Surprising commit to me. Thought he might still be a Buckeye but he will have more of a chance to beat out someone at that program than he will here against Jones or Barrett. Good luck to him.

wish him well. Hope the Buckeyes are able to land Barrett as their 1 and only QB prospect for 2013.
Not completely surprising. I did think he would eventually commit to OSU from what I was reading and hearing, even with Barrett committed. I think he really wanted to be a Buckeye but they wanted him to wait until they saw what was gonna happen at other positions. I'm guessing this means we don't take another QB in this class, that is unless they go after Chapman now.
I think other things need to be priorities with limited scholarships. We have young QBs on the roster and one already committed, as well as Barker and Crest where we want them for next year. I assume Urban kind of let Mitch know that
Agreed. Any ofther year, Trubisky would've already been a Buckeye. With limited scholarships and bigger need at WR, OL and LB, his spot is going to someone else. Unfortunate for him.
DARRON LEE BABY!!!
Then, if/when he doesn't work out, unleash him at wideout or safety.
I'm very happy with our QB situation as it stands. Guiton is a better backup than most even know & will see the field plenty this year, Cardale has so much potential, Barrett is a great recruit & Braxton is...Braxton! I don't believe we needed another QB recruit.

Gotta think the staff was honest with him and told him that they were shutting down QB recruiting for this class. Good luck, Mitch!
@Yankee,
Lee will play safety, if anything at OSU. He is unproven (inaccurate, and poor with decisions) in high school, never winning a starting job. He could play WR, but that's unlikely. All his big offers have come in for safety, I think OSU may offer him there if Bell doesn't pan out. We may see Chapman get more interest at QB now.
We also will have Jalin Marshall & from what I've seen & read - is looking impressive when he plays QB at some of the recent camps. I think Jalin is going to be a genuine animal when he arrives!

IMO, Darron Lee is behind Bell, Cravens and Worley on the list at safety. Seeing as we don't have much of a shot at Cravens, Lee will only get offered if Bell and Worley say no
Sorry Urban, Woody is still my favorite
FWIW: Bill Kurelic over @ Bucknuts said recently that Jalin Marshall has improved dramatically as a passer over the last year or so. He said that Marshall as a QB prospect is at about MAC level as a passer and is still improving. Obviously he projects higher as an Athlete prospect than at QB for his playmaking abilities, running, catching and his speed. When the ball is in his hands good things will happen. Don't know if it will happen , but according to Kurelic, Marshall would love to get a shot at playing QB in Columbus in the future.
So yeah we have Barrett in this class, but Marshall could be considered another QB in this class, so not getting Trubisky is not a huge deal. And when you look at 2014, we are in on other top prospects as well in Crest & Barker.
We need playmakers at WR. I see Marshall playing there.
I think the staff has decided to hold off on QB for now...Mitch was not going to get lost in the shuffle...if OSU does have a spot and decides to offer him I wouldn't be 100% shocked if he switched...if they get two in 2014 like Crest/Barker or something of the sort they are more than fine
Agree @Triv.
Marshall is going to be everywhere, and if he can throw some, all the better, because that means when he goes to the "Wildcat" ... They can't just expect a run from him, they will also have to respect the pass ...
Best of luck to Trubisky. Go after WR's and RB's.
vacuuming sucks
Guess we'll see him in '15...
totally agree with @poison on both posts.
Those who stay will be CHAMPIONS!
