This slab of ribs ain't big enough for the both of us...
Great, funny quote from Urban as quoted in a Fox Sports link:
The camp, sponsored by Adidas, is in its eighth year, and college coaches are allowed to participate. Meyer said the arrangement took him by surprise when he first learned of it.
''This is so unusual. I can't believe we're allowed to do this,'' Meyer said. ''When I first heard of this ... I started laughing. I said, 'You can't do that.' And then our compliance said, 'You sure can.'''
Edit -- Oops; sorry. I see the same quote in what looks like the same news-service story in the original link. Anyway, I love quotes like that from Meyer. Smart, clever, unvarnished. What Meyer was talking about, was the notion that coaches would not merely attend this particular camp, and speak with camp attendees, but could also be on the field and engage in what someone unfamiliar with NCAA-speak might call, uh, coaching. Although I can't cite the bylaw(s) in question, Meyer was asking a good question that a layman might think is silly, but for which an NCAA lawyer would have a needlessly complicated answer.
The state of michigan is not critical to OSU recruiting the way Ohio is to michigan's class. However, there are always at least a few good prospects from there each year. If we can add a Hankins or a Fragel each year (or a Gholston or a Krenzel) while at the same time keeping that prospect out of Hoke's bbq-stained fingers, that's a win-win.
Out of curiosity, I checked out McCray's website at it looks like they're based in Florida. Wonder why they're catering an event in Michigan? Maybe the food is that good, but I looked at their photos and the brisket and pulled pork do not look right at all (compare to pictures of City BBQ).
Put Hoke in the basic brown robe with the little beanie (Fryar Tuck attire) and he would be the exact clone of Fryar Tuck. So, Fred Flintstone, Jabba, Flounder or Fryar Tuck, take your pick.
Let's not startle the beast as we gaze upon him in his natural habitat. If we are not careful he will certainly eat us alive. Look at how calm the handlers are while feeding the beast. The gentleman in the red shirt is aweful brave for hand feeding the beast, just goes to show the control he has over this mammoth beast.
Good call Buckeyeeddie... but isnt it hilarious when some worthless internet tough guys dont have anything better to do than make fat jokes and make fun of disabled veterans. Pussies.
"The annual meeting of the Crips & Bloods, now held in MI, shows that the two organizations have really mellowed out. Although still considered the two fiercest rival gangs in the land - the leaders of each faction showed a kinder, gentler side while sharing BBQ. Inside the meeting it was determined that peace was not an option, & that the war would continue."

Hey now, looks like Urban has a little pit of a pudge in his stomach there. Time to get back on the treadmill.
I worked the camp yesterday, got to chat with Vrabel (very nice down to earth dude) and he was awesome. Al Borges continues to impress me as well. All in all, great day for the kids and I think it was a great opportunity for athletes to expose themselves to the two best programs in the midwest.
I like seeing this. There should always be a mutual respect between the coaching staffs. although we all know they'd strangle each other to win a game of checkers.
This was very cool! Not saying that just because I'm a Buckeye who now lives in Southfield and have 2 teen sons that go to school in Southfield (well one now, the oldest JUST graduated). I have to tell you the local media was all over this...there was very much a "not sure what to make of this" vibe to the coverage. I loved it. True this camp has been around a while but this is the first time I've seen coverage of it like this. Whether you love him or hate him, you still have to pay attention to him. I LOVE what he and Hoke are doing for this rivalry and in turn what they're doing for the entire B1G. Did UFM come up here and flip a bunch of guys...nope...not gonna happen at something like this. But what it did for the younger kids in the area was interesting. I know quite a few local 14-16 year old players in the area who are diehard Spartans and Wolverines and tend to give my kids some light hearted ribbing about all the Scarlet and Grey they rock...but guess what these young men have all been talking about the past couple days? "You hear who's coming up?" LOL....all I can say is O-H-...
Tried to find the vid clip of Urb speaking to a local news station at the event but it doesn't seem to be up o their website... but here are a few more links, one mentioning the different tone between Urb & Hoke...and a pic. I picture Urb probably saying "Yeah, so if I stack my Crystal Ball trophies on top of each other, they stand about this high..."
I loved this quote from Michigan super-recruit Shane Morris:
Southfield — Future Michigan quarterback Shane Morris, after taking a few snaps at the Sound Mind Sound Body Camp, started to laugh while relating his brief interaction with Ohio State coach Urban Meyer Wednesday morning.
Morris, heading into his senior season at Warren DeLaSalle, sat in the front row of the Southfield High auditorium listening to Meyer's early morning speech at the well-attended first day of the two-day camp.
"Did you see him point at me?" Morris said, laughing.
Meyer's message was simple: Work as hard as you can during your college years academically and athletically and your future is set. Meyer told the high school athletes they must always be ready to play when their number is called.
That's when Meyer pointed at Morris.
"I looked back at him and laughed," said Morris, who enjoyed the interaction. "He's a great guy."
"He's a great guy."
I'd be very, very surprised to hear anything like that about Dantonio.
Hail: suggesting that it's to be expected that Urbz would be likable because he appreciates the value of PR is like saying that Rosie O'Donell must be sexy because she likes sex, or that Hoke must be a gourmet because he loves grub.
^Rosie O' Donnel joke +1. I thought it was pretty cool that Shane Morris thought and said that. He constantly tries to put it out there how much of a "Michigain Man" he is and how much he hates OSU but everyone who comes in contact with Meyer seems to appreciate his sincerity and honesty. He doesnt speak like a politician, people like to be looked at square in the eye and not get bs'd.
At least Urbs got one before they disappeared
When told OSU set school record for 50+ games this year, UFM said "That's good. We're gonna break that next year."
Is Hoke choking on a bone? He needs to slow down and realize that isn't a McRib!

I find it funny that there is already a picture that illustrates what Hoke and Meyer will be doing to the Big Ten for the next few years.
There should be a second picture that illustrates what Meyer will be doing to Hoke, but this works for now.
4-6 seconds from point A to point B and when you get to point B, be pissed off
Good to see that not only is Hoke overweight, he is so in a way that his legs are still tiny, so he just overall looks like Humpty Dumpty.
It wasn't in the story, but the two coaches are dining on the bones of the Penn State football program in that picture.
Meanwhile, Bielema is not pictured but is complaining that Meyer and Hoke each took a few ribs he had seen first.

What is the delivery guy for Miller High Life doing at a scUM football camp?
If Denard Robinson isn't careful with spooning all that food into his mouth, he's going to end up lookin' like Whoopi Goldberg
lol Brewster. Plus reports were that Hoke called Ohio State "Ohio State" today
Hoke: Check out my bling! fresh off a BCS bowl victory!
Urbs: Yeah...I left the crystal footballs in Florida...
Meyer is eying the camera.....hoke is eyeing the food!!!!
Coach Meyer: "These ribs are gooooood."
cHoke: *too busy stuffing his mouth*
Hoke: What do you think you're doing?
Meyer: You got this on camera if he bites my hand off right?

do not care what any one says michigan can have the best recruiting class for the next ten years ,they will never be able to beat ohio state again.

We can make all the fat jokes we want, but Hoke isn't the one with the heart problem... hmmmm.... maybe Meyer is putting those ribs back?
Do not care what anyone on 11w thinks i'll use the space bar as I see fit

Meyer is in trouble if this is a rib eating contest to win over a recruit.
Awesome Buckeyeski

@Buckeyski I think I just wet my pants laughing at that.. jk going straight to hell now
Meyer asks the fellas from McCray's Backyard B-B-Q: "Which one of you two is the better pitmaster?"
Hoke asks: "Do y'all do whole hog barbecue?"
Out of curiosity, I checked out McCray's website at it looks like they're based in Florida. Wonder why they're catering an event in Michigan? Maybe the food is that good, but I looked at their photos and the brisket and pulled pork do not look right at all (compare to pictures of City BBQ).
