DT Henry Poggi

to Michigan over Alabama today.  Good pick up for us, but @Alex, is this who you were referring to that OSU fans wouldn't be happy with?

Good pick up for you guys.  2 years ago both he and Bosa would've ended up at Bama.  Maybe the times are changing?

Good pickup for Um. As AHH SATURDAY mentioned, its nice to see Big Ten teams beating out an SEC team for recruits (even if that Big Ten team is Um).

With Michigan getting what their 20th commit, how many more spots are available for them? I assume Treadwell commits in the future. Maybe they add Derrick Greeen. Is it conceiveable that Um's class is full before the end of summer?

Im not gunna lie Um is gunna have a real nice class. Whats sucks is the players I like most shouldve been ours, like McCray, Dymonte Thomas and Derrick Green. If OSU woulda pushed real hard for them, all 3 woulda committed. Treadwell just sounds like an absolute stud. Robert Foster is probly more talented but like Ive seen on here, Hard work trumps talents. With that said no way would I trade their class for ours, I like where we're at.

@Tenn

Most are saying four spots left.  Probably WR (Treadwell), RB (Wilkins or Green...neither of which are Michigan leans), DLineman (Mathis, Teller, and Bower are the names I keep hearing), and if we're really lucky a DB (Fuller, McQuay, or Luke).  Dline would be the only group we'd take 2 from, IMO.

Conceivable that our class is full by end of summer, yes.  Likely? no.  Treadwell could announce anytime between now and NSD, but keeps saying later rather than sooner.  Green and Fuller aren't in a hurry.  I think we're going to be on wait for a while.

@HAIL - You guys had the same issue with Isaac that we did with Heuerman, putting all our eggs into that basket cost us with McNiel, like it did for you guys with guys like Green/etc.  Same thing could be argued with Leavenberry--but like us, the next man will step in.  I am pretty jealous of Michigan's momentum, they're recruiting at a torrid pace.  The only downside is that filling up early (either with committed or held spots) could leave you at a disadvantage with some of the guys that come on late (which is at least how I've rationalized losing out on Anzalone and Neal), or are slow-playing their recruitment.

Hodge, you're totally right.  We may lose out on a top rated RB like Green, a top rated LB like Dorian O'Daniel, and maybe a top rated WR if Treadwell goes elsewhere.  Levenberry and Issac/Green were/would be bonuses.  We have Deveon Smith and Wyatt Shallman at RB already and Gedeon and McCray at LB following a very strong LB class last year, so it really only hurts our ego more than anything else.

I think that would be the hardest part of recruiting.  If you have a 4 star guy that is 60% to commit and a 5 star guy that is 40% to commit, who do you pursue harder?  The more likely, but less talented, or the highly coveted headliner?

I like the approach of filling the position with talented, but not elite guys while still going after the elite guys, rather than leaving a position unfilled while pursuing those big names.

@HAIL - I'm almost in total agreement, but I think that you need to leave some spots open towards the end of the cycle for the big guys.  Granted, maybe Hoke's aware of this, and knows that--at least at this very moment--Michigan really isn't the sexiest choice of an Uber-recruit (which has really been the only type of player they've had a hard time landing, I've seen this discussed ad-infinitum on mgoblog); therefore, he's going after those four stars now and counting on them to make UM a major player for the best-of-the-best in the very near future.  So, he's going after a lot of guys early, and scoring the commits hopefully before they completely explode onto the scene as seniors.  Next year, I think UM will be pulling in top ten guys (of course, that's if they don't land Fuller or Green).

I don't think Michgan has a shot at Derrick green, he listed his schools that stand out and no michigan on a list of like 10. It is pretty crazy that Michigan has so many commits, didn't think they had that good of recruiters. But also it will actually make the Michigan games worth something again.

Apparently Alex doesn't reply to Michigan fans.

Green seems to be all over the place... I'm pretty sure he said as recently as last week that he planned on visiting tsun two more times... that would sound like legitimat interest.

Alex. According to Urban, Michigan has the best recruiter in the country in Mattison.

Green just did an interview tonight and said Michigan will definitely be on his list and he will taking in a game in AA this fall.
