It's been confirmed that backup center Brian Bobek will transfer. Bobek's transfer has been anticipated, since Corey Linsley and Jacoby Boren are ahead of him on the depth chart.
It is not known where Bobek will transfer to.
From Brandon Castel (ozone.net): "#OhioState University spokesperson confirms backup center Brian Bobek will be transferring from the program this off-season."

I wish him the best, but I just don't understand guys who transfer because they didn't win the job right away. He's hurting his team by doing this, and that seems unecessarily vindictive. Dude was going to see playing time.
The North remembers.
SEB: The only way Bobek was going to see playing time this fall is if Linsley and Boren were both hurt. If he can get solid playing time elsewhere, good for him; it's not like it'll hurt the Buckeyes (I really don't mean that in a conceited way).
Now we have another scholly to deal to a prospect.

I guess I'll disagree with you Steve. An early enrollee who didnt even practice the whole spring was ahead of him on the depth chart. He wasnt going to see the field. I dont blame him for looking for a better opportunity for pt.
we need depth on the O-line and so this isn't a massive loss but still not helpful...would have been nice to see what this kid could do when healthy
Count me in the group that wishes Bobek success whereever he transfers to and I am very glad we have another scholarship available for 2013.

I much of a deal is put on how tall an offensive linemen is? Becuase I believe he is only around 6'2 and so is Antonio underwood and I thought it hurt him a lot when he go in the game because he was getting pushed around like crazy and got taken out. But I wish him luck, but as a few other people said I don't think it really hurts us that much if he was 3rd on the depth chart behind a freshmen.
Root: Height helps sometimes, but arm length is what really helps on the line. I've seen 6'5" dudes with t-rex arms lose starting spots to guys who are 6'1" with longer arms.

I have to think that Bobek was told where he stands by Urban, and he (Bobek)feels that his talents will be better used at another school. The fit must just not be there. Can't fault him for that. Good luck Mr. Bobek, I hope you enjoy a productive and satisfying collegiate career at wherever you may decide to transfer to.
heard he's looking at WVU
