Are these for sure legit? I know over the last few years the design that has leaked early has been a hoax. Just curious. If these are them I like the black.

These aren't the real ones..they were made by an artist..he did all the big ten teams..Nike hasan't announced who will be wearing them this year I do not think..I just hope we wear them..if we have them..for the Scum game..it will be nice to see the seniors wear something special..on a special day..the 'Shoe will be ready to explode. But I am almost positive these aren't the uni's..but I would happy to be wrong haha because they are badass..except for the helmets..I don't like logos on the helmet at all
I dont always root for college athletics, but when i do (which is most of the time) I choose THE Ohio State Buckeyes.
I like the fact that the past few have been a little "retro" to honor a former team. I say this year they bring back the jerseys they wore in Harley's days.
I also don't mind wearing them once a year (although I think I would prefer an away game because I love the scarlet unis). Also it should never be against ttun. In fact for that game I would prefer that we always wear scarlet and they always wear navy, regardless of where the game is played.
I just hope we get to see a Buckeye version of the liquid metal helmets Oregon wore in the Rose Bowl. How cool would these look with our Buckeye stripes down the center for a night game?
I am a big fan of Alternate jerseys and uniforms, but for the love of god, just do not wear them during THE GAME. Leave the uniforms the way they are supposed to be for that game. It just looks right. When I see highlights (or lowlights in our case) of the 09' and 10' games, I feel like I am watching us play someone else. The 2010 ones were brutal, I liked the 09 and 11' ones you wore against Wisconsin. The 2010 ones just looked like a bunch of Hemorrhoids running around.
@RATIONAL - I'll agree there, the '09 ones were far superior. It was like watching a bunch of stormtroopers out there pwning that n00b Forcier. Sorry, nerd moment there.
Guess I don't mind if alternate is a heavily influenced "Throwback" jersey during The Game. I guess the '10 ones were as well, but since I wasn't around in 1942, I had no reference. Plus, the damn things just looked hokey. I do think that the Pro Combat jerseys--like prime-time college football--look better under the lights, though.
@Hodge: I believe in 06 you guys made the change to thinner stripes on the sleeves? I was a big fan of the thicker stripes on the side of the shoulder. Also, the buckeyes on your helmet used to be a lot bigger, along with the numbers. I liked those uniforms more than I do now.
@RATIONAL - Man, that was such a huge debate when those dropped. I think the post '06 uni has a better visual impact than the previous one, but I do think that the "scarlet" color is a bit off. I wish it was a little bit deeper; but you can't have everything, I guess. I think the overall look has been "tightened," i.e. slimmer fit (a la basketball unis), bolder stripes, a brighter color. Gotta admit, they do pop more than the previous ones.
I do miss the big buckeye leaves, though. It's one of the great collegiate helmet traditions.
For the record, I'd kill to see Nike make a throwback on par with the ones Adidas served up for you guys last year. Imagine you guys in your whites, and us in a scarlet throwback. Now that would be awesome, a great flourish to kick off the new "Ten Year War."
THESE ARE NOT REAL...although i really hope that this years pro combat are black...i already have several jerseys but these are my yearly purchases and would absolutely dig a black jersey
I like the pro combat uni's. I used to be in the "this is ruining tradition" boat until I actually looked through the history of OSU uniforms and was staggered by how often they have been changed. It's not like this is the first time we're wearing something other than brown pants and a leather helmet. Our tradition is to have awesome uniforms, and for the most part I think the pro combat jerseys have maintained that. Black ones are more of a departure, but it's one game a year. I'm willing to bet the scarlet and gray tradition will survive the day.
When told OSU set school record for 50+ games this year, UFM said "That's good. We're gonna break that next year."
Sorry I'm in the minority guys, I just think it's selling out. If a recruit is worried about what we wear, he's probably a diva. Notice the Schools who win national titles uniforms. All tradition rich programs. Let Oregon and Maryland play dress up. We will all see highlights 20 years from now, and think WTF were we wearing. Woody would be spinning in his grave. Last years pro combats looked like a joke. The white Helmet one was the only one I've seen that looked traditional. I guess I'm burnt out on "football fashion", but I guess it fits into our soft PC society.
Dustin Fox was our leading tackler as a corner.... because his guy always caught the ball.
I don't see the big deal, they're one-offs that are used once a year. I don't think it's that the players love fashon, it's the fact that they wear the same jersey throughout their entire college career. I see the alternates as being akin to "Casual Fridays" at work. Some people look good, some look terrible--but it's just for one day out of the work week, and it's fun to change it up.
Some of the alternates will be strikeouts ('10), while some will look good ('09). As long as my Buckeyes are in them, I'll always cheer them on. Remember, a lot of us were shitting bricks when the uniforms were redesigned in '06, as well. Now, I can't think of anything else I'd rather see my team in.
@Rational, you may be getting sued by Nike for using that word going forward! It's "sun" from here on out
@Glue, of course we'll be saying that. it's inevitable. The facemasks 30 years ago were plastic with like 3 bars, they look completely ridiculous. Not that long ago jerseys were occassionally tucked under the shoulder pads in a bizarro belly shirt phenomenon. Mullets were routinely worn, not as a joke. Eddie George's #27 was 3 feet tall practically, and the numbers on the shoulders covered his entire shoulder pad
It's just the evolution of sports fashion, which, like it or not, is a thing. These guys care how they look, they like looking sharp, and they think these flashy jerseys look sharp. So we cater to them once a year.
"Tradition laden program" and "staying up with the times" don't have to be mutually exclusive.
When told OSU set school record for 50+ games this year, UFM said "That's good. We're gonna break that next year."
Oregon and Maryland change their entire uniform all the time, with Oregon pretty much revamping every season. We will never be like that, having one or two alternates a season isn't gonna kill anyone if it means Nike keeps pumping money into the school
I think the black just came from Woody's cap? lol other than that I cannot think of another way that Black has been adopted as a team color. I notice now on the field the Block O has some black outlining on it. While, when you had the grass, black was not a color on the block O or the endzones for that matter. It was strictly grey.
Leave it to me to notice these small details, I guess it comes with being meticulous.
There's black on the jerseys. It's just really small and a border for other colors. Though I think the latest jersey revamp made the black lines on the sleeves a little bigger.
When told OSU set school record for 50+ games this year, UFM said "That's good. We're gonna break that next year."
Honestly I'd love for the team to wear a black uniform once a year and have OSU do a "black-out", because a "scarlet-out" is about as intimidating as a dandelion.
It was a border before that, both on the sleeves and the pants. Like I said, itty bitty (just found it on Robert Smith and Eddie George so it was there for awhile. Now that I'm looking at it, I don't even thinkthe black is thicker now, it's just more noticeable on the sleeves cuz we took the gray stripes off.

We're not doing black jerseys, but I personally love every pro combat set we've had since they started doing that. I hope it becomes a yearly tradition.
I wouldn't cheer for Michigan if they were playing the Taliban.
I think it is good to have pro combat or alternate jerseys. It excites the athletes and the fans, also gives us something to talk about. My only thing is just do not do it during THE GAME. I am game for any other week of the year.
The stripe on the sleeve simply matches the one on the helmet now (I think that was the 2006 change). I agree that I like the one and done special unis. But I really don't like using them against ttun. As I said above I would rather it always be scarlet vs. blue for The Game.

These are supposed to be the uniforms for the next two years. I don't know if it's finalized yet though

No! I want our regular unis every game.

I would never trade in the tradition uniforms but I kind of like the ONE game with these. Definitely dig the large OSU logo on the helmets.

@Gymbuck
Probably not -- the black one on the left looks too good so it is unlikely to be used :)

There's been rumors that at some point in the future we may do a mostly black pro combat. I think that would be pretty freaking cool.
I just hope we get to see a Buckeye version of the liquid metal helmets Oregon wore in the Rose Bowl. How cool would these look with our Buckeye stripes down the center for a night game?

I like the alternate uniforms, do not see what the big deal is. Also I think it helps with recruiting as lame as that sounds.

I always thought we should do a black top --> same pants and helmets and same striping pattern but a black top. This would look nice.

*closes eyes* please, do not do black jerseys! Just would not look right. That would be equivalent to Michigan Donning Maize Jerseys.
these are garbage, not a chance they get used
It would be worse than Michigan donning
maizesun jerseys, because black isn't even one of our school colors. It just wouldn't look right.I don't see the big deal, they're one-offs that are used once a year.
