSU... so not sure what you're talking about there. And I'm not sure I get the argument that Michigan has had Cass Tech locked down 2 out of the last 5 years, therefore no one else will get recruits out of there. My equally irrational argument is that it is now the Urban Meyer era... he will make more of a play for Cass Tech players than any other coach outside of Hoke... and I like that he's starting to work on them.
@Commandhead, Gholston most certainly graduated from CT
A general rule of thumb is that you get more shelf light out of tackles then you do recruiting guards or centers. It's more likley a true tackle gets converted to interior linemen and become a starter then it is to do vice versa.
My bad, BuckI8... given that your post was following a post about Cass Tech players going to MSU, and you mentioned Gholston stomping all over Michigan, I was thinking you were talking about the more recent Gholston out of Detroit (William). That'll teach me to post before caffeine.
Ahh, understandable. At least we can both take moral victories in that UM has been stomped on by two different Gholston's
