My guess... Most important position left to fill is OT. We need at least 1 and the only guy I know of with an offer that is uncommitted is Finley. Maybe Meadows will get an offer next.

If we take both Hill and Munger one of those two or Price will go to the OL. Everybody figures it would be Price. Maybe we only take/get one of the two.

Staff wants at least two receivers and maybe another guy who can play slot/RB. The guys in the runing here seem to be Baker, Foster, North, Treadwell, Gibson, Quick, Mizzell, and Williams. Baker, Mizzell and Williams are probably in the Slot/RB sweepstakes. I have no idea who stands the best chance of becoming a Buckeye.

What else? Bell or the best S they can get, a leo like Lewis and a nickel back/OLB like Lee.

Looks like 9 more if we take both Hill and Munger, otherwise 8.

Edit: I see Latham still listed with an OL offer but I haven't seen any evidence of interest. Stringfellow should be added to the WR group.

No one has mentioned Tyquan Lewis who would likely play the STAR position, I'd love him in this class

Edit: woops. didn't see that, but I believe coaches are looking at him at star either way, according to reports.

Finley is supposedly an MSU lean, and they are hurting more than we are at OL... 2 last year and zero so far this year.  Hopefully Meyer can work some magic.

Although I kind of like the idea of taking a stud DT and moving Price to OL.  Not sure what price thinks of that though.

Baker, Lee, Bell, Gibson, Foster, Munger, Peterson, then Mizzell/Green for the last spot.

I wouldn't cheer for Michigan if they were playing the Taliban.

Thebadbowl has closest to what I would say... some caveats..

We don't need a ton more safetys.. if we get Bell, I could see Lee being left out, but Lee's flexibility makes him attractive... Baker needs an offer like yesterday cause that gives us flexibility with Burrows (could be moved to safety)

Hill is in this class, imo, he projects beeter than Munger at DT.  Now, if they want Munger as a OL, I could see them taking both, but I have Hill there now.

I am iffy on Foster, him adding tOSU back is more rumor and from his mouth than a lot of action from the staff (as I've seen).  Once Gibson and Treadwell makes their decisions we will see where the staff is on Foster.  I think Quick goes to L'ville (big fish little pond), so it'll be down to Stringfellow, Foster, Allen (who is really JUST starting his recruiting now), and North for that last WR spot (imo).  Wait in see for me.

If I had to call it now, I would say we take 9 more (21 total): Gibson, Bell, Baker, Hill, Peterson, Munger (as an OL), Lewis, Allen, Mizzell/Green (whoever pulls the trigger first)

@Miller... No, he is mostly a DB, but can also be used as a WR (http://bucknut522.blogspot.com/2012/06/adrian-baker-13-fl-cb.html, http...)

Oh, and since Lee is now in, I think our dream of Green/Mizzell may have evaporated, but also looks like Munger may be left out... should be interesting... depends on how many DBs the staff wants to take

OLB/Star: Lee (just announced)

DB: Bell

WR: Baker, 1 of Stringfellow/Gibson/Treadwell/?

One more? Maybe Munger.

Rampage, I 100% agree with you that Baker is currently mostly a DB, but by most reports he is being recruited as an athlete, with him more than likely moving to the offensive side of the ball (alex, correct me if I'm wrong, but I think you have eluded to this multiple times.

Set your avi
rampageripster on 26 Jun 2012 - 2:01pm #

@millertime... From what I have gathered he can be used on both sides, which adds to his appeal, but I think he ends up at DB in the end... just my opinion.. so I wouldn't count him as a WR as northbrook did

14. Gibson

15. One of Foster, Quick, Treadwell, North, Stringfellow, Allen

16. One of Foster, Quick, Treadwell, North, Stringfellow, Allen

17. LB (either Tyquan Lewis, Lewis Neal, Mike Mitchell)

18. Munger/Hill

19. OL (who knows who this will be)

20. Bell

and then if room:

21. One of Derrick Green, Taqaun Mizzell or David Williams

Jdadams01's picture
Jdadams01 on 26 Jun 2012 - 5:10pm #

My best guess with percentage that we get them (which is just opinion):

14. Baker (75% if offered)

15. Bell (50%)

16. Stringfellow (50%)

17. Finley (50%)

18. Hill (60%)

19. Peterson (100% if offered)

20. Smoke (if he wants in), Meadows (100% if offered), or Foster (who knows with this kid)

If we get one more OT and one more interior OL, I think we are fine. Especially because I think Billy Price has a 50/50 shot of ending up on the OL. Meadows as a third tackle in the class wouldn't be bad either. I don't think Quick comes here as he seems to be really attached to staying home. I think Gibson may move to the second tier of choices now due to the grades issue. UFM has really pushed academics so far and it is a sticking point for his winners/losers push. Bell will obviously be the cherry on top.

steensn's picture
steensn on 26 Jun 2012 - 5:57pm #

#14 Baker 100%, he wil be offered IMO.

#15 Peterson 100%, he will be offered IMO due to top targets going elsewhere.

#16 Gibson 100%, he will be offered IMO and grades get figured out.

Note the grades thing, I am pretty sure that grades always "get worked out" in the end in most cases.

#17 OT from out of no where (100%) or Rogers OG (40%)

#18 Foster (60%)

#19 Bell (50%)

#20 Witfield (just because he was brought up today)

I expect a hard "here is how it is" talk to a few more current players on the rosterwho jet than expected. The worlds a tough place, they hopefully will learn this.

#21 Stringfellow

#22 (Track Scholly :) ) Allen

Set your avi
Derek Young Staff on 26 Jun 2012 - 5:59pm #

If they live up to their billing, after this season Decker will have 3 years of eligibility, Dodson probably 4 still assuming he gets redshirted, and Lisle 4, maybe 5.  They will need some depth obviously but don't rule out a flip or Dennis Finley at this point.  Not that desperate for tackles.

Peterson and Meadows will struggle to get in to this class I think but only because of the numbers crunch.  If Baker becomes #14 on Friday like I think he could, we're left with 2 available scholarships, and with a potential of it to growing around 6.

6 spots left and still have to get receivers.  Gibson, Foster, Quick, Allen, and Stringfellow all still available.  Michael Hill, Tyquan Lewis, and Donovan Munger still available.  Vonn Bell still available.  Derrick Green and Taquan Mizzell still available.

This is why things are going slow.

Correct me if I'm wrong but don't we have 17 spots for this class? 15 seniors + 1 remaining scholly from not getting Diggs + 1 for Bobek transferring. 15+1+1=17 correct?

Just curious on your guys' thoughts.  I think many of you feel like he was going to Auburn, anyway (and if he gets a USC offer, there), but Buckeyes still are in it.  I kind of feel like Hoke is better served to wrap up one of the WR, DB, or Dline guys we're still in the mix for.  If Hoke offers Rodgers, I think it might be, partially, to stick it to Urban.

Scholarship count is rough...

My guess is that after this year they have a lot of "real" conversations with a lot fo guys that are not panning out telling them they have no shot to start at any point and if they want to they should start looking elsewhere. Kinda like they did with Bobek. not a popular move, but I would like to know instead of being strung along and it would open up scholarships.

2002osubuck on 27 Jun 2012 - 4:20pm #

assuming we have 20-21 spots here they are:

14 bivins (ND has 3 tackles this class 1 too many..the staff works hard and flips him)

15 gibson (if grades arent there we offer baker similar players FAST!)

16 foster (or stringfellow said we are his top 2 with ND at ucla camp last week)

17 green (been a buckeye all along just wants love from the new staff)

18 bell (ppl forget he has family that live in ohio)

19 hill (grew up a buckeye fan..its him or munger whoever commits 1st)

20 lewis

2014 will be a huge class for OL and LB we're taking tweeners this time around with lee and lewis..i think bell's gonna play some O, as well, too good not to..maximizum potential with minimal spots

Time to update my guess list... first the last two commits

13- Lee: missed this one because i thought he projected to safety and I think the staff will wait for Bell before taking another safety. But after reviewing his tape i agree with a lot of experts that he has OLB written all over him. Good eye Fickell

14- Hill: nailed it

I think this calss gets to 20-21. We currently have 17 available schollies plus typical attrition of 3ish

15- Baker: If what he is telling us is true, and he sent in his transcripts, i think the staff is satisfied with his talent. Add in that he has an offer from Vandy and I'm confident in an offer & commit friday. This would end CB recruitment and he could also see time on offense.

16- Bell: I think thia may be a FNL commit if he makes the trip, or else in the fall. UGA scares me a bit here, but we've blown away all other vists he has had. I'm comfortable with him being in the fold by november if not as early as july.

17- Gibson: Grades are the only issue here. I see this commitment in the fall as the new test scores are released.

18- Green: Playong the recruiting game, will commit at his fall game visit.

19- Allen: Just really starting his recruiting and will bite firat out of the remaining wrs.

20- Lewis: They want two lbers, and they get their second. Late SEC offera make it interesting.

IF ROOM 21- Dark horse OL: we dont need one and none stick out right now... we'll. see
