FYI, Mike Vrabel was down in South Carolina yesterday visiting DT Michael Hill. Hill plans to visit OSU in June and grew up rooting for the Buckeyes.

This is one of the reasons I don't get upset about going after kids who are not from Ohio in recruiting. There are OSU fans everywhere. And there are kids who know OSU nationally because of the tradition and their relevance. I know its great to root for an in-state kid to do well and represent Ohio. As the OSU coach you also want to build relationships with the high school coaches in your state and we all know Ohio has plenty of great high school football talent. I get all that. But from what I hear from many OSU fans, it comes across as if people would rather take a so-so kid who is from Ohio than to take a great prospect from out of state.
I agree with you 100%. It might make a better story for the Dispatch right now to have an in-state kid playing for the Bucks, and if his talent is where we need it to be, great, but when we win a national championship, I doubt if too many people will mind that we had some of the top players from NJ, Florida, Colorado, California, North Carolina, etc...
I like that we are building a team to run a 74 defense. Like the bears 46 but with 7 linemen and 4 linebackers and...that's it. We don't need DB's because the QB will be planted .3 seconds after every snap, kind of like (wince) the 41-14 debacle.
When told OSU set school record for 50+ games this year, UFM said "That's good. We're gonna break that next year."
Actually it wasn't called a 46 defense because it utilized 4 DLs and 6 LBs, it was an aggressive 4-3 set. Buddy Ryan named it after Doug Plank's uniform number.
Well my newly created one is called that anyway...because it utilizes 7 and 4 and makes sense to me!
